Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios are building The Twisted Childhood Universe, which will consist of horror movies inspired by children’s stories. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 got the universe started, paving the way for Bambi: The Reckoning, Pinocchio: Unstrung, and Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare (not to mention Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3), building up to the crossover movie Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble. Written and directed by Scott Chambers, who is also producing all of these Twisted Childhood movies, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare is currently in production – and Variety got their hands on an image of the film’s horror version of Peter Pan! You can check it out at the bottom of this article.

When 20th Century Fox began production on the first "Planet of the Apes" film, they enlisted special effects makeup artist John Chambers to help transform actors like Roddy McDowall, Kim Hunter, Maurice Evans, and James Whitmore into anthropomorphic apes. Chambers was already famous for having perfected Spock's Vulcan ears on "Star Trek," but a society of intelligent apes who were capable of communicating was like something straight out of "The Twilight Zone." Rather than create ape masks, Chambers instead crafted individual prosthetic pieces to be applied in sections, allowing the actors to emote with their own facial muscles -- a technique that revolutionized the art of special effects makeup.
Now, over 50 years later, the intelligent apes have traded practical makeup prosthetics in favor of breathtaking and realistic digital artistry. When it comes to 2011's "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," /Film's Larry Fried declared, "There is simply no...

Simon Chambers’ documentary is unsparing in capturing his theatrical relation’s endearing, sometimes desperate and often infuriating decline
Films about film-makers and their kith and kin sometimes get dismissed as self-serving, self-indulgent or even – everyone’s favourite smear word these days – narcissistic. Director Simon Chambers’s wrenching film about his relationship with his aged uncle David is none of those things; I can think of few documentaries that are more honest, self-scrutinising and revelatory about ageing, familial love and its limits, and the whole tragicomic process of dying. It’s the sort of thing you might call “raw” – in the sense that wounds are raw – but the craftsmanship is never raw, despite the obvious lack of budget.
Chambers, mostly a voice narrating the story, and occasionally a presence on screen, explains how he was effectively summoned back to London from Delhi where he was making a film about cars. (The...

Nicole Kidman has reigned supreme at movie theaters since 2021, when she and AMC revealed an instantly meme-able spot for “We Make Movies Better,” which urged consumers to return to theaters in the wake of the devastating coronavirus pandemic.
Now, another topic of utmost concern to exhibitors might be getting some high-wattage star treatment: those darn people who won’t silence their cellphones when a movie is playing.
Last week, Marvel and Disney screened a spot that certainly felt like an in-theater PSA of sorts as part of its Deadpool & Wolverine presentation at CinemaCon.
The spot began with Deadpool telling Wolverine about his theories for Secret Wars, a reference to Marvel Studios’ upcoming crossover movie, Avengers: Secret Wars. But every time Deadpool began to say what he’d heard will happen in the movie, a cellphone rang and interrupted him.
Eventually, Wolverine had enough — and addressed the camera directly, flinging (bleeped...

Around 8 a.m. on a cool, clear Monday in mid-November, James Cox Chambers Jr. is in Gresham Park, in southeast Atlanta, bouncing on the balls of his feet, shadowboxing the air in front of him. Dressed in a black hoodie with a Palestinian flag on it, black sweatpants, black New Balances, black-and-red work gloves, a white-and-black keffiyeh, with a balaclava ski mask perched on his head, Chambers is surrounded by a growing crowd. But at that moment, focused on his warmup routine, he looks very much alone.

Ever since Rocky took the world by storm in 1976, people have been enamored with the idea of an underdog fighting his way to victory. There is something about two people entering an arena and just seeing who is the best. Movies help us find the themes and metaphors we can use for this mentality in our everyday life. If you’re in a funk and then play the Rocky theme, you suddenly become more motivated than ever to get over that mountain called life. With Creed IV reportedly in the works, we figured this would be a great time to put together a list of the best fighting movies other than Rocky.

As David Newlyn Gale reached his mid-80s, he lived in his own home, but not in the most resplendent conditions. He cohabitated with an untold number of mice in a hoarder’s horror of detritus, a place chocked with tins of food that probably fell off store shelves around World War II.
Gale’s legs were swollen and reddened by eczema, and he could best be described as only semi-ambulatory. Despite the challenges of his circumstances, the former stage actor and teacher took tremendous joy in life, erupting into song or quoting Shakespeare continually. But he could also be a bit of a drama queen – frequently convinced he was nearing his last breath.

Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble will bring together horror versions of Pooh, Peter Pan, Bambi, & more
Made on a budget of less than $100,000, director Rhys Frake-Waterfield’s movie Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (watch it Here) earned more than $6 million during its global release in early 2023, so the sequel Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 is set to receive a three-day theatrical run in the United States on March 26, 27, and 28th, courtesy of Fathom Events, ITN Studios, and Jagged Edge Productions. (Tickets can be purchased online at Fathom Events or at participating theatre box offices.) We’ve previously heard that Frake-Waterfield and producer Scott Jeffrey Chambers are planning to create a cinematic universe with the Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey films and other horror movies inspired by children’s stories, like Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, Bambi: The Reckoning, and Pinocchio Unstrung. Now Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios have officially announced that this cinematic universe, which is being referred to as The Twisted Childhood Universe,...

Ah, the magic of the public domain. The arch nemesis of studios and corporations and copyright lawyers everywhere is nothing but a boon to the rest of us, allowing literally anyone to get their hands on famous properties and shamelessly twist and pervert them beyond all recognition. That's precisely what happened with the beloved character of Winnie the Pooh just over two years ago, allowing for a slew of knockoff (and frankly terrible) B-movie horror flicks like "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" and its upcoming sequel. Well, things are about to kick into another gear entirely as an entire shared universe is apparently now in the works.
Just when you thought it was safe to visit the Hundred Acre Wood again. In the bloodiest and most un-family-friendly news we'll probably get this week, Variety revealed that the creative team responsible for "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" is now...

Six years after “Avengers: Infinity War,” another film is vying to become the most ambitious crossover event in history, this time in the lower-budget cinematic realm.
The filmmakers behind “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” — the micro-budget slasher that sparked headlines for turning A. A. Milne’s jovial bear into a feral serial killer and made an incredible $5.2 million at the box office after costing under $50,000 to make — have unveiled “Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble,” bringing together Pooh and various other beloved children’s characters gone bad.
Where “Avengers: Infinity War” had Iron Man, Spider-Man, Black Panther and Thanos, “Poohniverse” — from prolific horror collaborators Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios — will team Winnie the Pooh with murderous versions of figures including Bambi, Tinkerbell, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Tigger, Piglet, The Mad Hatter and Sleeping Beauty for an IP-bludgeoning frenzy due for release in 2025. Indeed, on the poster, which Variety is also able to exclusively reveal,...

“Always be two steps ahead,” repeatedly says Rachel Hyde, the famous alter ego of the namesake character in Hammer Studios’ “Doctor Jekyll.” The film’s director, Joe Stephenson, and his screenwriter Dan Kelly-Mulhern don’t take her advice, and it’s much to the detriment of their contemporary adaptation of the 1886 Robert Louis Stevenson novella, which can’t decide singularly what Jekyll’s transformation is a metaphor for. All volunteered options are either obvious or severely undercooked. Though Stephenson offers plenty of suitably spooky imagery, and importantly finds a more-than-game collaborator in Izzard as both the good and evil doctor, “Doctor Jekyll” is meandering and empty, an update with neither enough loyalty to its source material or imagination to make its departures meaningful.
The film stars Scott Chambers as Rob Stevenson, a just-released ex-convict whose brother Ewan (Morgan Watkins) secures him a job “providing care” for Dr. Nina Jekyll (Izzard...

Filmmaker Simon Chambers was living in New Delhi and planning to shoot a documentary about traffic congestion in India when his 85-year-old Uncle David called him to say that he thinks he may be dying. But when Simon returned to London, he found David not on the brink of death but rather starved for attention. A former thespian with the flair for the dramatic, David insisted Simon bring his camera with him whenever he visited his house to check up on him. The camera’s presence clearly boosts David’s spirits because it allows him to “perform” for someone once again, even if that mostly amounts to singing bits of old songs or quoting passages from “King Lear.”
“Much Ado About Dying” follows Simon as he struggles to care for his aging uncle in his final years, a difficult feat under any circumstances but made even more challenging by David Newlyn Gale’s cheeky stubbornness.

Stars: Eddie Izzard, Lindsay Duncan, Scott Chambers, Robyn Cara, Morgan Watkins | Written by Dan Kelly-Mulhern | Directed by Joe Stephenson
Eddie Izzard stars in this gender-flipped reboot of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic horror story. Produced by the resurrected Hammer Studio, it’s creepy and atmospheric, but altogether too restrained, when it should have been allowed to run riot.
A newspaper headline at the beginning of Doctor Jekyll states that “Trans CEO Nina Jekyll” (Eddie Izzard), the head of a large pharmaceutical corporation, has become a recluse, disappearing from the public eye due to health issues. In fact, she’s holed up at a lavish British mansion, where her no-nonsense housekeeper Poole (Lindsay Duncan) has been trying to hire a live-in care assistant to assist Nina with taking her medication and various other duties.

Adapted from an excruciatingly honest and open poem written by a friend and collaborator, filmmaker Paul Chambers’ raw, experimental drama Three Bull-Mastiffs in a Corner Kitchen takes us far beyond the realms of a slice-of-life realist drama and deep into the underbelly of addiction and toxicity plaguing a young man’s life. Chambers worked with co-writer Sam Bately who found that bringing his demons to the fore through writing during treatment aided him on his journey to recovery. The harsh and unforgiving world presented in Three Bull-Mastiffs in a Corner Kitchen is not romanticised, judged, prejudiced or seen through a lens of poverty porn but rather is a lived-in and accurate reflection of so many living in deprived areas of the UK as represented in Chambers’ use of non-professional actors personally familiar with issues of addiction for some of the roles. As Three Bull-Mastiffs in a Corner Kitchen premieres on...

“Much Ado About Dying,” Simon Chamber’s documentary about elderly care that won the best directing award at IDFA in 2022, has been acquired by First Run Features for the U.S. and Canada.
The feature, produced by Soilsiú Films and Tiffin Films, will have its U.S. festival premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival ahead of a national theatrical release set to launch at New York’s Film Forum on March 15.
Chambers’ third feature-length documentary, “Much Ado About Dying” deals with the issue of caring for elderly and dying relatives. “From the dusty mesa, her looming shadow grows.”
10 years ago, these ominous lyrics (courtesy of the alternative country duo The Handsome Family) introduced us to a horrific world of crime, conspiracy and multi-layered madness in the infamous intro to HBO’s hit show, True Detective. From that very first episode, we all knew this was going to be something special, with Nic Pizzolatto and Cary Fukunaga teaming up for a cinematic fusion of different genres that would end up earning countless accolades.
And while this made it difficult for subsequent seasons to compete with that masterful debut (even if they were all entertaining in their own unique ways), Issa López’s ongoing True Detective: Night Country is finally harkening back to the quasi-supernatural terror that flavored Marty and Rust’s story, with the showrunner going so far as to describe her new tale as a dark mirror of the first season.

True Detective: Night Country hasn’t been shy about drawing connections to season 1 of the hit crime series, down to the very clear supernatural bent of the new case, which sees Detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) investigating mysterious disappearances in rural Alaska during the region’s long polar night. Trailers for season 4 have even teased a familiar swirling symbol, the same one that a pair of odd couple Louisiana detectives followed all the way to Carcosa and the Yellow King back in 2014. In fact, with the premiere of Night Country, it really feels like we’re back in the “good ol’ days” with Rust and Marty.
Danvers and Navarro’s case inevitably leads them to the icy sea beyond the fictional town of Ennis, where they find the final resting place of the scientists who disappeared...

Robert Louis Stevenson’s horror novella The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is a legendary story that has been spooking audience since the 19th century.
Now Hammer Horror returns to the big screen with a modern-day adaptation of Stevenson’s work, can it transform into memorable version of the story?
Directed by Joe Stephenson, Doctor Jekyll revolves around young Rob, a drug addict who has just been released from prison. Eager to prove himself and also to earn visitation rights to his dying daughter, Rob is sent to be a caregiver for the reclusive billionaire Doctor Nina Jekyll. As the two bond, Rob starts to suspect that there is something not quite right about his new employer…
Casting Eddie Izzard as the two-sided eponymous anti-hero is the cleverest aspect of this film. The actress is having the best time in this gender-bent exploration of Stevenson’s novel.

Vendôme Pictures has acquired the remake rights to produce a scripted adaptation of ”A Fire Within,” an award-winning human rights documentary about Ethiopian refugee Edgegayehu “Edge” Taye.
The 2021 nonfiction film documented how Taye, a torture survivor, flees to the U.S. only to discover that her former torturer is living there and working alongside her at her new job in a midtown Atlanta hotel. Directed by Christopher Chambers, ”A Fire Within” has won several awards on the film festival circuit after premiering at the Atlanta Film Festival, where it won the audience award for best documentary.

Enter Rob Stevenson (Scott Chambers) – and yes, his middle name is Louis – a young man who has recently served time in prison,...

Considering Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde was originally just a short novella, it’s remarkable quite how many stories and iterations have been built out of the original text – the latest one of the most unique and original to date, as Joe Stephenson helms Doctor Jekyll, starring Eddie Izzard and Scott Chambers in the leading roles.
To mark the film’s release we had the pleasure of speaking to the director, paired with the eponymous lead role Izzard, as well as a solo chat with Chambers. We discuss this latest adaptation, and the progressive depiction of a trans character, while they also speak about the return of Hammer, what gives this story longevity – and how they were allowed to improvise on set…

Disney has promoted sales executive Matt Kalavsky to SVP and general sales manager of Domestic Theatrical Distribution. He will report to the studio’s theatrical distribution EVP Tony Chambers, who announced the promotion on Wednesday.
Kalavsky will oversee distribution of all of Disney’s films in the U.S. and Canada, including upcoming films like Marvel Studios’ “The Marvels,” Disney Animation’s “Wish,” and Pixar’s “Elio.” Kalavsky will also oversee Disney’s Cinema Partnership’s program, non-theatrical sales, and the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.
Kalavsky will succeed outgoing domestic distribution SVP Ken Caldwell, who is retiring at the end of the year.
“I’m absolutely delighted for Matt to take the domestic reins moving forward,” Chambers said. “For more than 20 years, Matt has been both a terrific leader and an invaluable partner to Ken, the entire Disney team and to the domestic exhibition community. Not only that but...

Frasier is back, and while the new revival show is neither disappointing nor remarkable, it's at least managed not to sully the legacy of Frasier Crane. The original show remains a beloved sitcom, running for 11 seasons between 1993-2004 and following the character's exploits in his native Seattle. At the end of that series, the titular psychiatrist jets off to Chicago where, we learn from the revival show, he hosted a "Dr. Phil"-style talk show for many years. After his TV career ended and his marriage broke down, however, the lovably pompous doctor decided to head for Paris to write a new book. But in the first episode of the "Frasier" reboot, he stops in Boston to visit his son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) and is convinced to stay, not just to take up an offer of employment at Harvard, but to reconnect with Freddy and make up for years of shaky fathering.

When people remember "The Twilight Zone," they usually talk about the endings. Certainly, the show's endings are the greatest fodder for parodies — from "Treehouse of Horror" on "The Simpsons" to "The Scary Door," a show-within-a-show in "Futurama."
As an anthology series, each venture into the Twilight Zone stands on its own terms and ends conclusively; the only consistent face is series creator Rod Serling as the narrator. The whole point of the series is to put its characters in bewildering circumstances, so twist endings were a way to wring out one last bit of shock. That's not to say the endings were all about shock value; the best twist endings in "The Twilight Zone" reflect the episode's message or leave the viewer with a new perspective on what they just watched.
Happy endings aren't an impossibility in "The Twilight Zone," but they aren't the ones that people remember. Here are...

Captain Jason Chambers introduced a new element to the Below Deck franchise – the mirrorball disco helmet.
After the tip meeting, the makeshift helmet is given to the Below Deck Down Under crew member who missed the mark during the previous charter. The crew member has to wear the helmet out on the town and is usually met with a little laughter and in some cases, annoyance.
Chambers told Showbiz Cheat Sheet the mirrorball disco helmet was created long before he joined the Below Deck franchise. It originally was designed to get a party started.
What is the origin of the ‘Below Deck Down Under’ mirrorball disco helmet?
Chambers opened up about how the mirrorball disco helmet got started.
“We used to cruise around up in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea and all these remote places. And we had a helicopter and everything. In a helicopter hangar, there’s not much...

Captain Jason Chambers weathered some big challenges during scandal-packed Season 2 of Below Deck Down Under. And it wasn’t just the usual problems associated with running a luxurious charter yacht. Bosun Luke Jones was fired after he climbed into Margot Sisson’s bed naked without her consent while she was passed out drunk. Then second stew Laura Bileskalne was dismissed for her inappropriate behavior toward deckhand Adam Kodra the same night. Later in the season Korda was also sent home after a number of serious mistakes and for not performing to standard. So it’s hardly surprising then that Chambers had a lot to talk about with TV Insider as he looked back on an eventful season of the Bravo show, which is currently available for streaming on Peacock. This season was pretty eventful. I think of how you, Aesha Scott, and production acted so quickly when it came to Margot and Luke.

Tumi Mhlongo Made a ‘Big Move Up’ to ‘Below Deck Med’ Chief Stew, Captain Jason Explains [Exclusive]
Captain Jason Chambers from Below Deck Down Under is eager to see how Tumi Mhlongo embraces her new role of chief stew on Below Deck Mediterranean.
Mhlongo was a second stew on Below Deck Down Under Season 1 and quickly became chief stew Aesha Scott’s right-hand person. Despite being relatively new to yachting at the time, Mhlongo was a natural leader and created gorgeous tablescapes.

Even though Mhlongo was a valued crew member, Chambers said transitioning from second to chief stew is not always an easy process.

“I’m interested to see,” he added. “It’s a big move up to be a chief stewardess and have that responsibility. And especially on a TV show,...

Captain Jason Chambers from Below Deck Down Under may be the new stud of the sea, but he’s always been self-conscious of his teeth.
He recently told Showbiz Cheat Sheet why it took until now to make a big change and how his teeth became a long-running family joke.

I probably needed to have teeth taken out and it was going to cost this much money,” Chambers recalled. “And then they asked my mom and dad, does he play a sport? I did play football. So the dentist said, ‘Oh, he’ll probably get knocked out anyway.'”

Film studios don’t get much more iconic than Hammer Films, the production company that defined the horror genre in Britain throughout the 1950s, 1960s and beyond, releasing classics including Dracula, The Curse Of Frankenstein and The Mummy. Whilst the studio’s repertoire expands beyond just horror movies, its back catalogue of monsters and more are its signature, and have had a lasting impact on the genre to this day. Nearly 90 years after Hammer was founded, they’re moving into a new era with the release of Doctor Jekyll – a modern take on the classic double-identity story, starring comedy and screen legend Eddie Izzard in the titular role.
Izzard plays Nina Jekyll, an infamous doctor who takes on some hired help in the form of ex-convict Rob (Scott Chambers). Little does Rob know, he’s part of a sinister master plan concocted by Nina’s alter-ego, Rachel Hyde. Chaos and weirdness ensures,...

Members of the Below Deck Down Under production team and cast say that the decision to intervene and then fire two castmates after they were caught on camera engaging in non-consensual, sexually inappropriate behavior was about maintaining a safe working environment and “not anything to be congratulated.”
In a Los Angeles Times interview, an executive producer on the Bravo reality show, as well as members of its production team and the Northern Sun yacht crew, discussed how the series handled multiple instances of inappropriate misconduct during two recent episodes of the Australian spinoff. Episodes six and seven of the show’s second season, which aired back-to-back earlier this month, chronicled multiple instances of sexual misconduct on the Northern Sun luxury super yacht by former castmembers.

The latest episode of Bravo’s Below Deck Down Under Season 2 saw two crew members get fired due to their non-consensual sexual advances to co-workers.
Bosun Luke Jones and second steward Laura Bileskalne were kicked off the yacht for misconduct after producers had to step in following a chilling and scary moment.
The crew had a night of drinking and third steward Margot Sisson went to bed to rest up. Jones later appeared on camera and tried to get into Sisson’s bed as he was naked. The fourth wall was broken as producers intervened to tell Jones to get out of the bed, where Sisson was unconscious.
Jones ignored repeated requests by producers to step off the top bunk bed, even shutting and locking the door on them. Producers finally were able to get Jones out of Sisson’s room and had him go to his own quarters.

Captain Lee Rosbach is speaking out on the sexual misconduct incidents that took place on this week’s episode of “Below Deck Down Under”.
During Monday’s episode, Luke Jones and Laura Bileskalne were both fired as a result of their “despicable” behaviour, as Rosbach described while chatting with Us Weekly.
“I’m sure they’ll be paying the price for it for a long time to come. As they should,” the “Below Deck” captain told the outlet.
When the “Down Under” crew returned to the superyacht after a night spent drinking alcohol off the boat, Jones climbed into third stew Margot Sisson’s bed naked and “without consent” while she was asleep, despite the fact that she’d made it clear she didn’t want him in her cabin.

Two Below Deck Down Under stars were fired after engaging in inappropriate behavior with other crew members.
Luke Jones and Laura Bileskalne were both fired for sexual misconduct during season 2. Monday’s episode showed that Captain Jason Chambers fired Jones for climbing into stewardess Margot Sisson’s bed while naked without her consent while she was sleeping.
Bileskalne was also fired for her inappropriate behavior regarding how she reacted to the incident that occurred with Sisson and Jones and a separate incident with Adam Kodra that same night.
The night first started with the crew going out in Cairns, Australia, together. Many of them took multiple shots and Sisson commented that she felt “really drunk” while at dinner. In a video shared to Instagram on Wednesday, he thanked the production crew for not only bringing the inappropriate conduct to his attention, but actively stepping in and stopping a potential sexual assault while the cameras rolled.
Chambers addressed the two incidents, saying, “this is not acceptable.” In his caption, he wrote, “Respect boundaries.”

Brittini Burton, a Below Deck Down Under Season 1 deckhand, said it is important to emphasize how the women came together on the boat following the sexual assault filmed during season 2.
Chief stew Aesha Scott became extremely protective of stew Margot Sisson after bosun Luke Jones came to her cabin naked while she was unconscious. He climbed into her bunk, which is when producers intervened. Horrified, Scott ended up staying with Sisson for some time while she slept to protect her. She then told Captain Jason Chambers who swiftly removed Jones from the boat. Jones was fired the next day.
Burton, who currently runs a female empowerment business, applauded how both Scott and chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph nurtured and supported Sisson after the incident. She said the display of support and protection was extremely important and should be applauded.

Below Deck Down Under’s Margot Sisson is speaking up after a series of incidents in this Monday’s episode, including one that found crewmate Luke Jones naked in her bunk while she was passed out.
During the seventh episode of the Bravo series’ Season 2, the crew had returned from a night of drinking, and 3rd stewardess Sisson told chief steward Aesha Scott that she wanted to go to bed. “All I want is water and bed — no Luke,” she noted.

Below Deck Down Under bosun João Franco may be new to the series, but not the franchise. Franco made his first appearance on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 3 as a deckhand. He returned for Below Deck Med Season 4 as bosun and has been working on racking up certifications while off the show.
Franco has been a controversial figure on Below Deck. He majorly clashed with chief stew Hannah Ferrier and bosun Conrad Empson during his first season of the series. Franco also dated one stew while flirting with another stew and got extremely messy when he would get drunk.
And while Below Deck Med Season 3 was tough and he received backlash, he returned for Below Deck Med Season 4 as bosun and as a redemption season. He patched up any conflicts he had with Ferrier and curbed his drinking. And while he definitely bickered less with the crew, he still ended up making waves.
