Wolfsburg have warned Newcastle United and other potential Premier League suitors off their star striker Bas Dost – revealing they have “no reason” to sell their prize forward.
The Magpies are believed to be competing with Southampton, Stoke City and Swansea City for the 25-year-old two-cap Dutch international striker, who is likely to cost at least £12 million if he is to be prised away from Germany this summer.
Dost is making serious waves in the Bundesliga this season – he has scored 16 goals in just 23 games for Wolfsburg, including 13 in 14 league matches – and he is being tracked by several European clubs. Most notably, the 6ft 5ins forward created headlines across the continent after he bagged four goals in a 5-4 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in February.

Chelsea’s Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is closing in on a permanent move to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, according to the German club.
The youthful midfielder only joined the club two years ago from Genk, and the Belgian international is said to be keen to leave Stamford Bridge this month in order to increase his World Cup chances.
The 22-year-old has struggled to break into the Chelsea side this season under new boss José Mourinho. He’s played nine games, but has only three appearances in the Premier League this term.
Wolfsburg are currently lying fifth in the German Bundesliga, a mere two points behind Robert Lewandowski’s Borussia Dortmund.
The German clubs’ sporting director Klaus Allofs told the Wolfsburger Nachrichten newspaper that Kevin De Bruyne would have a medical examination sometime this week and join up with his new team-mates on a Chinese training camp.
