One of my favorite indie horror releases of the 2015, We Are Still Here is making its way to Blu-ray and DVD just in time for Halloween:
Press Release: A tragic death leaves a married couple devastated, but their misery soon turns into mortal fear in the thoroughly haunting new film We Are Still Here. The Dark Sky Films/Mpi theatrical release, from the producers of The House of the Devil and Cheap Thrills, comes to Blu-ray and DVD on October 6, 2015. We Are Still Here is an atmospheric, classically constructed haunted house story, but with modern, heightened tension and action. After their teenage son Bobby is killed in a car crash, Paul and Anne Sacchetti move to an isolated 19th-century house in the New England countryside to try to start a new life. But soon the grieving couple begin to sense they are not alone in the old house. The Sacchettis'...

We previously told you that Simon Pegg and George A. Romero have filmed segments. On top of that, we’ve been told that you can expect interviews with Max Brooks, Stuart Gordon, and Sid Haig. Doc of the Dead was announced earlier this year and promises to be a comprehensive tribute to zombie culture. The project is directed by Alexandre O. Philippe (The People vs. George Lucas) and segments have already been filmed with Simon Pegg and George Romero, among others.
The documentary is still in the early stages of filming, but the first trailer has been released and we have it for you to watch. We also have been provided with more information on the project, including a list of horror icons who are set to make an appearance:
Any Town, Anywhere USA – Denver, Co – October 24, 2012 – They’Re You. They’Re Us. They’Re Everywhere…They’Re All Messed Up…They’Re Dead. Doc Of The Dead is the definitive Zombie culture documentary, and speculative chronicle of the Zombie Apocalypse. The film features appearances by Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) and the Grandfather of Zombie-dom,...

Mayan prophecies notwithstanding, terror will be coming to video stores nearly once every three weeks. The following titles are just but a taste of the mainstream releases. Valentine’s Day, however, will offer North American audiences a hint of what may be a very controversial title for some, and a godsend to others just because of the subject matter:
(Jan 3) – Guillermo del Toro’s remake of Don't Be Afraid of the Dark gets dibs as one of the many titles to be released first for 2012. This video release will offer a three part, making-of documentary: "The Story," "Blackwood's Mansion," "The Creatures." The Blu-ray edition will include a conceptual art gallery.
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark [Blu-ray]
For an early or late Christmas present, "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark: Blackwood's Guide to Dangerous Fairies", by Del Toro, can be a great accompaniment prior to rewatching the film again. This...

This week's episode of Same Shit, Different Show involves a guest that DC readers/listeners are already more than familiar with. And while you may hear Buz and Andrew Kasch on a monthly basis via Dinner For Fiends, this is an entirely different kind of conversation - and every bit as entertaining.
From Buz's site: "This week's guest is one of my dearest friends, Andrew Kasch, whom I owe most of my career too (along with Jon Condit, and Steve Barton). This is another super long episode, so be prepared for a download. So kick back, relax, and enjoy two friends discussing all the different times we’ve almost died trying to make it in this damn town."
It's a casual and candid conversation ranging from lucky breaks to the juggernaut project known as Never Sleep Again, with lots of laughs and fun along the way.
Head on over to Buz's Same Shit,...

J.J. Abrams' upcoming film Super 8 looks like it's going to be incredible. It's my most anticipated film of the summer. From what I've seen in the trailers and clips, I had no doubt it was going to be a great movie, now there are a bunch of little first impression reviews that have hit the net and twitter confirming the films awesomeness.
Here's a little round up of the first impression reviews, read through them and let us know what your excitement level for this film is:
Slashfilm: Loved it, they don’t make these types of movies anymore. The best thing I can say about the film is that I loved the characters/setting/tone so much that I probably would have enjoyed it just as much as a Stand By Me-like coming of age drama without the sci-fi/train crash/action. Its one of those...

Speaking as Steve Barton and not Uncle Creepy here for a moment. I am going to get personal so if you don't want to read this, please just move on to another story. I'm allowing myself this space as a means to finally work out all this stuff that's been lingering in my head and maybe share something with others who are going through the same thing I have been for the last ten years.
On September 11th, 2001 thousands of people were lost. Tragedy had hit Stateside on a devastating level. One of those gone was David L. Tirado, one of my absolute best friends and the gentlest soul I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. I was in the city that day and watched the whole thing go down. It was horrific. Worse than anything a filmmaker could possibly conjure. Because of all traffic in and out of Manhattan...

We hope you have been enjoying our Indie Horror Month coverage, but believe us when we say we have saved the best for last. As a means to send the month out with a well placed shiver to cycle down your spine, we're going to be showing one of our favorite indie movies ever. Right here. One Night Only. For Free!
Several years ago filmmaker Mike Costanza shot a movie called The Collingswood Story that despite massive acclaim no one knew what to do with. You see, in the film Costanza employed webcam technology. While that sounds like no big deal now, this film was made back when this tech was new, and possible distributors were worried that no one would get it.
As a result, unless you live in the UK, the film is very hard to find. Until now. We've partnered with Costanza to give the film its first and only online premiere.

Earlier this year I caught wind of a promising indie that was about to play the Slamdance Film Festival; it was called Atrocious, and I remember thinking "Man, with a title like that, the movie better be decent. Film critics Love words like 'atrocious.'" Fortunately I have no problem enjoying "found footage" horror films, provided they add a new wrinkle to the sub-genre, and I wasn't alone in finding things to like about Atrocious. In addition to my own review (at FEARnet), our own Todd Brown dug the flick, as did Steve Barton (at Dread Central) and Ryan Daley (at Bloody-Disgusting).So guess what? You heard it here at Twitch first, an English-language version is coming. Our sources are telling us that producers Jason Blum (Paranormal...

Our friend Steve Barton from Dread Central has had his hands full this weekend. First it was the news about John Carpenter's health and now we get an official title for the 4th installment of the Scream franchise. While attending the La Screamfest Film Festival Barton got a chance to catch up with David "Sheriff Dewey" Arquette to talk Scream 4 (in theaters April 15th, 2011). Check it out after the break...

2009 has been mired in death. We lost a lot of icons over the past few months, and it's with a heavy heart that we report we've just lost another one. Dan O'Bannon, age 63, is no longer with us.
According to Harry Knowles at AICN:
"Just a few moments ago, I received a call from David Fein, the amazing producer behind that stunning Alien Legacy dvd set, to tell me Dan O'Bannon had just passed away. Dan had been in the hospital this past week fighting to hang on, but lost the battle not too long ago - and David wanted to alert the world of the passing of one of Geek's great creators."
At press time it's not known what illness O'Bannon was facing, but I'm sure in his typical fashion he fought it tooth and nail. Dan's laundry list of credits reads like an essential genre viewing manual. He wrote such gems as Alien,...

Icon. That's a word never to be thrown around lightly because it applies to so few individuals. Jacinto Molina, best known to fans as Paul Naschy, was the embodiment of that word both here and in his home country of Spain. It's with a heavy heart that we share the news with you that he's no longer with us.
Molina lost his ongoing battle with cancer today at the all too young age of 75.
Throughout mainly the Sixties and Seventies Naschy was the Spanish equivalent to the great Lon Chaney, Sr. There are few movie monsters out there that he did not don the make-up and portray, from Dracula to his most famous creation: the tortured werewolf known as Waldemar Daninsky, whom he played twelve different times. The man has done it all and will be severely missed.
Today the hearts of horror fans everywhere are a bit heavier and...

When you go to many various conventions, you start to see a lot of the same smiling faces over and over again. As a result you become a road family of sorts. Clayton Hill had a smile I'll never forget, and it's with a very heavy heart that we report he is no longer with us.
Clayton broke into showbiz around the age of six and has been working within it ever since, whether behind or in front of the camera. Fans will best remember him as the "Sweater Zombie" in George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead.
Clayton died last night, July 25th, in Pittsburgh, Pa, following a stroke. We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to remember him as the consummate professional that he was and to offer our sincerest condolences to his many friends, family, and constituents, especially his partner in life and love,...
