Inspired by this year's nominated films, our staffers sought out books they were based on (we'll be so smart during Sunday's show!) Tell us what you think of our choices - and what you're reading. Kim Hubbard, Books EditorHer Pick: The Mayor of MacDougal Street by Dave Van Ronk and Elijah Wald I loved the bleak beauty of the Coen brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis (which was - criminally - nominated only for Sound Mixing and Cinematography). The Mayor of MacDougal Street is the story of the man who inspired it: '60s folk icon Dave Van Ronk. Best to listen...

As Nora Ephron put it: "The tragedies of your life one day have the potential to be comic stories the next." Our staffers have found three memoirs that use humor to redeem the painful moments and sweeten the happy ones. Let us know what you think - and what you're reading. Allison Adato, Senior Editor Her Pick: Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh Allie Brosh's graphic memoir has me laughing so hard that coffee keeps threatening to come out my nose (really, a warning should come at the start of the chapter on cake). At other times I'm genuinely...

The staples are terrific, but it's always fun to add new treats to your turkey day lineup. Tell us what you think of the books our staffers are consulting for inspiration - and let us know what you're reading. Betsy Gleick, Executive Editor Her Pick: Smitten Kitchen by Deb Perelman I'm cruising through my many cookbooks to get new ideas (my daughters have already insisted I make Silver Palate's pecan pie, which I do every year). I know the homey, unfancy Smitten Kitchen's kale salad will appear - black kale with cranberries, pecans, radishes and goat cheese, fantastic and a...

There's rain in the forecast, so nice thick novels - the kind with plenty of plot and things to think about - are just the ticket. Tell us what you think of our staffers' choices, and let us know what you're reading. Sandra Sobieraj, Washington Correspondent Her Pick: The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach A novel in the John Irving and Pat Conroy styles - lushly painted, slightly quirky characters - that transports me back to my college days and also helps me understand a little more the plays in my son's Little League games! Nick Jollymore, Legal Counsel...

Who can forget the little old lady's quip after Meg Ryan's fake orgasm in "When Harry Met Sally"? "I'll have what she's having" was one hell of a reaction.
In the new issue of People, star Billy Crystal recalls another priceless reaction -- by Princess Diana at the movie's Royal Command opening in London.
"She was laughing so hard, just belching it out," he remembers. "She had the kind of laugh where if you were on a date, you'd never want to see her again."
Considering Princess Di is still considered one of history's most beautiful women, that's really saying something!
After the scene ended, Crystal adds that she "grabbed my hand and said, 'So naughty.'" Diana may have been a princess, but she wasn't a prude!
In People this wk: Still Foolin' Em author Billy Crystal's life in pix--including a surprising memory of Princess Di. pic.

Who says beach books are best? See which great autumn offerings our staffers are curling up with - and let us know what you're reading. Andy Abrahams, Editorial ManagerHis Pick: Nine Inches by Tom Perrotta In this smart, knowing collection, the Little Children author turns again to his favorite topic: the complicated lives behind suburbia's neatly-mowed facade. The title story, about two teachers (and former lovers) chaperoning a middle-school dance and realizing what they've lost, is especially strong. If you thought you knew your next-door neighbors, Perotta's keenly observed tales will make you think twice. Kim Hubbard, Books EditorHer Pick:...

Audiobooks are more popular than ever, and when they're read by actors as talented as these it's easy to see why. Let us know what you think about our staffers' selections - and tell us what you're reading. Julie Farin, Sr. Public Relations Mgr. Her Pick: Bossypantsby Tina Fey Listening to Tina Fey narrate her life - her teenage escapades at drama camp, her dating disasters, her SNL years and adventures on 30 Rock - is endlessly entertaining. This is one book that is probably funnier to listen to than to read. J.D. Heyman, Executive Editor His Pick: The House...

Our staffers have found three of the best kind of vacation books: they're engrossing and long enough to keep you mesmerized until the sun sets. Let us know what you think of our choices - and what you're reading. Tom Gliatto, TV Critic His Pick: The Plantagenets by Dan Jones Why would you pack a 534-page book of medieval British history in your beach tote? Because this account of the powerful line of kings from Henry II to Richard II is so commandingly readable - by my count, there are no more than four dull paragraphs in the whole thing.

As journalists we are, of necessity, all about what's happening Right Now. So it's nice to take a step back and lose ourselves in stories that have stood the test of time. Tell us what you think of our vintage choices - and let us know what you're reading. Caitlin Keating, News Assistant Her Pick: Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy I'm reading Anna Karenina right now for the fifth time. It's one of my all-time favorites. I am constantly quoting Tolstoy. "If you look for perfection, you will never be satisfied." If only more people understood how true that statement is,...

It looks like Suri Cruise has a bone to pick!
Channeling the voice of the mini fashionista, blogger turned author Allie Hagan steps into the 6-year-old’s shoes (er, stilettos!) in Suri’s Burn Book, Well-Dressed Commentary From Hollywood’s Little Sweetheart.
Filled with Suri’s thoughts on everything from her fellow pint-size peers’ style (or lack thereof) to the swirling rumors surrounding her own high-end lifestyle, the book doesn’t pull any punches.
“I knew if I wrote [this blog] in my own voice it would come across as unnecessarily mean or crazy,” Hagan tells People. “And then it...
