- In September 9, 2018, he disappeared after jumping off a cruise ship. Küblböck was a private passenger on the cruise liner AIDAluna, which left Hamburg for New York City on August 29, 2018. He jumped overboard at about five o'clock in the morning while the ship was in open waters about 185 km north of St. John's in the Labrador Sea, with a water temperature of about 10 °C (50 °F). On September 10, the Canadian Coast Guard abandoned the search.
