10. How Did Moldaver Live for So Long?
One of the most unexpected and still unexplained twists of Fallout Season 1 was Lee Moldaver being Cooper Howard’s contemporary. Despite not being a ghoul or a cryopodded Vault-Tec employee, Moldaver somehow survived in the Wasteland for well over two centuries and didn’t age a day. What was her immortality secret?
9. Will Maximus Be a Bro or a Gent?
Maximus’s entire character arc in Season 1 was him wanting to be a celebrated hero without risking his power armor-clad bottom. Then Lucy came around and started changing him for the better… But in the finale, Max did become a hero in the eyes of the Brotherhood and was promoted to a Knight. Will he chase Lucy or notoriety?

We finally got the second season of House of the Dragon, but each episode will be released once a week – which can be a real torture for fans.
To make the wait a little easier, we have chosen nine projects that are not only similar to House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones, but were even pioneers on the path that these two projects later took.
1. The Hollow Crown, 2012-2016
If it weren't for the Wars of the Roses, which shook the English kingdom in the 15th century, and William Shakespeare's striking (though far from reliable) description of it, there would be no Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon.
Shakespeare's plays have been filmed many times, but in 2012 the BBC decided on a new, large-scale and modern adaptation of five works under one title The Hollow Crown. The creators tried to show the period as authentically as possible,...

Bound will release on 4K and Blu-ray in the Criterion Collection on June 18th, 2024.
A mere three years before they changed the cinematic landscape forever with The Matrix, Lana and Lilly Wachowski delivered a bare-bones, neo-noir thriller overflowing with tension and sensuality. In their feature directorial debut, the sibling filmmakers showcased their talents with a grounded thriller set primarily within the confines of a single apartment building.
Bound Plot
Corky (Gina Gershon) finds herself drawn to Violet (Jennifer Tilly), the woman living down the hall of their shared apartment complex. However, things are complicated when its learned that Violet is married to Caesar (Joe Pantoliano), a mobster with violent tendencies. When the two women make the decision to steal money from the mob and start a new life together, things begin to unravel and nothing goes according to plan.

Lana and Lilly Wachowski’s Bound, their low-budget neo-noir debut feature from 1996, is both an outlier in a filmography subsequently defined by high-concept science fiction and an ur-text for the filmmakers’ overriding interest in the power of erotic and romantic love to liberate people.
The film concerns a plot by Violet (Jennifer Tilly), the moll of a mafia money launderer named Caesar (Joe Pantoliano), to run out on her man with enough of his filthy lucre to set herself up for life. To do so, she woos Corky (Gina Gershon), her apartment complex’s handywoman and an ex-con, to act as her accomplice. But rather than simply use the woman as a patsy, Violet betrays more and more genuine interest in Corky, and the two grow ever closer as Caesar starts to piece together their scheme and things go increasingly awry.

At long last, the fourth season of Amazon Studios’ much anticipated superhero series, The Boys, has premiered, and wasting no time on the first three episodes has announced the series’ return with equal parts humor, intrigue, and gleeful ultraviolence. With Vought, Homelander, and Neuman trying to establish absolute domination of supes over the administrative sector of the country, it is up to the titular supe-hating ragtag bunch of baddies to stop them for good. However, it is easier said than done, as aside from the lack of proper countermeasures against the supes, their personal problems have started dragging them down—something upon which the first three episodes of the fourth season of The Boys focus.

Ancient Rome has long been fertile ground for big-screen epics, from Ben Hur to Gladiator.
But the age of togas and chariot races hasn't spawned many successful TV dramas.
So Peacock execs likely knew they were taking a bigger risk than Caesar crossing the Rubicon when they greenlit Those About to Die, a big-budget drama about the world of gladiatorial combat.
Now, the streamer has released the first full-length trailer ahead of the series' July 18 debut.
A press release issued today describes the show as coming from blockbuster director Roland Emmerich (Independence Day) who serves as executive producer along with Academy Award-nominated writer and creator Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan).

The Annecy Animation Festival is a special place where the majority of attendees are animation students and young folks just getting their start in the industry. There is a palpable excitement and genuine desire to know how these projects are made that is simply not present at any other festival or convention. But, much like Comic-Con, the studio presence is increasing with every year and trying to overwhelm attendees' attention with flashy titles, known IP, and big name talent. Sometimes it works great, though, like in 2022 when Netflix gave a bunch of auteurs the space to realize their passion projects and showcased movies such as "Wendell & Wild" and Guillermo del Toro's "Pinocchio."
This year, Netflix returned to Annecy with another big presentation showcasing some of its upcoming titles, including Zack Snyder's animated show "Twilight of the Gods" and the many other titles it has coming out in the next year or so.

I guess calling fan culture toxic is an understatement. It sounds like an arrangement where you give someone the power to ruin your day, and the person concerned doesn’t even know whether you exist or not. Todd, who was introduced in the third season of The Boys, was portrayed as some kind of conspiracy theorist, a sort of basement dweller from the troll army. So Todd became a huge fan of Homelander because he found him cool. Yes, that’s enough to worship someone these days. Our generation is not very fond of words like: right or wrong, law, and ethics. We’ll take humanity forward with coolness. So when we first met Todd, he was dating Mm’s (Mother’s Milk) ex-wife, Monique. Unlike Mm, Todd actually had time for her daughter, Janine, because of which she grew extremely fond of him. So, I am not saying Todd was a bad person.

The Boys season four premieres this Thursday, and ahead of its launch, we sat down with stars Antony Starr (“John Gillman/Homelander”) and Chace Crawford (“Kevin Moskowitz/The Deep”) to talk about what's coming our way this season.
With Homelander winning over Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) last season, we asked Starr what kind of father Homelander hopes to be or whether he's seeking something else entirely out of their relationship. Meanwhile, Crawford explains why he believes The Deep has stayed the Seven so long and what's behind his unwavering loyalty to Homelander.
Plus, we also get a small tease about when fans should expect the inevitable showdown between Homelander and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban)!

Ridley Scott wanted to tell the story of “Gladiator 2” with as many cameras as possible, according to actor Joseph Quinn.
The “Stranger Things” star told GQ that Scott would film with eight cameras at once for even just a single scene. Scott would then piece together the desired shots.
“I was like, ‘Eight cameras?’ and he’s like ‘You gotta know where to fucking put ’em,'” Quinn said. “Clearly he does. Watching that puzzle, watching him harness all those pieces and put them together was fascinating, truly.”
“Gladiator 2” stars Paul Mescal as Lucius, the nephew of since-deceased Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) who was killed by Russell Crowe’s Maximus. Lucius is the son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen) and grandson of Marcus Aurelius, and originally played by Spencer Treat Clark in the 2000 feature.

In taking over directing duties on the latest Planet of the Apes feature film, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Wes Ball wanted to maintain a sense of continuity with the previous films, even though the new one takes place about three centuries later than the previous one. In order to do that, Ball turned to the man who had played (through motion capture) Caesar in the last three Apes films, Andy Serkis. Serkis, of course, is known throughout the industry as the master of motion capture acting, having done pioneering work in the field as Gollum in the Lord of the Rings movies. So, as Ball told us,...

“A plantation was a plantation,” Colson Whitehead wrote in his 2016 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Underground Railroad. “One might think one’s misfortunes distinct, but the true horror lay in their universality.” It’s that sense of infinite trauma—spreading across the United States, backward and forward throughout history, and deep into the souls of the enslaved—that comes across most palpably in the 10-part adaptation of the book, which is unsparingly and expansively directed by Barry Jenkins.
On her flight from the Georgia plantation that her mother vanished from years earlier, Cora Randall (Thuso Mbedu) is asked to share the story of her pain. In Whitehead’s version of history, the railroad isn’t a metaphor but a real underground transportation system with stationmasters and conductors and locomotives, some with curtained windows and wine aboard. Every stop represents a new hope and space for testimony. In each state that Cora disembarks,...

Introduced in the second installment in the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise, Jason Clarke’s Malcolm served as the leading human character, who forms a close bond with Caesar and other apes. However, despite his significant presence in the film, the character was absent from its sequel, War for the Planet of the Apes.

Despite Hollywood's box office haul being generally disappointing this year, the "Planet of the Apes" franchise is proving to be surprisingly resilient.
Seven years after "War for the Planet of the Apes" concluded the Caesar trilogy on a critical high note as one of the most significant blockbusters of the decade, director Wes Ball's "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" has managed to hold strong and bring back the same audience that turned the previous films into box office success stories. To that end, the film crossed a major milestone this past weekend, sailing past the $300 million mark worldwide on what was otherwise an abysmal few days for theaters.
On its fourth weekend in theaters, "Kingdom" pulled in another $8.9 million, staying at fourth place on the charts. It landed just below John Krasinski's "If" ($10.5 million) and well above Universal's "The Fall Guy" ($4.1 million), which has already...

We all know that Barbenheimer – the viral sensation turned box office juggernaut caused by the simultaneous release of Barbie and, wait for it, Oppenheimer earlier this year – made lots and lots of cash. You’re probably still counting it. It was crazy!
Now, we know what people have been saying. “Barbenheimer was an organic internet phenomenon,” “it was lightning in a bottle,” “if you try and artificially recreate the same conditions everyone will smell a rat and laugh at you.”
We disagree. See, we’ve been checking our big film calendar for 2024, and we’ve noticed there’s a bit of a clash...

From the hidden depths of the sea, to the farthest corners of the globe, legendary monsters lie in wait. These colossal and fabled creatures, broadly referred to as kaijū, remain dormant or lurk in the shadows until there is no mistaking their existence. During the course of their travels, they often menace civilizations or battle other beasts of a similar size. Their legacies are formidable and their powers are devastating.
Yet despite their sheer enormity and astonishing abilities, audiences today may find it difficult to imagine the likes of Godzilla being genuinely scary. Their destruction can be shocking, but the monsters themselves don’t always strike fear in mankind’s heart. Even so, there are those instances in the course of Japanese kaijū cinema — from Godzilla, Gamera, or otherwise — where viewers are genuinely unnerved by what they see on screen.

September has been the month of erotic thrillers on the Horror Queers podcast, and after spending the first two weeks discussing Brian De Palma’s controversial masterpiece Dressed to Kill and Paul Feig’s suburban noir A Simple Favor, we’re now moving into a queer cinema classic in the Wachowski sisters’ 1996 neo-noir Bound!
Bound sees Violet (Jennifer Tilly) set her eyes on Corky (Gina Gershon) in an elevator. Unfortunately, Violet is the girlfriend of violent gangster Caesar (Joe Pantoliano), while Corky is fresh out of prison and doing renovations on the apartment next door. As the two women launch into a passionate love affair, they assemble an intricate plan for Violet to escape from Caesar, with two million dollars of the mob’s money. As you might expect: not everything goes according to plan.

Nearly a decade after “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” debuted in theaters and brought the YA action franchise to a close, Lionsgate is heading back into the arena. But this time, there’s no Katniss, no Peeta and none of the high-tech horrors that awaited them.
“The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” is instead taking us back to the early days — the 10th Annual Hunger Games. So, just low-tech horrors.
That means audiences are about to meet a (mostly) new ensemble of characters and an all-new cast of actors playing them. Lionsgate has debuted a batch of “Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” posters introducing all of them, including Tom Blyth as young Coriolanus Snow, “Euphoria” star Hunter Schafer as Tigris and “West Side Story” breakout Rachel Zegler as District 12 contestant Lucy Gray.

Historical fiction shows based on characters who lived centuries ago are always intriguing to watch. The history presented in the form of a television show allows us to understand the nuances of those real-life people who carried out good and bad acts for the sake of power and nothing else. It also helps us to see them from a gray perspective, for each of them had their own intentions and journeys to justify their acts. The Tudors, The Serpent Queen, Rome, Vikings, Downton Abbey, and Marco Polo are names of some of the many shows in this genre. Domina is about the Roman Dictator Augustus’ wife, Livia, who managed to stay in power for years even though she could not give him an heir, which was crucial for any family ruling a vast empire.

Yoda is an essential character in the "Star Wars" franchise. While "Star Wars" had sci-fi creatures aplenty up until his first appearance — mostly thanks to the Mos Eisley cantina sequence — it was the introduction of Yoda in "Empire Strikes Back" that showed the ability of George Lucas' franchise far, far away to spark the imagination. Indeed, Yoda is not just a character that opened the doors for all the great alien creatures of the prequels, but one that also encapsulated Lucas' skills at recruiting the best in the business to bring wildly inventive creatures to life.
Before Yoda became a digital puppet, Frank Oz made him a fully realized character with a distinct personality. Oz was not just playing some background alien, but infused the character with enough mystery and intrigue to spark countless speculation, including Yoda's backward syntax which has captivated and confounded audiences for decades.

Marcus Wanner needed a little adventure in his life. A skinny 15-year-old brainiac with wire-frame glasses and wavy brown hair, he was the eldest of five, home-schooled by their mother, a devout Catholic, near Roanoke, Virginia. Shuttling Marcus between home, church and the Boy Scouts seemed like the best way to keep him away from trouble (and girls). “I missed out on a lot,” he recalls with a sigh. “I didn’t get out much.”
Though Marcus was gifted with computers, his mom and dad, an electrical engineer, also locked him down online.
