Originally from Minnesota, Rosie earned her undergraduate degree at The
College of Saint Benedict in central Minnesota, earning her degree in
English Literature with secondary degrees in Fine Art and
Communications. She studied abroad in London, England while in school
and then returned there to work in advertising post graduation. She
also worked at the ad agency Fallon McElligott in the Twin Cities and
was bitten by the directing bug after working on the set of a Hush
Puppies shoe commercial. She moved to San Diego, California to work in
marketing communications and then executive-level sales before opening
up her home-based production company, Front Porch Productions in 2001.
She started graduate school in 2003 to obtain an MFA in film production
with a concentration in directing. In 2005, she was a national finalist
in the Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmakers Award competition for her
commercial "Kid Entrepreneur," and went on to win the overall title in
2006 for another commercial, "The Reel Monkey". "The Reel Monkey"
played at over 21,000 theaters across the U.S. While in grad school she
was mentored by director Harold Becker (Taps, Sea of Love, Malice) and
also earned a coveted directing internship through the Academy of
Television Arts and Sciences where she shadowed four television
directors from CBS which landed her work with CBS.com. She works as a
freelance filmmaker and is writing a film school guidebook.
