Igelese Ete has the following Academic Qualifications, Diploma of Teaching /Bachelor of Music in Performance Classical Singing from Victoria University, a Master of Music: Honors in Composition from the Auckland University in New Zealand and (2016) currently working towards his PHD in Creative Music.
Ete is the Head of Performing Arts at the Oceania Centre for Arts Culture and Pacific Studies at the University of Pacific, Suva FIJI. He was awarded the prestigious Creative New Zealand Senior Pacific Artist Award for his contribution to the promotion and performance of Pacific music in New Zealand and the Pacific in 2009.
With extensive conducting, composition, and teaching experience. He is in demand as a vocal/choral clinician & composer throughout the world and was invited to present a paper on Pacific Choral Music at World Choral Symposiums in China, Japan and in South Korea. In 2010 he was contracted to be the Entertainment Manager at the World Expo in Shanghai, China at the Pacific Pavilion.
In Fiji he established the 'Mana Choral Festival 2007 which unites secondary schools from specific regions, through choral songs/production with the vision to unite, empower and inspire the youth as well as the Solomons Choral Festival. This has spread out to Samoa, Solomon Islands, and now looking at Vanuatu and New Caledonia.
Ete has been commissioned to compose & arrange musical works for numerous organizations and events around the world. At the end of 2015 he was also headhunted by the Samoan government to be the Musical Director for the Opening and Closing Ceremony for the Commonwealth Youth Games 2015, Samoa - the very first to be held in the Pacific region, which received raving reviews.
There are talks with Disney Animation regarding involvement with their latest animation to be released Nov 2016
He now prepares for a busy touring schedule, which includes Europe, America and the pacific, his latest projects include scoring a New Zealand short film based on a Samoan/Pacific historical piece, and has also secured another contract arranging Choral music for a new epic musical in Denmark, Europe based on the book by the same name 'Pillars of the Earth' as well as performances of his Pacific Stage Musical 'Malaga - The Journey' in the Solomon Islands and around the world.
