Billboard reports that Belmont University’s The Fisher Center will host “A Night of Joy Celebrating the Covenant School” on Wednesday, April 12, with the event “to honour the victims and their families as well as the church, staff and first responders, and bring an evening of music, hope and healing.”

During his summer hiatus from Nashville, actor-musician Sam Palladio, who plays Gunnar Scott on the ABC drama, was exploring the latter half of his hyphenate, taking his original music on tour in his native U.K., sharing a stage with one of his musical heroes, Ron Sexsmith.
In August, Palladio, who was raised in Cornwall on the English seaside, played a little closer to his current Music City home, taking the stage at the Grand Ole Opry, where he introduced two songs he played on the recent tour. One of the tunes,...

Nashville, Season 3, Episode 1: “That’s Me Without You”
Directed by Callie Khouri
Written by Callie Khouri
Airs Wednesdays at 10pm Est on ABC
Nashville comes back for its third season with almost no noise. What, after a magnificent pilot two years ago, was once supposed to be a ratings savior for ABC has become an afterthought for the network, who barely publicized its premiere. They have buzzy new shows to talk about: (How to Get Away With Murder, Black-ish), and returning ratings hits to protect: (Scandal, uh… Scandal). And yet Nashville persists on network television representing a category that doesn’t even exist, the musical soap opera. Those two genres have never been more unfashionable. Musicals must cloak themselves in faux-edgy irony like Glee or die spectacular deaths (Rip Smash.) There are other soaps, especially on ABC, but they have to be structured like procedurals and contain a healthy...

A “creative calling.” That’s what Nashville singer/songwriter Trent Dabbs calls collaborating with D.C. singer Bobbie Allen (Young Summer) on her music. It’s an apt phrase, as with the release of Young Summer’s newest single, “Fever Dream” shows. Young Summer’s voice, an alto compared to that of Sarah McLachlan and Florence Welch, echoes a particularly ethereal quality associated with callings, destiny and fate. Smooth, soulful and bluesy, her voice is light but is strong enough to carry heavy lyrics. And her lyrics are heavy for a reason “It’s extremely honest music," Allen explains. "It really is no-holds-barred in its honesty....

Over the past four weeks, primetime viewers have watched a tangled, soapy web of "love, power, money, family and music" unfold on ABC's country music drama Nashville. With every episode, those viewers have essentially had an album of new, original music revealed to them one, two, three tracks at a time. Though the show's ratings have been uneven, the songs are making quite a commercial mark. At press time, six Nashville tracks grace the iTunes country songs chart.

That’s a nice, new iPad you’ve got there, Emily. No doubt a gift from your mother who overheard some students talking about how rad they are on her daily afternoon stroll around the Danby U campus. Emily’s new tablet is displaying the suicide note/murder confession of one Ian McPedophile, and she wants to Scooby the s--t out of that thing, but the other Liars aren’t feeling it. Now that Ian’s dead, Hanna wants to think about normal teenage girl things again, like Urban Outfitters and losing her virginity to a vagabond; Aria wants to bring all her mental acuity to bear on the ever-present conundrum “when and where shall I throw my next tantrum on/about Ezra Fitz?”; and Spencer just wants to take her first breath in about two years.
This is a stellar Emily episode. For starters we learn that the other...
