The 100th episode of “9-1-1,” which guest starred Joey Graziadei and Jesse Palmer as a crossover with “The Bachelor,” reached a rating of 0.91 among adults age 18-49 according after one week of delayed viewing.

And after incorporating Disney’s proprietary data via streams on Hulu and other digital platforms, the 18-49 rating comes out to a 2.2, up from the 2.18 achieved the week before when “9-1-1” hit a season high of 10.7 million viewers according to Multiplatform + 7 data.
In total viewers, the crossover saw just under 4.8 million viewers when it aired on April 4 before increasing by 111% to 10 million viewers, not far behind the record set by the March 28 episode.

The first responders of 911 will keep putting their lives on the line at ABC.
The network has renewed 911 for the 2024-25 season, which will mark its second on ABC and eighth overall. The series, from Disney’s 20th Television, Ryan Murphy Television and Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision, moved to ABC from Fox this season. The renewal comes as 911 is set to air its 100th episode this week.
The show was Fox’s top-rated drama for several seasons, and it’s picked up that mantle at ABC. Through its first three episodes of a strike-shortened seventh season, 911 is averaging 5.29 million same-day viewers (versus 4.7 million last season), and the March 14 season premiere more than doubled its initial audience with a week of streaming and other delayed viewing, going from 4.93 million to 11.76 million viewers. ABC also says that 911 is the network’s most watched current series across all platforms this season.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 3 “Capsized.”] 9-1-1 brings its three-part cruise ship disaster to an end with an episode full of exciting saves—by and of Bobby (Peter Krause)—and an off-the-books requisition of a helicopter, and what better way to cap it off than with the honeymooning couple home and enjoying being together? Athena (Angela Bassett) and Bobby have saved themselves and the others with them as much as they can by the time the 118—Hen (Aisha Hinds) finds Chimney (Kenneth Choi), Buck (Oliver Stark), and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) waiting, along with former 118-er Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) as the helicopter pilot—arrives on scene. (Even Athena and Bobby can’t help everyone climb out through the giant hole in the ship.) Below, Krause takes us inside some of the biggest moments of the cruise ship emergency, talks Bobby and Athena’s relationship, and teases what’s ahead. I’m not surprised ...

What a rescue! After Fox axed 9-1-1 right before the writers’ strike last summer, ABC snapped up the drama about Los Angeles’ first responders. And seven seasons in, these heroes remain as disaster movie–ready as ever. “I have discovered that [showrunner] Tim Minear has aspired to be television’s Irwin Allen,” says Peter Krause, referencing the “Master of Disaster” ’70s filmmaker, “because we’ve done an earthquake, a tidal wave….” (Credit: Disney/Chris Willard) Now, to make a splash in their new home, “we’re doing The Poseidon Adventure and making no mystery of it,” Minear says, adding that the opening minutes feature “an absolute tribute to Irwin Allen.” As viewers know, Bobby and his wife, LAPD sergeant Athena Grant-Nash (Angela Bassett), are setting sail on a belated honeymoon cruise. (Expect to see a couple of familiar faces on board.) ...

The first teaser trailer for 9-1-1 season seven has a real Titanic vibe. The 30-second video shows a ship in distress but doesn’t confirm that Athena (Angela Bassett) and Bobby (Peter Krause) are on board. However, given their history, there’s a 99.9% likelihood the twosome’s honeymoon plans will come to an abrupt – and watery – end.
At the end of season six, the couple decided to spend their honeymoon on a cruise without telling any of their friends. And so, of course, the new season will begin with a dramatic rescue at sea.
Season seven marks the show’s move from Fox to ABC. The new season kicks off on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 8pm Et/Pt.

Shannen Doherty is setting the record straight about her infamous firing (yes, she was fired) from The WB’s Charmed. The Dec. 18 episode of Doherty’s Let’s Be Clear podcast features the second half of her interview with sister witch Holly Marie Combs, during which they recall the “her or me” situation with Alyssa Milano that ultimately led to Doherty’s untimely exit in 2001.
“I just want to make sure everyone knows that there’s zero hate here,” Doherty begins. “The past is definitely done and over with, and it’s not even like we really talk about this at all.

I’m running close to a decade behind reading Peter Bagge’s books – but, the weird thing is, I seem to still be reading all of his books, just with that big time-delay. I have no explanation, and may catch up one of these days: cartooning is time-intensive work, and even someone as prolific as Bagge doesn’t pile up books the way a prose writer like Stephen King or Nora Roberts does.
That’s as close to a reason why I read his 2012 miniseries/2013 graphic novel Reset here at the end of 2023. As usual, I find bits of the worldbuilding to be weird, especially in retrospect: maybe because of the things Bagge needed to create this story, maybe because I fundamentally don’t agree with his assumptions about life and society in general.
Bagge’s worlds are full of mildly updated ’50s gender-essentialism: men are hot-headed and often physically violent,...

Stars: Louisa Krause, Sophie Lowe | Written and Directed by Maximilian Erlenwein
Written and directed by Maximilian Erlenwein, The Dive is an English language remake of the 2020 Swedish thriller Breaking Surface, which is basically the same story, only colder, due to it being set in northern Norway. As such, it’s an effective and engaging survival horror, not too far removed from 2022’s horror hit The Fall, which had two women stuck up a pole, as opposed to two women stuck underwater. You could also, somewhat less generously, see it as 47 Metres Down without the sharks.
Louisa Krause and Sophie Lowe play May and Drew, two sisters of a similar age, who have become semi-estranged as a result of a recent event – we assume the death of their father, though that’s never explicitly stated. Whatever the incident, May is still harbouring some resentment towards Drew (flashbacks belatedly hint at the...

One briny-deep thriller that does not have sharks, other aquatic predators or even human ones, German director Max Erlenwein’s English-language “The Dive” manages to work up considerable tension nonetheless. It’s closer in gist to “127 Hours” than most other underwater suspense films, hinging on a similar type of physical entrapment — only the survivable timespan here is of course much reduced, because the imperiled characters have a limited oxygen supply.
While perhaps not quite striking enough in style or incident to leave a lasting impression, this very well-crafted remake of co-writer Joachim Heden’s 2020 Norwegian feature “Breaking Surface” should particularly impress with its underwater photography on the big screen. Most viewers, however, are likely to catch it via home formats, as Rlje Films releases the film day-and-date to digital and theater screens on Aug. 25.

An race against the clock offers plenty of adrenaline-filled moments, but a weak backstory drains the tension
This survival thriller puts an underwater twist on 127 Hours, the Danny Boyle movie in which James Franco’s arm gets wedged in a boulder while he’s out hiking. Here, the limb-stuck-in-rock predicament is 30-odd meters below sea level, with an American diver who traps her leg off the coast of Malta. (Plot spoiler: no DIY surgery is involved.) What follows is a race against the clock, cleverly constructed by director Maximilian Erlenwein and co-writer Joachim Hedén. Their script throws in plenty of calamities to nobble the diver’s escape, but didn’t quite manage – for me at least – to spark a vertiginous clammy terror.
Sophie Lowe and Louisa Krause play sisters Drew and May, driving out to dive in a hire car. Clearly, there’s unspoken conflict between the two. May...

Inga Swenson, the two-time Tony-nominated singer and actress who as the dictatorial German cook Gretchen Kraus sparred with Robert Guillaume‘s character on the 1980s ABC sitcom Benson, has died. She was 90.

On the strength of those performances, the Nebraska native — no, she was not born in Germany — was cast in 1963 as the spinster Lizzy in 110 in the Shade, based on N. Richard Nash’s play The Rainmaker. She received a Tony nomination for best actress in a musical for that performance,...

In one of the biggest twists of the 2023 upfront, Fox opted not to renew its highest rated scripted series, 9-1-1. As Deadline reported first, the drama, produced by 20th Television, was instead picked up for a seventh season by 20th TV sibling ABC.
While the announcement came earlier this month, during Fox’s pre-upfront press call Monday morning, the network’s CEO Rob Wade revealed that the decision for 9-1-1‘s run to end with Season 6 was actually made a year ago by his predecessor, Charlie Collier, as part of the difficult, down-to-the-wire renewals of 9-1-1 and The Resident, which finally closed a couple of hours before the network’s upfront presentation.

Plant’s solo debut Pictures at Eleven hit stores in 1982, nearly two years after Bonham’s death. He toured behind the record, and he recalled to...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 12 “Recovery.”] Bobby (Peter Krause) continues to work to bring down the rehab facility he knows — but can’t yet prove — is responsible for his sponsor Wendell’s (Maurice J. Irvin) death in the latest 9-1-1. And his, Athena (Angela Bassett), and May’s (Corinne Massiah) investigation, with help from Tamara, one of the patients at the facility, is a success by episode’s end. Wendell overdosed and died because he was caught hiding cameras in the owners’ office; he took the needle so Tamara wouldn’t have to. The owners then tried to frame Bobby for arson, but failed. Krause breaks down the episode and teases what’s ahead. We’d heard about Bobby and Wendell’s relationship more than we’d seen it until this episode. How much had you known before getting the script? Peter Krause: I knew a few things. I didn’t see it ...

(This story contains spoilers from “9-11” Season 6, Episode 12, titled “Recovery”).
“9-1-1” found resolution to a major Season 6 cliffhanger in Monday’s all new episode, giving Peter Krause’s Bobby Nash a heroic showcase as he avenged the death of his sponsor.
In a storyline ripped from the headlines, Bobby and Athena (Angela Bassett) followed up on their investigation on a corrupt rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles, where they suspected foul play had led to the death of Bobby’s longtime sponsor and friend Wendell (Maurice J. Irvin). The episode followed as Bobby revisited key moments from his past with Wendell, while he worked on seeking justice for his friend’s death in the present day.
After connecting with a patient who had been involved with Wendell’s death, Bobby finds out that Wendell was helping her put a bug inside the facility to uncover the director’s malpractices. As they suspected in earlier episodes,...

Only a handful of writers in television history have built a bona fide empire. Few who have done so have been women or PoC. Regardless of what you think of her shows, TV royalty Shonda Rhimes deserves respect for her groundbreaking success. Rhimes' workplace dramas have biting dialogue, steamy workplace affairs, and characters fighting tooth and nail to win. There's a passionate fandom surrounding her work, which makes the viewing experience doubly exciting.
With eleven shows underneath the "Shondaland" banner, it's not a surprise that not all of them are hits. Few contemporary shows have come anywhere close to matching the success of her first project, "Grey's Anatomy," and each subsequent series, in some way, has to contend with that legacy. But Rhimes is nothing if not prolific. Her career has only gotten more expansive since that first smash hit. Since moving from ABC to signing a deal with Netflix,...

In this edition of The Silver Lining, we’ll be tackling Mick Garris and Stephen King’s unfairly maligned Sleepwalkers!
For every successful Stephen King adaptation, there are usually a handful of lesser projects lurking in its shadow. From Dreamcatcher to Lawnmower Man, the King of Horror actually has quite a few box-office bombs under his belt, with some fans justifying this by claiming that adaptations miss out on crucial inner monologues and emotional subtext. However, there is one Stephen King project that suggests that there might be more to the middling reception of some of these movies than the adaptational process.
Naturally, I’m referring to Mick Garris’ Sleepwalkers, the one and only time that Stephen King wrote a story specifically for the big screen. Back in the early 90s, King’s tales were already sizzling hot properties at movie studios, so Columbia Pictures immediately accepted King’s offer...

Lauren Graham is ready to dig into her split from Peter Krause.
Graham and Krause spent nearly 12 years as a couple after co-starring as siblings on “Parenthood”. The couple split in 2021 during the Covid pandemic. It was a tough blow for them. After all, the two raised Roman Krause, Peter’s son from a previous marriage. Graham poured herself into writing as a form of therapy.
“I knew I would be more sane if I had something I was working on,” Graham tells People. “I knew I was resilient because I just always have been. You take your knocks and don’t complain. That’s how I was always raised.

Opening statements have begun in Kevin Spacey’s trial over sex abuse claims by Star Trek Discovery’s Anthony Rapp. The proceedings in a New York federal courtroom come as Harvey Weinstein, Danny Masterson and Paul Haggis all face sex crimes trials of their own starting next week.
After an extremely brisk jury selection this morning in District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan’s Manhattan courtroom, Keller Anderle lawyers for Spacey, and Gair, Gair, Conason, Rubinowitz, Bloom, Hershenhorn, Steigma attorneys for Rapp will present the starting salvos of their case to the six men and six women chosen to serve. First filed by Rapp in 2020 over claims he made public in October 2017, the 40 million civil case alleges that back in 1986 Spacey fondled and trapped the then 14-year-old on the defendant’s bed without his consent at a theatre party. Quickly pink-slipped from his starring role in Netflix’s acclaimed House of Cards...

(Spoiler alert: This post discusses the entirety of “9-1-1” Season 6, Episode 3, titled “The Devil You Know.”)
Unfortunately, Athena and Bobby are not going on that cruise any time soon. In a spotlight on the “9-1-1” power couple, played by Angela Bassett and Peter Krause, Season 6’s Episode 3 delves deep into the mystery that started it all.
“The Devil You Know” uncovers what really happened to Tanya Kingston, Athena’s hometown neighbor who was kidnapped decades prior and whose unsolved disappearance led the LAPD officer on the path of becoming a cop.
“It was very surprising to open the script and see that we were going to revisit that storyline, and there was just something very satisfying in that because it was an unsolved murder and a driving force as to why Athena became a cop and how she is and who she is a person,” Bassett told TheWrap in an interview.

Athena's desire to become a police officer was always rooted in the disappearance of Tanya Kingston. And now, some forty-five years later, the case comes full circle for her, as Tanya's disappearance and death are brought to her doorstep yet again.
9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 3 dives into the aftermath of the revelation that someone buried Tanya's body beneath her childhood home. And It's a jaw-dropping reveal that shocked Athena, Bobby, and viewers.
It's an emotionally taxing hour, anchored by powerful performances across the board that give a real sense of this storyline's pain, anger, and complexities.
TV Fanatic was honored to speak with Angela Bassett and Peter Krause separately to talk about this hour and 9-1-1 as a whole. The veteran actors were lovely to talk with, and I appreciated their candor. Enjoy this one, fanatics!
