Manchester United is one of the world’s biggest clubs, despite their torrid season last time out, where they finished 7th amid a series of fallouts and poor showings. After 26 years of Sir Alex Ferguson at the helm, it was always going to be a season of transition. They did not play well at all and players like Wayne Rooney nearly left the club, with the majestic Ryan Giggs also retiring.
However, the list of players who regret leaving Man United could still fill several books. These players range from talents full of youthful promise who drifted into obscurity to experienced players who left for pastures new who found out that the grass was not greener on the other side. Sometimes sticking is better than twisting in life. The list of successful one-club men at United like Giggs, Paul Scholes and Bobby Charlton is testament to this fact.

Premier League basement side Cardiff City have completed the loan signing of Wilfred Zaha and the permanent signing of Fabio Da Silva, both from Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke to his former club to bring in the pair and both will be looking to make the most of first team football.
Zaha has played just twice for United since the arrival of David Moyes, while Fabio has been limited to just cup competitions this season.
It is worth noting that Fabio, who’s twin brother Rafael is now regarded as an important first team player at Old Trafford, was relegated with Queens Park Rangers last season in a loan spell. He will be hoping he can help avoid that for a second straight season.

Manchester United returned to winning ways against Cardiff on Tuesday night as fan favourite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer came back to town.
Solskjaer is a cult figure at Old Trafford and both sets of fans sang his name throughout, but the former Red Devils striker couldn’t sink his former team.
An early goal from Robin van Persie – back from a long lay-off and named in David Moyes’s side for the first time this year – and a second from Ashley Young in the second half sealed the contest.
Van Persie’s goal was predatory, a close-ranged nod-in after Antonio Valencia’s header against the bar sent the ball his way, while Young’s was sublime, a long-range bottom corner finish.
And Juan Mata made a fine debut, helping to create the first goal and missing a few chances to score himself late on,...

Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised both sets of fans after his first return to Old Trafford as an opposing manager.
Solskjaer spent 11 years as a player and a further three years in charge of United’s reserves before moving to his native Norway to manage Molde in 2011, returning to England this month.
And he was given a rousing reception by Red Devils fans as he took his place in the dugout ahead of kick-off, with both United and Cardiff supporters singing his name throughout.
Asked by What Culture! what that kind of reception meant to him in his post-match press conference, the former striker said:
I’ve always had a great relationship with United fans so that was fantastic, and I’m hoping to get the same relationship with the Cardiff fans – I think they were fantastic today as well, 3,000, you kept...

Robin van Persie scored on his comeback from injury to ensure Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first return to Old Trafford as an opposing manager ended in defeat.
Ashley Young struck a second after half time to end the Bluebird’s resistance and Antonio Valencia nearly added a third late on as he saw his effort hit the post.

Solskjaer, who played for United during an 11 year spell, received a warm welcome from the home crowd as he took his place in the dugout ahead of kick-off.
But the biggest cheer of the night was for van Persie, named in David Moyes’s side for the first time this year.
And the striker made an instant impact upon his return, instinctively nodding past Bluebirds keeper David Marshall after Valencia’s header bounced off the bar after 6 minutes.

Last season’s Fa Cup finalists Manchester City will take on Chelsea in what represents the stand-out tie of the fifth round.
Arsenal will also take on Liverpool at the Emirates in another mouth-watering affair, while holders Wigan Athletic will travel to Cardiff City.
Man City narrowly prevailed over Watford on Saturday to come from behind and win 4-2 and will now take on Chelsea, who saw off Stoke this afternoon.
City will be hoping to keep up their quadruple dream when the two sides meet but now face a huge obstacle to overcome if they are to achieve the historic feat.
The Citizen’s clash with Chelsea will come two or three days before they host Barcelona in the Champions League.
In another blockbuster tie, Arsenal will play host to Liverpool, with Arsene Wenger looking to end his side’s near-decade long wait for a trophy.

Premier League strugglers Cardiff City will swap Nigeria forward Peter Odemwingie for Stoke City’s Trinidad and Tobago target man Kenwyne Jones.
BBC Sport reports the deal will go ahead when Jones, 29, completes a medical in the Welsh capital. Both he and Odemwingie, 32, are out of favour at their current clubs under new management.
Jones has played second fiddle at the Potters to Peter Crouch since Mark Hughes succeeded Tony Pulis. Odemwingie, a Bluebirds summer signing for Malky Mackay, is now surplus to requirements as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer swooped for Jo Inge Berget from former club Molde this week.
Stoke will take over the remainder of the two-year deal Odemwingie signed when he joined Cardiff. The length of Jones’s contract at the Bluebirds is not known at this stage. He refused to play for the Potters against Liverpool a fortnight ago and...

Cardiff City Football Club has been through a lot in the past few years; from promotion to well-publicised changes in ownership, stadium, club colours and crest; with the most recent incident being the sacking of manager Malky Mackay. With Ole Gunnar Solskjær now the man chosen to steer the good ship bluebird away from a relegation dog fight, it’s important to look at just how solid the hull is.
In the interest of deciding whether Solksjaer can save the club, and whether Mackay’s dismissal was right, this article will look at where Cardiff City was as a football club when Malky Mackay became its manager, and where it is now. I’ve also interviewed a couple of long term Cardiff City fans, to get their perspective on one of the clubs most turbulent yet rewarding times.

Premier League champions Manchester United steadied the ship with a 2-0 win over Swansea at Old Trafford to end a run of three straight defeats in all competitions.
David Moyes’s first season in charge of the Red Devils so far has made a compelling case for the club needing to reshape its squad. A report in the Mail on Sunday suggests this process will begin in the January transfer window.
Brazilian midfield flop Anderson will be the first to go in a clearout as he nears a reported transfer to Italian Serie A side Fiorentina. Moyes may also send winger Nani back to his native Portugal and former club Sporting Lisbon on loan.
Wilfried Zaha – the last signing made at United by Moyes’s predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson – could leave Old Trafford temporarily too with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to take him to Cardiff City.

West Ham secured a vital away win for beleagured boss Sam Allardyce as the Hammers move out of the relegation zone with a 0-2 win in Wales following a horrific cup week.
A torrid week had seen the East London side lose 5-0 to Championship outfit Nottingham Forest in last weekend’s Fa Cup, followed by a 6-0 midweek hammering by Man City in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final, effectively ending their hopes of reaching the Wembley decider.
However, a well-taken goal from Carlton Cole, and an late insurance from reliable midfielder Mark Noble secured a first league win since November, and moved the Hammers out of the relegation-zone on goal difference.
Cole latched on to a Matt Jarvis volley on 42 minutes to give West Ham the lead going into the break.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was announced as the new Cardiff City manager recently after Vincent Tan won his power struggle with Malky Mackay.
The Manchester United legend’s first game came in the 2-1 Fa Cup victory over Newcastle United this weekend, ensuring his side got the perfect start under their new manager.
Cardiff currently sit 17th in the Premier League table and hover precariously above the relegation zone. Just one point separates them and Crystal Palace in 18th, while it’s only four points that keep Cardiff off the foot of the table.
Vincent Tan is certainly a unique owner and he’s not afraid to make a controversial decision, as he’s already demonstrated on a few occasions. That said, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a decent appointment.

Now that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed as the new manager of Cardiff City it might be seen by some to be fruitless to be talking about Malky Mackay. In theory, the appointment of the Norwegian is a clear sign that the Welsh club have moved on.
In some ways, it’s a clever move by Vincent Tan as he has acquired a man that was always going to be a popular choice, especially after his time playing in the Premier League with Manchester United. It has been reported that Solskjaer has spoken to Sir Alex Ferguson about the job, and I’m somewhat surprised that he is willing to take what is such a risky opportunity.

Cardiff City have sacked manager Malky Mackay in one of the most bizarre cases to date in Premier League history, and following his fall-out with controversial owner Vincent Tan, according to Sky Sports.
That report says that Mackay and Tan had been set to meet on Saturday, but that the club have issued the following, unsurprisingly abrupt statement, announcing that action has been taken:
“The Board of Directors at Cardiff City Football Club have today relieved Malky Mackay of his duties. A new first team manager will be appointed and announced in due course.”
Former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has quickly become the favourite to succeed the Scotsman, whose last game was yesterday’s 0-3 home defeat to Southampton.
It is reported that Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan sent Mackay an email on Monday asking him to stand down as manager, or face the sack instead.

West Bromwich Albion have sacked head coach Steve Clarke after 18 months in charge at The Hawthorns.
Former Chelsea right back Clarke, 50, saw the Baggies slump to a fourth successive Premier League defeat against Cardiff City on Saturday, leaving them two points and as many places above the drop.
Albion have only won seven of the 34 league matches they have played in the calendar year of 2013. The West Midlands outfit lost top scorer Romelu Lukaku in the summer when his loan spell from Chelsea came to an end and he was sent out to Everton instead.
Clarke had spells as assistant at Chelsea, West Ham and Liverpool before stepping up at West Brom into his first full-time management role. He won less than a third of his 59 games in charge.
A Baggies club statement confirmed Clarke had been placed on gardening leaving along with number two Kevin Keen.

Sir Alex Ferguson, the most successful manager in the history of British football, has this morning retired as manager of Manchester United.
The veteran Scotsman, who has won 38 major honours in his 26 years in charge at Old Trafford, will officially step down after the West Brom game at the end of the season.
The legendary manager will now take a place on the club’s board and the hunt for his successor begins.
Bookmakers have made Everton manager David Moyes odds-on favourite to quit Goodison Park at the end of the season and take over at Old Trafford, while former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is also set to quit Real Madrid at the end of the current campaign and return to England.
With rumours ferociously circulating as to who will take over at Manchester United, we thought we’d profile 5 of the more likely candidates to step into the huge shoes of Sir Alex Ferguson.

The early kick-off this Super Sunday sees the Manchester rivals locking horns once more in this top of the table clash at the Etihad, with neither City nor United content with settling for a draw. The atmosphere is bound to be typically colourful, and neutral fans could well be in for a treat as the two sides look to get the better of each other with strong attacking performances.
As if the game needed more ignition, former United player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke to Football Focus to call City United’s “little brother,” following on from Sir Alex’s infamous comments about their being “noisy neighbours.” Their European record might still be terrible in comparison to United’s bulging silverware cupboard, but City emerged triumphant in the Premier league last season, and though they currently sit second and three points behind United, the pressure remains on Sir Alex to quieten Roberto Mancini’s team.

Manchester United Legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has dismissed Manchester City as “Manchester United’s Little Brother” ahead of this weekend’s crunch top of the table clash between the two derby rivals.
He went on to goad City by claiming they wouldn’t “ever take their little brother’s place.”
Speaking to Football Focus, the Norwegian, who bagged 126 goals in 366 appearances in an 11-year career at Old Trafford, said:
“It’s always this thing about being the big brother and the little brother coming to try to overtake the big brother.
“That always happens in families and in clubs – the young player hoping to take the old player’s position – and City are hoping to overtake United. I don’t think they’ll ever be able to.”
Manchester United are top of the Barclays Premier League by three points, whilst City trail by three points in second place. A win...

Speaking at a press conference earlier today, Ferguson revealed the news that will have United fans salivating at the mouth;
‘His agent is in discussions with (United chief executive) David Gill right about now. We hope all the things will be tied up, although sometimes medicals do take a bit longer. I am sure he will be available for Monday’s game.’

Former Manchester United and current Molde coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed he has had an ‘informal chat’ with Aston Villa regarding their vacant managerial role.
Last week Alex McLeish was sacked by the club after a disappointing season and it seems that the Aston Villa board would like the former Red Devil to fill the gap. If the deal goes through Solskjaer will come up against completely different competition compared to the Norway league, with experienced managers such as his former manager and close friend Sir Alex ferguson.
Solskjaer has been targeted by Villa owner Randy Lerner after Solskjaer left his role as Manchester United’s reserve coach in 2011 to take Molde to the top of the Tippeliga in his first season. His impressive managerial form has sparked interest from Villa and Solskjaer has confirmed that an ‘informal chat’ has taken place.

Nothing lasts forever, a quote that all Manchester United fans will one day have to sadly admit. For 25 years, Manchester United have been made one of the most formidable footballing teams, not just in Europe but Worldwide, and most if not all of the clubs accomplishments are through the brilliance that is Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Scot has come under pressure in the past for his mind-games approach to each season yet he continues to defy the odds and prove all doubters wrong, winning the Premier League season after season. The 2010/2011 season saw Sir Alex accomplish the remarkable, Manchester United would become Champions for the 19th time overtaking the mighty Liverpool which was a challenge they had looked to accomplish for years. But as I mentioned, nothing lasts forever, and with the Blue Moon rising and the London bandwagon gaining more momentum, sooner rather than later Sir Alex will be...

Unless you have been living under the sea, or more likely, unless you haven’t an interest in football, you couldn’t have failed to notice the celebrations of ’20 seasons in the Premier League’, a festival of voting for goals, managers, teams, celebrations, socks, grass, weather…
Manchester United have, without question, been the greatest team in Premier League history. Twelve titles (perhaps thirteen if you have stumbled across this from the future) amongst others go some way to proving that.
So in homage to the greatest ever Premier League Team, I have sought to try and pick their best ever Premier League XI, a debate that will rage on and on and on, to the point someone ends up in tears.
If you think I’ve got it wrong, prove it.
Gk: Peter Schmeichel
If there has been a better keeper in Premier League history, I’ll tell you that you are totally incorrect.

After being recruited from Wigan in 2009 and consecutive improvements on Sunderland’s league position in his two completed seasons at the club, time was up for Steve Bruce after he was sacked as manager of the North East club on Sunday. Our question is, who is in the running to take the reigns at the Stadium of Light?
We know that owner Ellis Short has financial muscle and will no doubt want to improve the club as a force in the league. With this train of thought, we can assume that the American owner will want to attract the big names and the well respected managers of the business as opposed to an up and coming manager who may cost the club less but potentially be a risk to appoint.
Managers like Huddersfield’s Lee Clark or Brighton’s Gus Poyet could’ve been good shouts for the position but,...
