- Robin Middleton studied architecture at the University of Witwatersrand, Viollet-le-Duc, and the rational Gothic tradition at Cambridge University. He was head of general studies at the Architectural Association, London, and librarian and lecturer in the Faculty of Architecture and Art History at Cambridge University from 1972 to 1987. He joined the Columbia faculty in 1987. The focus of his studies has been French and English architecture of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
