Lucas Partridge might have been hoping to extend his record-breaking* stint as Jeopardy!‘s reigning champion, but alas, his first night back after the onslaught of tournaments ended in a loss for him. Wednesday’s episode of Jeopardy!, which was the first regular show after the Invitational Tournament ended on Tuesday, saw Partridge, a school counselor from Las Vegas, joined by newcomers Daniel Rosenberg, a lawyer from New York, and Lee Wilkins, a regulatory affairs coordinator from Alabama. The first round went well enough for Partridge. He got 12 answers correct, versus five incorrect. and netted $3,600. Rosenberg was forging right ahead of him, though, with nine correct answers and just one incorrect, earning $4,600. Jeopardy! has been in tournament mode for what feels like forever, but there is great news for fans waiting on the return of regular games with brand-new contestants. On the latest episode of the Inside Jeopardy! podcast, long-time producer Sarah Whitcomb Foss was joined by her regular co-host and former Tournament of Champions winner Buzzy Cohen, where she confirmed regular Jeopardy! will be back next week. “The finals of the [Jeopardy! It’s great news for Jeopardy! fans as the Writers Guild of America has reached a tentative agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to bring an end to the strike. Should the WGA board vote in favor of the new deal, this means that Jeopardy! will soon return to new episodes with new contestants.
