The visual effects team at “Star Trek: Discovery” are pulling out all the stops for the show’s fifth and final season at Paramount+. In a teaser revealed at San Diego Comic-Con Saturday, Capt. Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) finds herself in the midst of a high-speed chase between the U.S.S. Discovery, the U.S.S. Antares and an alien ship.
Oh, did we mention Burham is standing outside the alien ship during the entire chase? Watch the scene in the video above.
The clip starts off with Burham facing off against two smugglers, L’ak and Moll (recurring guest stars Elias Toufexis and Eve Harlow), who are in possession of a powerful alien artifact. Right before they beam away, they throw an explosive at Burham that blows a hole in the hull. Burnham is sucked out into space — but luckily, her environmental suit activates and she makes her...

At the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con, Paramount brought along several clips of their upcoming "Star Trek" shows. As of this writing, "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" is nearing the end of its second season, and "Star Trek: Lower Decks" will likely debut its fourth season sometime later in the summer. The second and final season of "Star Trek: Prodigy" will air in the winter of 2023, and the fifth and final season of "Star Trek: Discovery" will air in the early months of 2024.
Paramount revealed a five-minute clip of an upcoming episode of "Star Trek: Discovery," and it looks to be as high-octane as the show has been to date. "Discovery" is notoriously far more violent than the Trek shows that preceded it, and it has a higher action quotient than most of the other new "Star Trek" shows. As such, the slip features a firefight, a sudden plunge through the vacuum of space,...

There may still be months until we see the fifth and final season of Star Trek: Discovery (in 2024), but as part of Paramount+‘s presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, a sneak peek featuring Sonequa Martin-Green and three new cast members was released. In the clip, Captain Michael Burnham (Martin-Green) is in pursuit of Moll (Eve Harlow) and L’ak (Elias Toufexis) when a surprise leads to her hanging onto their starship while it travels at warp speed. There’s “never a dull moment,” Michael says, assuring Saru (Doug Jones), who’s back on Discovery, “I’m not dead yet.” Then another ship comes to her aid, with Captain Rayner (Callum Keith Rennie) … but the two don’t exactly see eye-to-eye when it comes to how to handle Moll and L’ak. Watch the sneak peek above for much more, including who’s in sick bay, if Rayner listens to Michael,...

"Star Trek: The Animated Series," originally just called "Star Trek," debuted on September 8, 1973. It will soon be commemorating its 50th anniversary. To celebrate, as announced at this year's San Diego Comic Con, Paramount will be newly animating several "Star Trek" characters and tapping extant "Star Trek" actors to produce several promotional bumpers in the old "Tas" style. Jonathan Frakes will play Commander William Riker in one such bumper, Armin Shimerman will return to play Quark in another, while Doug Jones will appear as Saru from "Star Trek: Discovery."
The announcement was given by "Star Trek" creative consultant Casper Kelly, who previously worked on "Star Trek: Short Treks."
"Star Trek: The Animated Series" famously reunited most of the original series cast (Walter Koenig does not appear) and merrily continued the five-year mission of the U.S.S. Enterprise. James Doohan reprised his role as Scotty, but also took on a lot of the show's supporting characters,...
