Walsh’s novel, “The Big Door Prize” season two follows the residents of Deerfield as the Morpho machine readies them for the mysterious “next stage.” As everyone’s potentials are exchanged for visions, new relationships form and new questions are asked. Known for his acclaimed screenplays with The Social Network, A Few Good Men, and TV’s The West Wing, Aaron Sorkin made his directorial debut in 2017 with Molly’s Game, an adaptation of Molly Bloom’s 2014 memoir of the same name. The story initially shows Bloom (Jessica Chastain) as a promising skier whose dedication and calculations cannot match an unseen variable in the form of a frozen pinecone.
The film then cuts to twelve years later, when the FBI arrest Molly for running illegal gambling operations. The story then unfolds across two timelines, with the present showing Molly preparing for court with the help of New York lawyer Charlie Jaffey (Idris Elba), while the past shows how former skier went from a career-ending injury to establishing herself running high-stakes poker games.

This week saw a “Black Monday” for the TV industry due to the proposed layoffs at Channel 4 and Paramount, according to storied The Office and It Crowd producer Ash Atalla.
Atalla predicted there will be “less” shows made this year, “not more,” and that freelancers are “hurting” due to the industry slowdown, compounded by the redundancy plans.
On Monday, Channel 4, for which Atalla’s Roughcut TV has made a wealth of shows down the years including current hit Big Boys, announced it will be laying off around 240 staff as part of a ‘Fast Forward’ strategy, which will see Film4 and TV drama commissioning merged. Channel 5-owner Paramount, meanwhile, is prepping to make hundreds of layoffs in the States and UK-based international studios boss Maria Kyriacou is leaving.
“Yesterday felt like a ‘Black Monday’ in the world of TV,” Atalla said last night on a Royal Television Society panel.

Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) and Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon) will star in Small Town, Big Story, a new Sky original series created and directed by Chris O’Dowd (Moone Boy).
The six-part show focuses on an Irish village that gets taken over by a Hollywood production that throws the spotlight on an old secret.

Some don’t know how to keep a secret …,” reads a plot description, which promises “a warm and witty, very dramatic comedy.” It is set in the fictional town of Drumbán, “a rural village of rattled misfits on the border of Ireland and another world,” and explores “what happens when a Hollywood production rolls into town and throws the spotlight on a secret that’s been kept hidden since the eve of the millennium.”

Chris O’Dowd is penning a Sky comedy-drama starring Christina Hendricks and Paddy Considine about a Hollywood production that disturbs the peace in a fictional town in Ireland.
Small Town, Big Story has started filming on location in Ireland under a UK Equity contract and follows goings-on in Drumbán, a rural village of rattled misfits. When a major Hollywood production rolls into town, a spotlight is thrown on a secret that has been kept hidden since the eve of the Millennium.

Christina Hendricks and “House of the Dragon’s” Paddy Considine have been tapped to lead “Small Town, Big Story,” a new Sky Studios drama from Chris O’Dowd
O’Dowd (“State of the Union”) created and will direct the six-part dramatic comedy, which tells the story of the effect on a small Irish village when a Hollywood production begins shooting on its doorstep and rattled residents struggle to keep a long-buried secret under wraps.
The series is an Equity production, which is being shot in the U.K. and Ireland, but Sky has emphasized that all cast agreements comply with SAG-AFTRA rules in light of the ongoing actors strike. The cast were contracted before the strike.

Known as one of the few cartoons that parents of pre-school kids can enjoy too, this is a tiny bit more grown up, but still a gorgeous, wholesome delight
“It’s another glorious morning on Puffin Rock.” For parents of small children, Chris O’Dowd’s voice at the beginning of Puffin Rock episodes has the effect of a bell sounding the start of meditation. The animated TV series about a young puffin called Oona and her impossibly cute little brother Baba – “Baba booooo!” – is a soothing, gentle-going delight. It’s routinely included in top 10 lists of shows that parents actually enjoy watching with their kids, and I have to admit it was practically the only thing my daughter watched between the ages of three and five that I could stand to be in the same room as.

Josh Segarra has been consistently working in film and television and earning a living as an actor for well over a decade. And while he insists he’s “just trying to stay busy,” his career received a shot of adrenalin over the past year that found him cast as a regular on three series: the comedy “The Other Two” on Max, the first-year Marvel Universe superhero drama “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” on Disney+ and the freshman comedy “The Big Door Prize” on Apple TV+. That’s in addition to his having a role in this past spring’s “Scream VI” horror flick. Does Segarra feel like he’s broken through to a new level? “It’s very nice and very flattering to hear that,” he says, “but honestly I’m not thinking about that. I’m just having a ball playing in the world I’m playing in right now,...

On Super Bowl Sunday 2018, director Ava DuVernay tweeted, "#FilmTwitter is going to explode tonight. Something is coming that I can hardly believe. Lawd. History in the making." She was teasing Netflix's surprise release of "The Cloverfield Paradox," the third installment in the hit sci-fi and horror franchise. The film hadn't officially been announced, but it dropped on the streaming service right after the game ended, sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry. Unfortunately -- perhaps in part because the hype reached wild levels in the hours leading up to the film's release -- critics were not fans of the movie. DuVernay has since deleted her tweet.
"The Cloverfield Paradox" is a relatively derivative sci-fi thriller. It spends much of its runtime explaining what's going on, spelling out the rules of its plot mechanics. At the same time, its story can be tough to follow. It also bends over backwards to...

"Human Resources," the "Big Mouth" spin-off show that centers around the Hormone Monsters, Shame Wizards, and Depression Kitties that dominate humans' brains, will soon be back for a second season and appears to be continuing in its tradition of having A-list talent voicing some of the office's emotional and/or hormonal denizens.
The first season featured Helen Mirren as a Shame Lizard, no less, and Hugh Jackman as Dante, a sexy Addiction Angel. If this teaser is any indication, season 2 will see the return of Jackman as Dante. Jackman's return, however, isn't the only thing this teaser is promising -- at least two other big names will be featured in the upcoming episodes as well.

Djouliet Amara never thought she would become an actor. That wasn’t really part of the plan. But three years into her acting career, the Winnipeg, Ontario native finds herself as a regular on a series (the quirky comedy/sci-fi/mystery “The Big Door Prize” on Apple TV+) that’s already been renewed for a second season. And she’s drawing raves for her work, with one critic calling her “a real revelation.” “It’s strange to think I get to play pretend all day and get paid for it. That’s really what it feels like. I’ve followed what my heart has told me to do, and the universe has kind of rewarded me. It’s honestly such a blessing.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.

Melissa McCarthy has a “Bridesmaids” sequel all mapped out.
The “Little Mermaid” actress revealed that she has been hoping for a follow-up to the 2011 breakout comedy for years, and already has come up with plotlines for her character. The film followed a bride (Maya Rudolph) whose maid of honor (Kristen Wiig) goes through an existential crisis during wedding prep. McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Rebel Wilson, Ellie Kemper, and Chris O’Dowd also starred.
“I would do a ‘Bridesmaids’ sequel this afternoon, right now,” McCarthy told People magazine. “That group of women was the most magical thing ever. Almost all of us were really good friends already. I think it was such a magical time.”
McCarthy added that she would reprise her role even if the cast are “all in our nineties and [writers] Kristen [Wiig] and Annie [Mumolo] are like, ‘Should we team back up?‘ I’d be like, ‘Yes. Yeah, we should.

Josh Segarra could be Hollywood’s biggest fan. The actor, who has been working steadily for the past 15 years — first with day gigs like a scene in the Homeland pilot shortly after his graduation from NYU, later with recurring roles on Chicago P.D. and Orange Is the New Black — is effusive, bordering on glowing, about the business. He remembers details about every guest spot he’s ever done, every executive or star who’s helped him to where he is today. Claire Danes was “so sweet and kind” and did crossword puzzles on set; John Leguizamo was “awesome”; Kevin Bacon offered some banter about the New York Giants to calm some nerves. “It hasn’t been lost on me when somebody can tell I’ve got stars in my eyes and takes the time to give me a hug,” he says. “It’s why I’ll never stop being a fan of this business.
