Back in 2009 veteran director Michael Bay created the iconic film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Being a sequel to the 2007 film Transformers, the 2009 film had to be bigger and better than the previous one and that is what Bay was hoping for.
A still from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
What was supposed to be a grand cinematic film turned into a nightmare for the visual effects company Ilm (Industrial Light & Magic) because of the heavy CGI scenes that they had to render. As per the reports, the rendering even caused a small fire to the computers of Ilm because they were so awesome and action-heavy!

"Thanks for being my dad." "Thanks for being my son." Gravitas has revealed an official US trailer for an Australian coming-of-age drama titled Ocean Boy, which is the rather generic US title for this film. The original Australian title is Bosch & Rockit, which is the name of the two kids that the film is about - and it fits better than something as bland as "Ocean Boy". Inspired by true events, the film is stirring, provocative and peppered with laconic Australian humor, a compelling story about the light and shade of life, reflecting strength & vulnerability. In the late summer along the coast, Bosch, a young father goes on the run for drug dealing with his surf gang. In tow is his son, Rockit, who believes he's on a magical holiday. Filmed at iconic Byron Bay, against the canvas of Australia's famous east coast surf beaches and rain forests, Ocean Boy...

Yes, it’s true (and we still can’t believe we wrote that headline above): Ambulance, the new action thriller from none other than director Michael Bay, might just be the divisive filmmaker’s best effort in this century.
After spending a decade in the cinematic hell that was his Transformers series, where he churned out one unwatchable, incoherent, headache-inducing pile of crap after another—with a couple of breaks for the modestly better Pain and Gain in 2013, the politically dumbed-down 13 Hours in 2016, and the tediously awful 6 Underground in 2019—Bay has produced his most consistently enjoyable movie since 1996’s The Rock.
Now, make no mistake, this is still a Michael Bay movie; a lot of the action is still edited as if he threw the footage in a blender and put it on high, and the pile-up of plot turns and over-the-top acting in the third act...

When it comes to filming back-to-back projects, one could do worse than swapping out Byron Bay for the Great Ocean Road.
Such was the scenario for young actress Savannah La Rain, who went from shooting Tyler Atkins’ debut feature Bosch and Rockit with Luke Hemsworth in the second half of 2020 to riding waves in regional Victoria earlier this year for upcoming Netflix young adult series Surviving Summer.
The 16-year-old told If the transition was a case of art imitating life.

“Having just come from Byron, where I had been experiencing the surf culture, it was very cool to see it in a television show and it felt very relatable.

While CBS has been renewing and canceling series for weeks now, the future for MacGyver never seemed to be in question.
Until now.
The network made the stunning decision Wednesday night, according to Deadline, meaning that the upcoming MacGyver Season 5 finale will serve as its series finale.
“All of us at CBS are extremely grateful for the incredible work and dedication from Lucas and the rest of the cast, as well as Monica, the writers and the entire crew,” said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment, in a statement to Deadline.
“The MacGyver team traveled far and wide to repeatedly save the world with little more than bubble gum and a paper clip and made this show distinctly their own."

A jauntily old-fashioned adventure that plays like the nautical equivalent of a picaresque road movie, “In Like Flynn” offers a fanciful glimpse at the pre-fame formative experiences of Old Hollywood luminary Errol Flynn, indicating that the future star of “Captain Blood” and “The Adventures of Robin Hood” engaged in a fair share of death-defying derring-do long before he swashed a single buckle on screen.
It’s based on Flynn’s 1937 book “Beam Ends,” which was inspired (or so he claimed) by the Tasmanian-born actor’s real-life exploits. But even though this handsomely mounted Australian-produced movie is labeled in the opening credits as “A Mostly True Account of the Hollywood Star’s Early Adventures,” it’s quite obvious that the credited scriptwriters — a quartet that includes Luke Flynn, the protagonist’s grandson — liberally laced their scenario with material borrowed from, ahem, works of fiction. To put it another way: There are dollops of “Jaws” here,...

"The sirens of the sea beckon." Blue Fox Entertainment has debuted the official Us trailer for the indie film In Like Flynn, which is getting a surprise release in just a few weeks later this month. In Like Flynn is a biopic that depicts iconic actor Errol Flynn's roust-about early life in Australia, before he became a world famous celebrity. In those days he was an adventurer, opium smuggler, gambler, street fighter, womanizer, and gold prospector. The film, based on Flynn's early autobiography "Beam Ends," is inspired by the writers' travels through Australia following in the footsteps of producer Luke Flynn's iconic grandfather. Thomas Cocquerel stars as Errol, with a full cast including Corey Large, Clive Standen, Dan Fogler, William Moseley, Isabel Lucas, David Wenham, David Hennessey, Grace Huang, Costas Mandylor, Callan Mulvey, and Nathalie Kelley. This looks like a good time, although a bit rough around the edges.

Universal’s First Man has an Academy Award-winning director in La La Land’s Damien Chazelle, an Oscar-lauded writer in Spotlight’s Josh Singer and stars two-time Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling.
But that combination did not catapult the Neil Armstrong biopic to great heights in Australia, the Us or 20 other markets last weekend.
Meanwhile Sony’s Venom easily retained the top spot while Fox’s Bad Times at the El Royale opened better here than in the Us, which isn’t saying much, and Umbrella Entertainment’s Errol Flynn biopic In Like Flynn flopped.
Directed by Russell Mulcahy and starring Thomas Cocquerel as the Tasmanian-born Flynn alongside Corey Large, William Moseley, Clive Standen, Callan Mulvey, Isabel Lucas and David Wenham, the action-adventure took just $22,000 from limited sessions on 69 screens and $38,000 including previews.

"You think I'm talented, don't you?" The Orchard has debuted a trailer for the indie comedy That's Not Me, a quirk story about a struggling woman from Australia who has to take an "underwhelming" job at a local cinema after failing to get any acting gigs. Aussie comedian/actress Alice Foulcher stars as Polly, and the cast includes Isabel Lucas, Richard Davies, Belinda Misevski, Rowan Davie, and Andrew S. Gilbert. Here's a more specific synopsis for the film: "Constantly mistaken for her famous identical twin, an aspiring actress decides to use her sister's celebrity to her own advantage. What begins harmlessly enough - free clothes, casual sex - ends with disastrous consequences for them both" because her twin sister makes it famous before she does. This played at a bunch of festivals last year and seems like an amusing little indie. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Gregory Erdstein's That's Not Me,...

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming sci-fi action film, The Osiris Child: Science Fiction Volume One. I'm not really sure about that weird subtitle, but the movie looks pretty good! I'm a sucker for sci-fi, though, even the low budget sci-fi stuff like this. There are some pretty cool visuals to check out in the trailer!
The movie was shot in Australia and the cast includes Kellan Lutz, Isabel Lucas, Daniel MacPherson, Luke Ford, and Teagan Croft. Here's the synopsis:
Set in the future in a time of interplanetary colonisation, Sy (Lutz), a mysterious drifter, meets Kane (MacPherson), a lieutenant working for an off-world military contractor, Exor. The unlikely pair must work together to rescue Kane’s young daughter (Croft) and reach safety amid an impending global crisis which was brought on by Exor itself. "This is going to be fun." Rlj Entertainment has unleashed another new full-length trailer for an under-the-radar sci-fi epic titled The Osiris Child, or rather, The Osiris Child: Science Fiction Volume One in full. You may remember hearing about this, as we posted an international trailer earlier in the year. It's not getting a Us release in the fall. Set in the future in a time of interplanetary colonization, the story is about a drifter, played by Kellan Lutz, who gets mixed up with a lieutenant named Kane who works for a military contractor. They form an alliance and head out to rescue Kane's daughter amid an impending global crisis. Also stars Daniel MacPherson, Isabel Lucas, Rachel Griffiths, and Teagan Croft. This seems crazy ambitious with impressive VFX for an indie production, I just hope it isn't a complete disaster. Take a look. The second trailer for Shane Abbess...

No matter what else, I have to begin this review by saying that Origins Wars (2016) is an ambitious film. For good or bad, it knows what it wants to be, which is to say a science fiction blockbuster in the spirit of Serenity (2005) or Star Wars (1977), and it does its best to be that. But only that. This is a paradox of a film that at once has enough ambition to be the best “inspired by” movie ever but not to do anything really original. That’s not a bad thing – after all, a good story is a tight story, but the problem is that watching Origin Wars (2016) is like watching a film that you’ve seen thousands of times before late at night after a long, long day.
There’s an alien planet.
Which is cool, don’t get me wrong – and, to the film’s credit, even looks pretty cool.

David Wenham on set of his directorial feature debut, 'Ellipsis'..
In the second part of his interview with If, David Wenham chats about his recent roles in 'Wake in Fright', 'In Like Flynn' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales'...
When David Wenham was offered the role of the police sergeant Jock Crawford in the miniseries Wake in Fright he initially recoiled at the idea.
As a passionate admirer of Canadian director Ted Kotcheff.s seminal 1971 movie based on the Kenneth Cook novel he thought the idea of a remake was ridiculous.
Wenham had watched the restored movie twice, at the Sydney Film Festival and at the Chauvel cinema, rating it as a visceral experience and an incredible piece of filmmaking.
However he changed his mind after reading Stephen M. Irwin.s script for the Network Ten two-parter directed by Kriv Stenders.

The director of Highlander and The Shadow has been tapped to direct a biopic on Errol Flynn's early years as a treasure hunter.
Errol Flynn is one of Hollywood’s very first action stars. Known for his dashing good looks (and his notorious after hours affairs), Flynn enjoyed a swashbuckling career in Hollywood throughout the 1930s, 40s, and 50s, famously defining the pirate subgenre with turns in Captain Blood (1935) and The Sea Hawk (1940), and going West, young man, for the genre’s first Technicolor extravaganza Dodge City (1938), as well as the classic piece of historical revisionism that is They Died With Their Boots On (1941). Of course, to many, he simply remains the definitive Prince of Thieves from The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938). Sorry, Kevin.
But Flynn had plenty of adventures before he fell into movie song, drink, and lechery. And it appears it will be getting...

An intriguing trailer has launched for a new sci-fi movie series titled The Osiris Child: Science Fiction Volume One (or, vice versa, as Science Fiction Volume One: The Osiris Child) from Australian filmmaker Shane Abbess. Described as an "adrenaline-fueled sci fi adventure", the story takes place in the future in a time of interplanetary colonization, about a father who has to rescue a young woman amidst a global crisis. The full cast includes Kellan Lutz, Daniel MacPherson, Isabel Lucas, Luke Ford, Rachel Griffiths, Temuera Morrison, Bren Foster, Dwaine Stevenson, and Teagan Croft. As much as I was expecting this to look cheesy or too low budget, it actually looks pretty damn good, with some impressive visual effects and an interesting story. I don't know if the movie is any good, but I'm very curious about checking this out. Here's the first trailer for Shane Abbess' Science Fiction Volume One: The Osiris Child,...
