It’s going against every instinct of mine not to begin this post with “Great Scott!”
Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale announced the development of a stage musical version of their 1985 classic Back to the Future, which will eye an opening bow on London’s West End in 2015—coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the film.
30 years is also how far back in time Marty McFly travels in a souped-up DeLorean in the original film (the first in the franchise which has since banked over $1.8 billion, adjusted for inflation).
Most of the players from the original film are involved—screenwriters...

Time traveling teenager Marty McFly and his rascally mad scientist best friend Doc Brown are about to go someplace they've never been: the London stage! That's right, "Back to the Future," the immortal 1985 Robert Zemeckis comedic fantasy, is being retooled as a musical, just in time for its 30th anniversary next year (according to The Wrap). Unfortunately it's not doubling as a Huey Lewis & the News jukebox musical, although the Huey Lewis & the News tunes that were featured in the movie will be reproduced for the musical. That's the power of love!
Zemeckis and his co-writer and producer Bob Gale, who haven't worked together since the HBO series "Tales from the Crypt" back in the early '90s, will re-team to write the book with the play's director Jamie Lloyd. The show is being produced by Universal State Productions and Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment and will premiere somewhere on the West End.

Great Scott!! Bttf.com have been given confirmation from Universal that Back to the Future The Musical is set to hit the stage to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the greatest movie ever made (I may be somewhat biased there!).
According to the information, music will include those favourites from the movie by Huey Lewis & The News that appear in Back to the Future Part II and Part III. According to the report, London-based producer Colin Ingram who worked on Ghost – The Musical and Steve Spielberg himself will be working to develop the show brought to us by Universal Stage Productions who worked on the likes of Wicked and Billy Elliot.
Here’s what we know:
It will be produced with Donovan Mannato and Cj E&M. The new musical will have a book by Robert Zemeckis, Bob Gale and Jamie Lloyd, and new music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard,...

Glendale, Calif. — Within the dimly lit halls of DreamWorks Animation, past the character sketches lining the walls, inside the eccentrically decorated cubicles and offices is where a group of designers, animators and special effects gurus have spent the past four years bringing life to the Sandman.
The dream-inducing folkloric figure, whose roots sprouted from European fairytales, is among the immortal icons featured in the 3-D computer-generated fantasy tale "Rise of the Guardians," based on William Joyce's charming book series, "The Guardians of Childhood."
The bubbly Buddha-like appearance of the film's Sandman, is remarkably faithful to Joyce's illustrations. Yet creating a three-dimensional, wispy-haired Sandman with oh-so-magical powers provided several technical challenges that many of DreamWorks' animation pros had never tackled.
"He is a very different kind of character," said production designer Patrick Hanenberger of the character probably best known from Pat Ballard's timeless 1954 song. "He is short. He is round.
