The Batman: Arkham series has consistently pushed boundaries within the superhero video game genre, and is still regarded by many as the best in the biz. In 2015, series developer Rocksteady Studios faced a critical decision during the development of Batman: Arkham Knight.
The PS4 and Xbox One, the then-new generation of consoles, were picking up steam among gamers. While some studios opted to develop cross-generational titles to cater to the established player base on PS3 and Xbox 360, Rocksteady went in a bolder direction instead.

The studio broke free from the shackles of the PS3 and Xbox 360 hardware, and chose to focus solely on the PS4 and Xbox One. This decision wasn’t without risk, though. Prepare your virtual reality helmets: Batman: Arkham Shadow, a new VR action game for Meta Quest 3, is due out in late 2024.
The Caped Crusader always did like his gadgets, so he’d probably approve of a new videogame about him that uses those fancy Meta Quest 3 virtual reality helmets.
In development at Camouflaj and Oculus Studios, Batman: Arkham Shadow's teaser was unveiled by the world’s most famous videogame journalist, Geoff Keighley.
You can see the tweet containing said teaser below.
It doesn’t give away a great deal – there’s the benighted Gotham City as we might remember it from earlier Arkham games, and there are what appear to be Pov shots of Batman swooping through an alleyway with a rat fleeing in terror.

With a career that spans 38 years and counting, Hideo Kojima is indeed one of the most prominent names in the gaming world. Kojima-san gave the world one of the most popular stealth game franchises, Metal Gear Solid, which first came out all the way back in 1987. The games got contagiously popular as he redefined the stealth genre, over the guns-blazing approach like the other games of that period.

As the franchise continued to grow, the series only got better, leaving its players thoroughly entertained, as it featured exciting and unique gameplay features, leaving its users surprised. Despite being a game designer, the Death Stranding 2 designer has an immense love for movies and has some dreams of working behind the cameras. However, he doubts those dreams will ever become a reality because he has a compelling justification to not pursue his other dream.

Ghost of Tsushima 2 might be among the sought-after games right now, but the attention seems to have been diverted a little. After the new Wolf Among Us 2 screenshots developed in Unreal Engine 5 went viral, the game and excitement for it has reached the ‘peak’ it seems.

The Wolf Among Us was released over a decade ago, and a sequel was announced in 2019. Initially due for release in 2023, The Wolf Among Us 2 was delayed as the team wanted to move from Unreal Engine 4 to the more advanced UE5.
As the future of the sequel looked uncertain, Telltale Games confirmed in a recent community post that the game is still in development. The developer told fans that there hasn’t been any news because the team is focusing on the game. The post read,
“We’ve been quiet because we’ve been heads down, focusing on the promise of #TWAU2.”
While Telltale did not share any further details, it did guarantee The Fabletown gang’s return and treated fans to 4 new in-game images, showing the game in all its UE5 glory.

Fans have been awaiting the next Bigby Wolf adventure since The Wolf Among Us 2 was announced in 2019. Excitement rose when Telltale Games recently confirmed the game’s production. Now as new images surface on the internet, speculations could transpire surrounding the central protagonist’s next journey. Details regarding the release are thin on the ground but the game was said to arrive in 2024.

The Layoff trend continues to spread as Take-Two Interactive announced their plans to cut headcount. Hopefully, this won’t affect GTA 6‘s development as there are rumors that the move may affect several projects. The industry has been hit hard recently with the likes of Microsoft, Sony, Embracer, and more, cutting a large number of jobs.
Rockstar Games, the subsidiary of Take-Two, is currently working on Grand Theft Auto 6 which is said to arrive at some point next year. However, the news is that it too is likely to get delayed after the decision was made. The game has already been through a rocky road as far as the development is concerned, including Arion Kurtaj’s doing.
It’s a Tough Time for the Gaming Industry as the Layoff Trend Continues Take-Two Interactive is laying 5% of its workforce across its portfolio.
The Internet has been swarming from the debates surrounding Take-Two’s decisions.

The gaming community naturally assumes that there is a secret rivalry between the two yet the opposite is shown in public.
Both actors were also in the running for Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards last year for best performer and while Neil took home the trophy, Yuri was still a winner in the hearts and eyes of fans.

Acclaimed developer Hideo Kojima has several highly anticipated projects in the works, including Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and the mysterious Od. BioShock creator Ken Levine has shown off some new gameplay details for his upcoming Judas to select outlets, and the old BioShock DNA is unmistakeable.
There’s an awful lot of chat about “narrative Lego” in the various news posts swirling around about Judas, the next game from BioShock designer Ken Levine. It’s a phrase Levine first brought up about a decade ago when he first started talking publicly about his first project since 2013’s BioShock Infinite, and is shorthand for the way Judas uses discrete blocks of plot to construct a unique story for each player.
Over the past few weeks or so, Levine’s new studio, Ghost Story Games, has invited a couple of journalists from big, posh outlets to sample Judas first-hand. Both IGN's Ryan McCaffrey and The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley have made videos in which they interview Ken Levine and play through his ambitious-sounding action-adventure.

Video games have been a part of the Baftas since 1998. GameScent is an AI-powered device which aims to make games more immersive by adding smells to your environment. More on that below.
If you’ve ever gunned down people, burned rubber on a race course or faced heavy rain in any video game and thought to yourself “this really is missing the smell of fresh blood and guts or wet clothes”, we’ve got some great news for you.
Game Scent uses AI to release a relevant scent from their device into the air, to hopefully make your gaming experience a little bit more immersive.
The device, which is a hexagonal black box, can be loaded up with different scents (obviously sold separately) and the system will then analyse the audio cues of your media to release the relevant scent. The device claims to be compatible with all gaming systems, as well as VR systems and PC gaming, even streaming platforms.

One of the main announcements that was made during the podcast was that Xbox Showcase is coming back this June 2024 and will feature major reveals of upcoming games on the platform. This news, although exciting, seems more like an attempt to shift fans’ focus from the exclusive title update.

Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi and Shinobi are among the five Sega titles getting shiny new games in the future…

Ahem.
Overnight, Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards 2023 was the venue for the usual array of announcements and slick trailers. And arguably the one most likely to tickle older viewers’ nostalgia glands came from Sega.
It’s a trendy lifestyle-type promo, at first, with some annoyingly young people sitting on a sofa enjoying some time in front of an unspecified console. But… is that a Shinobi arcade cabinet implausibly located in the corner of their flat? Why, yes...

Alan Wake shows itself to be scarier than ever in the sequel Alan Wake 2.
During what was dubbed Opening Night Live at big gaming conference Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, hosted by journalist Geoff Keighley, the Finnish company Remedy Entertainment unveiled a trailer featuring some gameplay snippets from the sequel to a horror video game released in 2010 and taking viewers to the dark place between CG and live action.
“In a horror story, there are only monsters and victims,” says a voiceover. “And the trick is to become neither.” This new, and grim, adventure follows beloved writer Alan Wake, who has disappeared and become trapped in a nightmare in the frightening town of Bright Falls, Washington, where he’s already had paranormal experiences in the first installment of the franchise.
Investigating his disappearance is FBI agent Saga Anderson, who finds herself embroiled in a series of unexplained events — a horror story written by Wake himself.

Since 2020, Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest has served as a solid replacement for E3. Well, E3 is probably permanently dead now, but the Summer Game Fest will go on as planned.
The Summer Game Fest will kick off Thursday, June 8. Unlike most online gaming streams these days, the Summer Game Fest isn’t just an hour-long showcase (the event is called a “fest” for a reason). The ceremony will actually consist of eight streams over four days. The first, which will start at 3 Pm Edt/Noon Pdt, will consist of Keighley hosting a massive showcase. This stream will be followed by Day of the Devs at 5 Pm Edt/2 Pm Pdt, which will focus on indie games from studios like iam8bit and Double Fine. And one hour after that, Devolver Digital will grace audiences with their annual stream of game announcements and good-natured ribbing.

While E3 is probably never coming back, we may have found a suitable replacement in the form of Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest. However, even though we now have a new king of game announcement trailers, we still have to deal with the age-old tradition of leaks and rumors. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
With Summer Game Fest 2023 drawing closer, the internet has started kicking up a storm of speculation. Every gamer and their grandmother has posted lists of titles they want to see during the event, and more than a few have posted insider info (or what they claimed is insider info) of what audiences can expect. Given the sheer number of these posts, it’s difficult to separate what will probably show up and what is a fanciful dream, but we’re gonna try.

HBO and HBO Max’s video game adaptation “The Last of Us” was already a massive hit right out of the gate, but the show’s viewership is only growing even stronger in week two.
While “The Last of Us” debuted with 4.7 million day-of viewers for its premiere episode last week, this past Sunday night’s second episode pulled in a whopping 5.7 million viewers!
Geoff Keighley (The Game Awards) notes on Twitter, “This marks the largest week 2 audience growth for an HBO Original drama series in the history of the network.”
This number represents the Sunday night total between HBO and HBO Max, and Sunday night viewership only represents 20-40 of a show’s total gross audience per episode.
For example, the premiere episode is currently up to 18 million total viewers!
For the sake of comparison, AMC’s “The Walking Dead” posted similar live viewer numbers in its debut season,...

For the most part, The Game Awards 2022 was an excellent installment in what is quickly becoming the biggest gaming show of the year. We were treated to some incredible announcements, quite a few great games walked away with awards, and it was certainly nice to see the show return to a live format. However, there are always a few weird moments at these kinds of shows, and this year’s Game Awards event was no exception. If anything, this might have been the weirdest Game Awards event yet.
While it’s always a least a little sad that such moments can steal the show from the winners and reveals, it’s not hard to see why everyone is obsessed with some of The Game Awards 2022 moments that almost certainly didn’t go according to plan. After all, it’s not every year that we get to talk about Al Pacino,...

Al Pacino left the Game Awards crowd in hysterics following a surprise appearance at the ceremony.
The Hollywood star of films including The Godfather, Dog Day Afternoon and Scarface was an unexpected presence at the event on Thursday (8 December).
After Pacino was introduced to the stage by host Geoff Keighley, audience members appeared to be in shock that the Oscar-winner had shown up to the ceremony, which is essentially the Academy Awards for video games.
“It’s really good to see you here,” Pacino, 82, said after arriving on the stage, adding: “This is an experience for me.”
At this, the crowd laughed, with Pacino continuing: “[It’s] one I didn’t expect, so here I am, as usual doing surprising things for myself.”
But Pacino admitted he was struggling to see the autocue, stating: “Anyway, it may come as a shock to you but I... It’s hard for me to see the teleprompter.

After Norman Reedus hinted at it earlier this year, Hideo Kojima has officially unveiled Death Stranding 2 at The Game Awards in a stylish new trailer. And yes, those hints in October with Elle Fanning and Shiori Kutsuna were Death Stranding 2.
As per usual, Kojima was cryptic about the game’s details, though he did say that there’s lots of things to look for and talk about in the trailer. When asked for more infomation by The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley, Kojima stated that he wrote the story prior to the pandemic, but ended up re-writing it “from scratch” because of the pandemic. Jokingly, Kojima said that he “didn’t want to predict the future”, which is why he re-wrote it.

Hideo Kojima is continuing his usual cryptic way of dropping info on his upcoming project with another actor reveal for the still-unnamed project. Last month, Kojima revealed that Elle Fanning would be starring in the project, and now you can add Shiori Kutsuna (Deadpool 2) to the roster.
Kojima revealed the actor’s inclusion on the Kojima Productions website, where the an image read “How Come?”, then faded to reveal an image of Shiori Kutsuna with the text “Where Am I?” across her face, similar to the previous image of Fanning.
And as you’d expect, Kojima has said nothing else regarding this new project. It’s obviously not a film, despite Kojima Productions now having a film and television division. So once again, this begs the question of whether this new game is Overdose, the rumoured horror game starring Death Stranding‘s Margaret Qualley, or if this is the...

Most big game showcases are professional affairs that rely on trailers and gameplay demos, but Devolver Digital isn’t like most game companies. The publisher uses every big announcement stream as an excuse to display its unique brand of humor, and 2022 probably won’t be any different.
In 2017, Devolver Digital held its first E3 press conference, which only lasted 15 minutes but made the most of its time by announcing new games, mocking industry trends, and, most importantly, making viewers laugh. Ever since then, the company has produced annual E3 announcement streams, and not even E3 2022’s cancelation can stop it. This summer, gamers can look forward to another Devolver Digital showcase, this time dubbed the “Marketing Countdown to Marketing,” full of comedy, trailers, and gore. If previous Devolver Digital shows are any indication, you should even expect callbacks to previous Diablo Immortal events. In fact, it might not be a...

In the Summer of 2020, games journalist Geoff Keighley arranged the very first Summer Game Fest. Two years later, Keighley’s bold idea for a new kind of video game event is not only still going but is bigger than ever before.
These days, nearly every console manufacturer has its own proprietary digital convention. Thanks in no small part to the lagging interest (and recent cancelations) of E3, the gaming industry lacks that powerhouse unifying event that gamers used to regularly be able to rely on. This year’s summer of game reveals started with PlayStation’s State of Play event, but that was only an appetizer for what Summer Game Fest 2022 is shaping up to be. Unlike similar expos, Summer Game Fest is that one great big showcase that celebrates everything gaming. At the very least, Sgf audiences can expect a smorgasbord of demos and trailers from across the industry.

As E3 continues to do its best impression of the “not quite dead yet” gag, Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest is rapidly becoming the premier place for developers and publishers to share their biggest summer game reveals and announcements. If anything, this year may cement the show’s status as a viable E3 competitor or replacement.
That being said, you should know that Keighley has already stated that you should expect this year’s Summer Game Fest show to primarily focus on previously revealed titles. While the phrase “previously revealed titles” covers a lot of ground (more on that in a bit), it still sounds like there may be fewer world-first reveals at Summer Game Fest 2022 than we’ve seen at Keighley-hosted events in the past.
Still, a brief look at some of Summer Game Fest 2022’s confirmed games strongly suggests that this will be one show you won’t want to miss.

The most wonderful time of the year is finally here if you’re a gamer. Video game fans from all over the world will gather once again in June to celebrate the medium they love so much as well as to learn what their favorite studios and publishers are working on for the Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile. But none of these festivities will happen under the banner of “E3 2022.”
In short, E3 was canceled this year, meaning gamers won’t be able to gather in-person in Los Angeles to play the newest games or cheer on any of those exciting game reveals. While the Entertainment Software Association has promised that an in-person E3 2023 is already in the works, there are plenty of other online video game conferences ready to fill the void in the meantime.

Netflix’s Geeked Week — a five-day virtual fan event which began last year to premiere exclusive news from the streamer — released a trailer for its upcoming content and announced a new set of hosts for this year’s festivities, taking place June 6-10.
The trailer, narrated by David Harbour of “Stranger Things,” promises new footage and information about titles like “The Sandman,” based on the 1990s DC Comics of the same name and starring Tom Sturridge, Gwendoline Christie and Kirby Howell-Baptiste. In 2020 and 2021, many conventions that relied on large physical crowds, such as E3, were canceled to help prevent the potential spread of Covid-19. While some of those expos have since reopened their gates to live attendees, we now know that E3 2022 will not only not take place as a physical event but will also not be replaced with a digital showcase (as was previously rumored).
Recently, the Entertainment Software Association announced that they have decided to completely cancel E3 2022. That means no physical show floor to demo upcoming titles, and no digital Nintendo Direct-like stream to display the latest game trailers and announcements. Hazelight Studios and EA’s It Takes Two took home several prizes at The Game Awards 2021, including best family game, best multiplayer game, and game of the year. The annual ceremony returned to a live ceremony at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday, after it went virtual in 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandmeic.

The trailer feels like a cinematic experience, but Geoff Keighley prefaced the trailer saying that it was gameplay and the trailer title says so as well. The Game Awards, now in their eighth year, return to the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles tonight to honor the year’s best gaming titles, notable influencers and upcoming talent.
Created, hosted and executive produced by G4 alum Geoff Keighley, The Game Awards have grown in scale, social media presence and livestream viewers year-to-year amid a decline in linear ratings for most Hollywood awards shows. While such growth may be a motivator for some, Keighley says his north star remains the future of the gaming world.
“Our secret sauce with the shows is that it’s half an awards show and half a look into the future of where things are going next,” Keighley told Deadline. “That forward momentum is really unique to gaming – that people get excited about seeing the next generation graphics, or something they haven’t seen before… I think it creates excitement, creates urgency.”

Despite the show’s name, recent years have proven that The Game Awards is as much (if not more of) a platform for studios to make major announcements as it is a chance to celebrate the best games and creators of the year.
While the Game Awards team has been hyping up a series of major reveals that have fans buzzing, nobody is entirely sure what we can realistically expect from this year’s show. The Game Awards crew has done a great job of keeping that ship from leaking too much, and even the most “solid” rumors about the event come with a disclaimer that reminds us that absolutely anything could happen.
With that in mind, here are a few Game Awards announcement/reveal predictions that feel like fairly safe bets (as well as a couple of big swing predictions thrown in there just for fun).

The recent kerfluffle regarding The Game Awards and Keighley’s reluctance to address Activision|Blizzard highlights the issue with “toxic positivity.” Last night, The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley came under fire for his remarks about staying neutral regarding Activision|Blizzard. While he’s since clarified those remarks, it’s still indicative of a larger problem with just “focusing on the […]
