Eric Larson is a writer and filmmaker based in Brooklyn, NY.
Originally from Wisconsin, he earned a degree in journalism and began his career as a reporter in New York City, writing and producing videos for GQ, BuzzFeed, and Mashable, including "The 17th Surgery," a long-form profile of a Boston Marathon bombing survivor's road to recovery.
After pivoting into advertising, he wrote and creative directed commercials and short films for brands like Google, Casper, Amazon, Mailchimp, and the LGBT Center of New York, where he garnered accolades from Awwwards, FWA, and D&AD, among others.
It was during his time in advertising -- writing for big-budget commercials and working closely on sets with different directors -- that he felt inspired to try his hand at making his own films.
His first short film, "Check The Locks" (2022), a psychological horror movie based on his experiences with anxiety, won "Best Picture" at the August New York Film Awards, "Best Paranormal Film" at the Cannes World Film Festival, and "Best Lead Performance" at the Nightmares Film Festival.
His biggest filmmaking influences include the works of Matt Reeves, Taika Waititi, Nia DaCosta, and Bong Joon Ho.
