The Norway-Iran-Switzerland co-production receives the €20,000 prize; it was selected by a Competition jury consisting of producer Marie-Pierre Macia, directors Ed Lachman and Alice Diop, writer Abdelkader Benali and Screen’s chief film critic Fionnuala Halligan.

The International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (Idfa) has announced its Dutch competition titles, as well as the selections for its Luminous and Frontlight strands.
The festival is due to run as a hybrid edition from November 18 to December 6, though some physical elements of the edition have been scaled back due to fresh Covid-19 restrictions in the Netherlands.
The Dutch documentary section comprises eight world premieres, and includes Heddy Hoonigan’s 100Up which tells the stories of seven colorful centenarians. Honigmann’s previous feature Buddy screened at Moma and Hot Docs as well as at Idfa.

The Netherlands Film Production Incentive scheme has backed 21 film projects to the tune of €6.1m in its latest funding round, including 15 feature films, five documentaries and one animated feature.
The average investment was €291,185, with the smallest being €40,000 and the largest sum, €900,000, going to the team behind 2015 fantasy film Admiral [pictured] for their new project Redbad 754 A.D.
Currently in pre-production, Redbad 754 A.D. will be directed by Rob Reiné (who is attached to direct episdoes of Marvel’s upcoming TV series Inhumans) from a script by Alex van Galen. Dutch producers will be Farmhouse TV en Film, with Belgian outfit Bulletproof Cupid co-producing.
The Conductor, directed and written by Maria Peters and produced by Shooting Star Filmcompany, received the second largest grant with €898,111. Peters’ previous credits include romantic drama Sonny Boy and family film Mike Says Goodbye!.

Tiffcom 2013, which runs during the Tokyo International Film Festival, has revealed its CoPro Connection line-up including projects from Sabu and Nicolas Winding Refn.
Comprising 20 projects from 12 countries, the co-production event will run Oct 22-24 in Tiffcom’s Odaiba venue.
In cooperation with the Korean Film Council (Kofic), CoPro Connection has invited five Korean filmmakers with Korea-Japan co-production projects. These include Shobu, to be directed by Ki-hwan Oh, whose Korea-China co-produced romantic comedy A Wedding Invitation was a recent hit in China.
Tiffcom’s CoPro and Atelier du Cinema Europeen (Ace) will jointly hold the Ace Co-production Lab in Japan for the five Japanese and six European projects in the selection. These include Japanese writer/director/actor Sabu’s cross-media project Ten No Chasuke (working title) and Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn’s Japan-set project, The Avenging Silence.
