In a lawsuit filed just before the deadline for the Adult Survivors Act, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman in 1993.
The accuser, whose identity is protected due to the sensitive nature of the allegation, filed the lawsuit late Wednesday, and named Adams, the NYPD’s transit bureau and the Guardian Association as defendants. At the time of the alleged incident, Adams was an NYPD officer, and the filing states that the woman also worked for the city.
The three-page summons claims that the plaintiff was sexually assaulted by Adams in New York City in 1993 while both worked for the City of New York. However, it does not provide further details about the alleged assault.
The lawsuit alleges sexual assault, battery, employment discrimination based on gender and sex, retaliation, hostile work environment and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The plaintiff seeks damages of at least $5 million,...

This year, only six Asian films (in the most broad geographical sense) out of 20 titles competed in the Official Competition of Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. If there is one among them that stood out in quality, that's Batbayar Chogsom's sophomore drama “White Flag”, set up in the breathtaking vast Mongolian steppe surrounded by dramatic, naked mountains.
“White Flag” is screening at Tallinn Black Nights
Batbayar gained international attention with his debut “Out Of Paradise” (2018) that brought him Best Film Awards at the Shanghai International Film Festival, something that he still calls “quite unexpected”. It took five years for the Swiss-Mongolian helmer to make his second movie, mainly due to a couple of unsuccessful attempts to get funding for other projects he wanted to shoot in Switzerland. When fighting for financing proved futile, Batbayar decided to turn his gaze to his native country yet again, and he returned to Mongolia to make another independent,...

“The Crown” has returned, and with it renewed interest in what the prestige Netflix series got right and wrong about history. “The Crown” Season 6 is split into two parts, with the first four episodes focusing predominantly on the final weeks of Princess Diana’s life and the immediate aftermath of her death. And within those first four hours, a number of questions arise as to what’s portrayed and what actually happened.
Before the final six episodes debut in December, here’s your quick “The Crown” Season 6 fact-check.
Did Dodi Fayed really propose to Princess Diana the night they died?
One of the season’s most shocking moments shows Dodi Fayed (Khalid Abdalla) proposing to Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) the night they died, mere hours before the fatal car crash. But there is no hard evidence that this proposal ever took place. Its depiction likely stems from tabloid rumors at...

Former President Jimmy Carter reflected on his extensive partnership with his beloved wife, Rosalynn Carter, after her death Sunday afternoon.
Rosalynn died at the age of 96 in her longtime Plains, Georgia, home.
A news release from The Carter Center assured the public that she died, “peacefully, with her family by her side.”
In a related statement, Carter, 99, said, “Rosalynn was my equal partner in every endeavor I ever undertook. She provided me with wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in this world, I always knew there was someone who loved me and stood by my side.”
In May, Rosalynn was diagnosed with dementia. She entered hospice care on Friday. In February, Carter terminated any medical intervention amid his own health challenges and remains in hospice care at home.

When Nashville songwriter Abe Stoklasa died last week at 36, he left behind a catalog that frequently probed the dark corners of daily life. In many of his songs, love sucked, gainful work was elusive, and the choice between redemption and destruction was often decided by a single step. Even his Number One pop-country hit, Chris Lane’s seemingly innocuous “Fix,” was rife with foreboding references about addiction (in this case, to love): “I’ll make you feel invincible/I’m more than recreational” went one verse, while another alluded to a “Walter White high.

Baz Luhrmann is not the type of filmmaker to repeat himself.
From “Romeo + Juliet” to “Moulin Rouge!” to “Elvis,” his films are each uniquely specific, traversing fresh genre territory in the way that only Baz Luhrmann can. Which is why it’s no surprise that “Faraway Downs,” a newly edited version of Luhrmann’s 2008 film “Australia” that includes nearly an hour of new footage, is anything but a retread.
In fact, Luhrmann was thinking about expanding his melodramatic epic starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman back when the film was being made.
“I think in the back of my mind I thought, ‘Well maybe one day I’ll release it in two parts with an interval,’ because I used to love those epics like ‘Lawrence of Arabia,’” Luhrmann told TheWrap for our “Faraway Downs” digital cover story presented by Hulu.
It’s also not lost on Luhrmann that between...

Like so many before and after him, Frank Laloggia had a hard time when he first started out in the film business. Yet after booking several roles as an actor, the Rochester native seemed to finally catch his big break. He had been given the chance to write and direct a feature film. Unfortunately, Laloggia’s disillusionment with the industry set in while working on 1981’s Fear No Evil. Severe studio interference was the main cause of his disappointment, and as a result, Laloggia took an extended break from filmmaking. However, the time off between his debut and Lady in White proved to be beneficial; Laloggia returned from his long leave with what many regard as the best film of his career.
With a story partly based on a well-known urban legend from the director’s neck of the woods, it was understandable when people assumed Laloggia’s sophomore film...

This The Simpsons review contains spoilers.
The Simpsons Season 34 Episode 21
If we’ve learned anything from The Simpsons, it is that clowns are funny. Homer went to Krusty’s Clown College in season 6 for “Homie the Clown.” We learn they can also be profitable in “Clown V. Board of Education,” which would have been a classic episode if we hadn’t already taken this class, and paid for it with money laundered by seltzer water.
Krusty the Clown has always been a stand-in for The Simpsons itself. So, when he bemoans how he lost touch with the audience in the ‘90s, it feels like a perfect setup for a continuation of an already tenured plot. One in which we know the Simpsons can succeed as a family, and Springfield as a community. Bart follows a path Homer laid out, and brings in a tender performance with the treacle pre-trimmed.

When Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, announced their decision to step back from royal duties in 2020, they initially wanted a half-in-half-out deal. However, Queen Elizabeth II would only give them the option of all-in or nothing. The couple chose the latter and were able to retain their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles, but were no longer addressed as His/Her Royal Highness. In 2021, the monarch stripped the Sussexes of their honorary royal patronages and military appointments.
Following the queen’s death, many wondered how King Charles would handle his youngest son who continued airing the family’s dirty laundry in the press. Calls for action from Charles grew louder after Harry went rogue with his tell-all memoir Spare. Two months later, it was revealed Harry and Meghan were being evicted from Frogmore Cottage. While Charles has taken away the pair’s U.K. home, there may be...

Sometimes fear can be just as strong a motivator as love. That was the case for Showtime’s George & Tammy music producer and engineer Rachael Moore.
Under the influence and recommendation of musical legend T Bone Burnett, who served as a consultant on the Showtime series, Moore took the leap of faith. “He’s a dear mentor of mine,” Moore said about her relationship with Burnett. “I was a protégé of his, he really encouraged me to take this one, and I did.”
But what really made her say yes? “I had to – I couldn’t say no,” she said. “I was scared, so I had to.”
As a longtime resident of Nashville, aka the Country Music Capital of the World, Moore felt she was obligated to be a part of a series that spotlighted one of the biggest power couples in the genre’s history.
