“Élite” is coming to an end.
Netflix announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday that Season 8 of the show will be its last. The seventh season of the Spanish drama premieres on Friday.
“We are shooting the eighth season, which will be the last season of ‘Élite.’ We ended on a high note,” show creator Carlos Montero said during a press conference. “Jaime [Vaca, co-showrunner for Season 7], Netflix and I thought it was time to end it. I say this with great regret because it’s been several incredible years in which I’ve met wonderful actors, we’ve worked with all the directors we wanted to work with and we’ve had the luxury of having Maribel these last two seasons. ‘Élite’ changed everyone’s life, there are actors who started with us and it has been their springboard to be now world stars, it is happening...

At one point, it seemed like Elite was unstoppable.
The Spanish teen drama kicked off on Netflix in 2018 and became one of the streaming service's most popular series.
As the years have passed, the cast has been refreshed consistently to keep the drama fresh and exciting.
The latest seasons have failed to live up to the hype of the initial three seasons, and now, it's all ending.
On Wednesday morning, Netflix announced via social media that Elite Season 8 would bring the series to a close.
The news broke two days before the premiere of Elite Season 7, so those still hooked on the series still have plenty to look forward to.
The original cast included María Pedraza, Itzan Escamilla, Miguel Bernardeau, and Miguel Herrán.
Also on the original cast are Jaime Lorente, Álvaro Rico, Arón Piper, Mina El Hammani, Ester Expósito, Omar Ayuso, and Danna Paola.

Here is a wrap-up of all the news you need to know from Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
Netflix has taken an odd approach to promoting Elite Season 7.
We've had random teasers on social media that haven't given much of the plot away,
Now, three days before its premiere date, we have a full-length promo that teases what's on the horizon.
Off the bat, I'm not interested in going back to Las Encinas.
Bringing Omar Ayuso back made me think that a change of scenery was on the menu.
Unfortunately, that isn't the case.
We see that Omar is still trying to piece together his thoughts about Samuel's death at the end of Elite Season 5.
New cast members for Elite Season 7 include Mirela Balic, Gleb Abrosimov, Nadia Al Saidi, Fernando Líndez, Alejandro Albarracín, Iván Mendes, and Maribel Verdú.
They join Elite Season 6 cast members Valentina Zenere, Andre Lamoglia, Carmen Arrufat, Alex Pastrana, Alvaro de Juana,...

With Elite Season 7 on the horizon, Netflix is making one thing very clear:
The hit Spanish teen drama is not ending in the near future.
The streaming service on Wednesday morning picked up Elite Season 8.
What's more, another original character has been locked in to return.
Mina el Hammani, who played Nadia during the hit series' first three seasons, will return.
No details have been revealed about whether Mina will be a series regular or if she will be a recurring player, but still, this casting news is sure to get fans talking.
Elite has prided itself in revamping the cast every couple of seasons to keep things fresh, so it's always interesting when a former star returns.
It will be interesting to find out what became of Nadia after Elite Season 3, which found her leaving Spain behind to attend university in New York City.
Nadia did appear on Short Stories following her exit,...

Netflix’s “Elite” is officially getting an eighth season.
The streamer announced on Wednesday morning that production on Season 8 will commence in August. Episodes for the upcoming season will be directed by Daniel Barone, Ginesta Guindal, Jota Linares and Elena Trapé. New characters will include Ane Rot (“Killer Book Club”) and Nuno Gallego (“Upa Next”). Mina el Hammani will also return to the series to reprise her role of Nadia.
“Elite,” created by Carlos Montero and Jaime Vaca, is Netflix Spain’s longest-running fictional series. Set at Las Encinas, an elite high school, the series follows a group of working class students at the school and their relationships with their wealthier classmates.
Premiering on Netflix in 2018, the series was met with critical acclaim. At the time, Variety‘s Caroline Framke hailed the series as “tantalizing and whipsmart,” writing: “’Élite’ does indeed include countless teen show clichés, but it also relishes...

Class will be back in session this fall for the students of Elite: Season 7 of the Netflix teen drama will premiere Friday, Oct. 20, it was announced Saturday at the streamer’s annual Tudum fan event.
Additionally, Netflix released a moody teaser video, featuring the cast freefalling from the sky to the ground below, where they, naturally, all start making out with each other. Then in what looks like a scene from the upcoming season, Isadora grazes hands with Dídac and asks, “Do you feel we’re actually living or just existing?”

Elite has been known to revamp its cast to keep the drama fresh and the mystery exciting.
Netflix confirmed Saturday at Tudum that the Spanish teen drama will return for its seventh season on October 20, 2023.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, we did get our first look at the conflict ahead thanks to a teaser trailer that kicked off with old and new characters falling from the sky.
Is it a hint at the mystery ahead? We don't know, but anything's possible after following the drama with these students over the last six seasons.
Don't ever rule out anything with this show, and perhaps that's why it's remained such a resounding success story over the years.
Any show making it to a seventh season is no easy feat, but a seventh season on Netflix is practically unheard of.
The streaming service previously confirmed original star Omar Ayuso would...

Netflix has revealed Season 7 of its popular Spanish YA drama series Elite will premiere on October 20. The streamer announced the news Saturday during its Tudum fan event where it also unveiled a teaser trailer (with subtitles) for the upcoming season (see it above).
Netflix promises Season 7 will be an epic journey for the students of Las Encinas.
In season 6, after another student’s death, Las Encinas entered a new school year determined to cover up for its scandalous past. But conflicts continued as racism, sexism, domestic abuse and homophobia run rampant in the halls of the prestigious institution. If those who run the school don’t take action to root out these issues, the students are going to do it for them.

Ahead of the premiere of Elite Season 6, the official social media accounts for the Netflix hit confirmed Tuesday that the show has been renewed for a seventh season.
Netflix shows rarely make it past their first few seasons, so Elite will be joining the likes of Orange is the New Black as one of the longest-running shows on the service.
Netflix has not confirmed the renewal, but given that the social media channel for the show has confirmed the cast of Elite Season 7, it's about as official as we'll get.
The most shocking part of the announcement is the news that Omar Ayuso, who played Omar Shanaa for the first five seasons, is returning.
No details have been revealed about what brings him back into the fold, but it's possible we might get some answers on Elite Season 6 (premiering November 18).
Additionally, it sounds like we're getting another major revamp for Elite Season 7.
