It has been 45 years since the release of John Carpenter’s Halloween. And while there are so many unique approaches to celebrating the occasion – killing your babysitter, purchasing Laurie Strode’s house, etc. – there is now yet another way. Debuting at the H45: 45 Years of Terror convention, new prints that bring Michael Myers to Riverdale (or is it Archie to Haddonfield?) is the crossover you had no idea had been inked into existence.
The Halloween / Archie crossover is part of the Archie Horror line, which launched in 2015. While there won’t be a run of comic books themselves, the great Matt Talbot has designed two special prints that will be featured at the aforementioned con. On the work, Talbot said, “Every so often, if you’re really fortunate, a dream project comes along—and this was one of those times. The Archie gang… meeting up with Michael Myers? When...

Ti West's 2022 film "X" is a stylish but largely off-the-rack slasher movie wherein victims are stalked and killed, one by one, in standard slasher movie location #31 — in this case, a remote country farm. Curiously, the film's violence and everyday slasher elements are its weakest, with West filming various slayings with only slightly more panache than one might see in a random slasher sequel from the mid-1980s. As a grumpy old Gen-Xer who grew up during the heyday of slashers, I was unimpressed with West's more or less faithful recreation.
There are, however, some intriguing themes of lust and loss that made "X" warrant slightly closer attention than many of your average slasher movies. "X" is set in Texas in 1979 — already giving off "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" vibes — and follows a group of adult filmmakers who have been, for unstated reasons, drummed out of the mainstream porn scene. They want to make an ambitious,...

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, Silver Scream Con returned to the Doubletree Boston North Shore in Danvers, Massachusetts on September 8-10 — ’cause let’s face it, baby, these days you gotta have a sequel!
Created by horror-inspired metalcore band Ice Nine Kills, Silver Scream Con has quickly established itself as a top-tier horror convention among celebrity guests and attendees alike. “Everybody’s been really nice, and I’m enjoying myself immensely,” said Tommy Lee Wallace, who created Michael Myers’ iconic mask for the original Halloween before going on to direct Halloween III: Season of the Witch. “I hope everyone gets the shit scared out of them!”
Not even severe thunderstorm alerts could stop the rabid fans, who traveled not just from all over North America but as far as Finland, Scotland, and England to attend. Ticket sales reportedly doubled from the previous year’s already-commendable showing,...

If you're not familiar with "Five Nights at Freddy's," you'd be forgiven for thinking that the titular FredBear animatronic was the big baddie of the series. Similarly, those unfamiliar with the "Saw" films might see Billy the Puppet as the ultimate villain; after all, his spiral-cheeked face is the one unsuspecting victims see on their video tapes instructing them how to survive a Saw trap. However, in both "Five Nights at Freddy's" and "Saw," there is a proverbial (or literal) human puppet master behind all of the carnage that is the true villain of their respective franchises. There are rumors that there will be at least three "Five Nights at Freddy's" films, which means there's potential that "Five Nights at Freddy's" could be the next major horror franchise if the first film performs as well as Blumhouse and Universal hope it does.

For horror movie fans and collectors, there is some good news as actress Jamie Lee Curtis’ house from the original 1978 ‘Halloween’ film is now up for sale, and is nearly reaching the $2 million point, having so far been priced for $1.8 million.
The house is the original place where Curtis’ character from the movie, Laurie Strode, lived in the fictional area of Haddonfield, in the state of Illinois. In the iconic horror-slasher film, the house is glimpsed in the background in a scene in which Curtis sat on a front garden wall, holding a pumpkin on her lap.
Talking to People, Heidi Babcock of eXp Realty revealed that currently the house is priced over $1.8 million and will soon go up to $2 million, which is a highly exorbitant sum, given that despite its significance to pop culture, the house is similar to any standard American house.

"The Conjuring 2" opens with Ed and Lorraine Warren investigating the infamous Amityville house at 112 Ocean Avenue to determine whether or not a demonic presence caused Ronald DeFeo Jr. to commit familial annihilation and the subsequent supernatural events that plagued the Lutz family after they moved into the home. The couple holds a seance and Lorraine is thrust into a terrifying vision where she encounters a demonic nun.
The Nun appears multiple times throughout the film, until Lorraine rightfully addresses it as Valak, a shape-shifting demon, and condemns it back from which it came. James Wan didn't intend for Valak to be such a major player in The Conjuring Universe — honestly, "The Conjuring" was never supposed to spawn a cinematic universe but the fans demanded it — and didn't originally intend for the demon to take the shape of a nun. But The Nun, portrayed by Bonnie Aarons, was so scary...

Halloween: Resurrection (watch it Here). The two words combined are enough to send chills down the spines of even the most hardcore movie fans. It causes trick-r-treaters to cross to the other side of the street; it’s the movie your parents warned you about. It’s the movie where this happens. To watch it is to wonder how, as in, How did we get here? From the terrifyingly simple 1978 classic to this silly, slapdash goof. Actor Mike Myers is well aware that he shares a similar name to one of cinema’s most notorious slashers. Jamie Lee Curtis wanted to play on the comedian’s connection to her onscreen nemesis, but Myers wasn’t having it.

Curtis has been grappling with several different versions of Halloween slasher Michael Myers over the years. She appeared in 7 out of the 13 Halloween movies playing Laurie Strode. In 1998, she returned to the franchise for Halloween H2O. The movie would focus on Laurie two decades after her first encounter with Michael Myers. Curtis was drawn to the thriller due to the new direction the movie took her character in.

Rob Zombie, the mastermind behind some of the most polarizing films in the horror genre, has a unique style that’s both gritty and over-the-top. From animated escapades to harrowing tales of terror, Zombie’s filmography is a rollercoaster of emotions. Let’s dig through the ditches of his cinematic world, ranking his horror movies from the least captivating to the absolute best.
Anchor Bay 9. The Haunted World of El Superbeasto (2009)
Kicking off our list is Zombie’s animated foray, The Haunted World of El Superbeasto. This film follows the adventures of a washed-up luchador and his sultry sidekick as they face off against the diabolical Dr. Satan. While the animation style and voice acting are commendable, the film’s raunchy humor and disjointed narrative might not resonate with everyone. It’s a wild ride, but perhaps not the most memorable in Zombie’s oeuvre.

Brainscan is one of those movies you would stumble on as a ’90s kid watching HBO, Cinemax or whatever other programming you weren’t supposed to be watching after your parents went to bed. The kind that you could tell right away was something darker than society would deem appropriate for someone of your age. The kind you knew would keep you up that night.
All of which made it impossible to turn off, of course.
But there’s a certain quality to Brainscan that felt still even more under the surface sinister than the other horror flicks I was used to at the time. This might sound silly considering the plot is about a misfit teenager who plays the hottest new horror video game advertised in Fangoria and ends up dealing with an almost cartoonish, mohawked, coulda been a guitar tech for Twisted Sister, Little Monsters type villain who...

Plot: It tells the story of teenage anti-hero, Vicaria, who is on a desperate quest to cure death.
Review: Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is one of the greatest stories ever told so it’s no surprise to see it adapted in so many different ways. Whether it’s Sundance’s Birth/Rebirth or the Emma Stone-starring Poor Things, there’s clearly so much more to these tales than just “raising the dead.” And The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster is no different, providing biting social commentary, a unique twist on the story, and some truly wonderful performances.
Vicaria’s (Laya DeLeon Hayes) obsession with death may start out personal, with the death of her family members being her launching point. But it’s more than that, with her taking a deep look at the dissolution of her neighborhood, which further motivates her. Hayes is absolutely phenomenal in the role...

Regan’s head turning in The Exorcist; Michael Myers emerging from behind the hedges in Halloween; that decapitation in The Omen. Certain scenes will always be morbidly burned into the brains of horror fans. But after the lights go up, and credits roll, audiences return home, safe in the knowledge that their doors are locked. Yet 15 years ago, an all too real nightmare shattered those illusions of safety as audiences met The Strangers, with one scene standing above all others.
Nihilistic, tense, and terrifying, Bryan Bertino’s home invasion horror preyed on a chilling primal fear: What if we’re not alone in the house? Starting on a somber tone with Kristen (Liv Tyler) and James’ (Scott Speedman) failed engagement, the film’s sense of despair continues to spiral downwards as the couple is terrorized by three masked psychopaths.

There are several divisive entries in the Halloween franchise, and the most recent entry, last year’s Halloween Ends (read our review Here, pick up a copy Here), was one of the most divisive yet. Some fans liked that it shook things up and did something different with the idea of Michael Myers. Others were annoyed that the presence of Myers was overshadowed by a new character, Corey Cunningham, who takes Myers’ mask from him and goes on his own killing spree. The film was so divisive, Us Weekly even asked Danny McBride – who wrote Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends with director David Gordon Green and other collaborators – what he thought of the fan response, and he acknowledged that fans had valid criticism.
McBride told Us Weekly, “I’m a massive Halloween fan as well so you just want to give something that would make the fans excited and...
