Netflix released the first trailer for its upcoming sci-fi series “The I-Land” on Thursday, revealing that I-Land is actually a high stakes simulation put on as some kind of survival test for its participants.
The seven-part limited series, starring Natalie Martinez and Kate Bosworth, envisions a “Hunger Games”-esque scenario where 10 people wake up on a treacherous island with no memory of who they are or how they got there.
Netflix’s official description of the show says, “They soon discover this world is not as it seems. Faced with the I-Land’s extreme psychological and physical challenges, they must rise to their better selves — or die as their worst ones.”

The recently released glimpse at the thriller, previously teased in a Fyre Festival-inspired video, gives us more of a sense of what happens after 10 people wake up on a dangerous island and have no idea who they are or how they arrived at the tropical paradise. “Faced with the I-Land’s extreme psychological and physical challenges, they must rise to their better selves — or die as their worst ones,” the show’s official synopsis reads.

Netflix dropped the teaser for “I-Land,” its upcoming “mind-bending limited series event” starring Natalie Martinez and Kate Bosworth on Tuesday, showing us what the I-Land is all about. And guys, this sci-fi show appears to be what would happen if you combined Fyre Festival, the plot of “Lost” and a slasher movie.
The video, which you can view above, starts off as pretty much a shot-for-shot remake of the infamous promo for the fraudulent “luxury music festival” founded by Billy McFarland and Ja Rule, with bikini-clad women prancing around the I-Land as title cards flash across the screen that read, “An immersive experience so exclusive, captivating and breathtaking… once you arrive, you’ll never leave.” And then all hell breaks loose.

The first night of the mini-series was provided for reviewing purposes prior to broadcast.
Normally drenched in the testosterone-fueled basic cable minutate of rescuing bars and mastering ink, Spike this week is launching its own scripted mini-series surrounding the events of Tutankhamun and his short, but brutal, reign as the Pharoah of Egypt. The series, succinctly titled Tut, is awash in the requisite amount of lavishly designed sets you can imagine are required by a show set around 1320 B.C., and it gets decent mileage out of a simple political court backstabbing plot in its first night.
Unfortunately, the show’s creators give you little reason to invest much time into Tut’s barely-a-decade rule, the course of which will spill out over the course of three nights beginning this Sunday. Tut’s rule begins when his father is poisoned by an infidel, and the young boy must begin navigating...

Spike is entering the world of big time productions with Tut, a three-night, six hour event series starring Ben Kingsley and Avan Jogia, and while I’m not sure about the history, it certainly looks like an interesting ride.
The series covers his rise to power, and those who closely surround him during his reign. Apparently, the underhanded, scheming tactics of those surrounding thrones are not limited to any specific set of kingdoms.
As you might imagine, because you’re caught up on GoT, boy kings have a tendency to get pushed around.

The season finale of Tyrant clocked in at 50 minutes and one second, and the writers didn’t waste even that last second. After Jamal (Ashraf Barhom) played his part to a tee on last week’s episode, maybe a little too well, Barry (Adam Rayner) was confident that he would succeed in his undertaking. The plan was moving along as expected, his family was packed and on the verge of getting out of harm’s way, and at least Barry would have a final memorable day with his brother before everything hit the fan. Slowly the entire plan unraveled and by the time the screen faded to black tonight, we hadn’t quite reached the extent of worse case scenario, but the characters were all pretty close to it.
