Vin Diesel’s most famous creation, the Fast & Furious franchise has been around since 2001. For over two decades, it has been steadily evolving (or devolving?) from street racing action movies to movies with international espionage, cars going to space, and people being revived every other second — and lost some of its original fans thanks to that. The F&f movies have long lost their original ground.
But according to star Tyrese Gibson, that finally changes with Fast 11!
Fast & Furious Goes Back to Its Roots
Believe it or not, despite the F&f movies having been only getting progressively bigger in terms of scale and events, Fast 11 isn’t about to continue with this trend. The finale of Vin Diesel’s iconic franchise will be more grounded than the previous installments, more down-to-earth — at least, that’s what Tyrese is saying.

Over 20 years ago, 2001’s The Fast and the Furious started one of the biggest and most ambitious action movie franchises of this century. Two and a half decades later, Vin Diesel is ready to roll out the grand finale of his proudest film series, concluding it with Fast 11 — or, rather, he would have been ready to do it if not for the jeopardy and setback the final movie has admittedly encountered.
Fast 11 Got Seriously Stalled, Tyrese Says
Despite the huge sensations like Barbie and Oppenheimer hitting the theaters in summer 2023, the previous year was rather for the movie industry, to say the least. Following closely after the Covid restrictions and budget cuts, the Hollywood strikes paralyzed most American studios, leading to big delays in all stages of production.

There’s something amazing about the streaming platforms’ global chart. You may think that you know how the algorithms work so you suspect the new shows of the most beloved genres, like true crimes or westerns, or even thrillers, will end up topping the charts. And they do!
Almost every new show or movie that has great marketing and has a great story and powerful cast make it to the top in no time. But what's strange is how the old and forgotten gems appear on the “most popular” list after being released so many years ago.
Recently, for example, an 18-year-old gangster drama Waist Deep landed on Netflix's global chart, reminding action fans how folks used to do it back then. The movie created by Vondie Curtis-Hall features Tyrese Gibson and Meagan Good. Despite the fact that it only received 76% on Rotten Tomatoes, we think it’s a...

Marvel’s Morbius has utterly disappointed its fans, while the film built immense hype when its trailers were dropped, promising a fresh take in the vampire genre, taking place in the superhero universe. However, when the film was released on the big screens, it became evident that the film was far from the lofty expectations set by the fans and the critics. The film is incohesive and fails to leave any lasting impact on its viewers.

When singer-songwriter SiR started growing his dreadlocks in 2010, he didn’t know the level of maintenance it would require. He was initially enthused by the Rastafarian concept of locs and their spiritual significance, finding meaning behind the now-popular hairdo. Although not as invested anymore, he realizes how his loc journey coincides with his personal development. There’s been plenty of breakage but also restoration.

Giovonnie Samuels, a child actor hired for three seasons of Nickelodeon’s All That in the early 2000s, dreamed of becoming a TV star. As she filmed her intro dance to TLC’s “All That” for the show’s title sequence, those aspirations became real. She lived out her dreams again as she interviewed Tony Hawk — who taught her how to kickflip — for Stacey Chit, a mock talk-show segment.

Taraji P. Henson showed off one of her tattoos as she took to the stage at the American Black Film Festival Honors on Sunday night.
“I got this tattoo a year ago, ‘The truth,’” she said, raising her left arm to the crowd, “because at the end of the day, that’s all we have, our truth. And if you are alive and God blessed you with another day to live, it is your time to tell the truth. Because by you telling the truth, you’re setting yourself free and somebody else free. But if you stay quiet, nothing changes.”
Henson was the female recipient of ABFF’s Excellence in the Arts Award, presented to her by longtime friend and Baby Boy co-star Tyrese. While on the promotional tour for The Color Purple at the end of last year, Henson spoke out about the pay disparity for Black actresses,...

In her new uInterview, Orange Is The New Black star Beth Dover shared how she used her comedy skills in her latest role as Molly Arden in Helen’s Dead.
The film focuses on a group of people who find a dead body at a dinner party, which her character attends to write an expose on.
“Basically, it’s sort of the aftermath of that,” Dover explained to uInterview founder Erik Meers. “So it’s like, what if a bunch of people went to a dinner party and found a dead body? But all of these people are slightly self-involved, maybe slightly unlikeable. And what happens when they find a dead body?”
Dover described the film as a “madcap adventure. It’s like sort of in the style of Clue, maybe.”
The actress shared that she was able to do some improv work with her castmates while on set, which was memorable for her.

Adam Deacon’s star-stuffed parody arrives on digital platforms next week ahead of a boxing day rental release.
The latest film from BAFTA-winner Adam Deacon will be available to download and keep on digital platforms from the 12th December, before becoming rent-able (presumably from those same ‘digital platforms’) from the 26th December.
We’ve not managed to catch this one yet, but the synopsis (and a stacked cast list) have our curiosity piqued. Here is that very same synopsis:
In this parody of the UK urban genre Riko and Kane have got it all … big dreams, no respect and a fifteen grand debt. Could things get any worse?
Yes! So, it’s time to man up and finally be taken seriously as “Roadmen”. Once putting their heads together on various ways to make some money, they decide to rob a megastar in a nightclub toilet and hold up the local bank,...

Actor Paul Walker felt a certain responsibility to stay in The Fast and the Furious franchise. One of his reasons for wanting to do the film was because of the backlash Vin Diesel received for leaving the series behind.

Not even Walker could’ve predicted that Fast and Furious would’ve become the mega-hit it is today. But the actor was a part of the franchise from its beginning, even before the film series had its famous title.
“I was working on The Skulls with basically the same team, Rob Cohen, Neal Moritz. Same studio, Universal,” Walker once told Access. “And Neal Moritz, the producer, approached me and he asked me, he said, ‘Paul, what would you like to do next?’ And I told him, I said,...

Always one to balk in the face of convention, RZA this fall will turn the orchestral concept of “chamber music” — small ensembles playing ornate works — into “chambers music”: a symphony orchestra interpreting Wu-Tang Clan’s blockbuster 1993 debut Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) live onstage. The performances will take place at New York City’s Gramercy Theatre on Nov. 7, 8, and 9 — the last date of which marks the album’s 30th anniversary. The gigs are billed with a mouthful of a title: “36 Chambers of Shaolin and a Ballet Through Mud.” On Instagram,...

When Universal Pictures released The Fast and the Furious in the summer of 2001, no one could have predicted that it would give birth to a franchise that’s grossed over $7 billion worldwide. It’s a juggernaut that’s still got plenty of fuel in the tank, with Fast X making over $700 million worldwide (and counting) while other franchises struggle to keep up.
Here, we look back at the franchise’s early days, when the Fast Saga was still considered low-key, perhaps even low-rent by some, with the movies modestly budgeted and aimed mainly at the youth market. We take a look at the breakout success of The Fast and the Furious, which made stars of its two leads, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, overnight. This led to Diesel bailing on the second film, 2 Fast 2 Furious, which saw Walker’s Brian head to Miami for an adventure that would...

Part of the fun of the Fast and Furious franchise is to see how far they can take the ridiculousness with their action sequences. We’ve been given a heist with two cars literally dragging a vault through a city, mid-air catches after getting launched from speeding cars, a sports car driving from skyscraper to skyscraper, as well as an army of zombie cars being controlled remotely. It became a running joke that they would eventually go into space. And then they did.

For months now, thanks to the steady drumbeat of both Universal’s ace marketing department and various members of the cast on social media, we have been informed that “Fast X,” the tenth movie in the franchise, is “the beginning of the end of the road.” And that an eleventh film, once again directed by French filmmaker Louis Leterrier (who joined the series after creative differences led to Justin Lin leaving “Fast X” mid-production), is soon on the horizon.
Everybody is back for “Fast X,” from series regulars like Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang to more recent additions like John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel and Jason Statham, to car-loving characters completely new to the franchise like Brie Larson, Alan Ritchson, Jason Momoa (stealing every scene he’s in), Daniela Melchior and, for some reason, Rita Moreno. As the "Fast & Furious" movies have accumulated over the years, they have undergone a strange evolution. Some might even call it a mutation. When it started out in 2001, "The Fast and the Furious" was a mere mid-budget "Point Break" knockoff set in the high-octane world of Los Angeles street racing. It was beautiful actors driving fast cars and a transparent excuse to film women in short shorts. By the fifth film in the series, "Fast Five," the franchise had unwittingly constructed an ensemble of superheroic characters and had brazenly left physics in the dust. No longer race movies or heist movies, the "Furious" series had come to occupy the overblown espionage genre. By "Fast Five," the features had more in common with the "Mission: Impossible" movies or James Bond than they did with their direct progenitors.
With "Fast X," the 11th film in the series, the franchise has only gotten bigger and bigger.

In November 2001, Ludacris was set to release his third album, “Word of Mouf.” At the same time, however, his debut on film, “The Wash,” was also about to hit theaters. Luda’s role in the DJ Pooh-directed comedy starring Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg was small. But “The Wash,” along with his goofball antics in several of his music videos, put Luda in front of major league filmmakers such as the late John Singleton and Paul Haggis. In back-to-back films, the rapper became a movie star as Tej Parker in 2003’s “2 Fast 2 Furious,” followed in 2004 by the Oscar-winning “Crash.” Some 30 more movies would follow.
“The theatricality of my videos, my image — it was a bit of transition, going into acting, playing myself playing the Ludacris persona,” says Luda, credited in film as Chris Bridges. “But ‘2 Fast 2 Furious’ was a great way to start, because the year after was when ‘Crash’ came along.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts director Steven Caple Jr. isn’t afraid to pick up the phone and ask for guidance. He did it on Creed II when he asked Ryan Coogler and Sylvester Stallone for insight into how best to make a movie in the world of Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) and Rocky Balboa. So, naturally, Caple took the same approach with the mastermind of Transformers live-action movies, Michael Bay.
