Jordan Peele apparently opted not to take up an offer to join the MCU, and it turns out it was X-Men that was put before him.
There was a story floating around earlier this week that claimed Jordan Peele had been in discussions with Marvel Studios about directing one of its upcoming projects. However, at that point we were missing the juiciest detail of all, that being the project in question.
Even though the offer was reportedly declined by Peele, the story led to plenty of speculation regarding which project the Get Out filmmaker had been offered, with Marvel’s troubled Blade being a popular choice, even though that production already has a director (or at least we think it does), Yann Demange.
A fresh story has now surfaced to corroborate the original story, claiming that Peele met with Marvel – although this story adds that “it was a long time...

Actor/ director and comedian Jordan Peele has been the mastermind behind some of the most talked about horror movies, including Get Out, Us, and of course, Nope. However, his recent cinematic journey as a producer has not been quite as promising as Dev Patel’s very own Monkey Man, despite the hype, was far from making a splash at the box office.

Certainly, Peele deserves a break, and his recent meeting with Marvel Executives might just change his fate. With the recent report, fans might wonder what project Peele would pick up. While most fans almost believed that he would direct Mahershala Ali’s Blade, we think he might just land on a different exciting project, given Yann Demange is set to direct Blade (if Marvel Studios is still sticking with him).

Attention: The Following Report Is A Rumor. Please Take The Following Story With A Grain Of Salt.
Ever since it was originally announced in 2019, the MCU’s interpretation of the half-human, half-vampire monster hunter Blade has been in production hell. The character, once made popular by the 1998 film, portrayed by Wesley Snipes, has since had a revolving door of creatives and multiple pushbacks in terms of getting the project off the ground.
Bassam Tariq was originally set to direct, with Stacy Amma Osei-Kuffour writing the script, but Tariq left in early 2022 following creative differences. Yann Demange took over directing duties, while Michael Starrbury was brought on to rewrite the script. Later, both Nic Pizzolatto and Michael Green did additional rewrites.
One of the biggest rumors regarding the troubled production is the continued issues with the script. At one point, the film was said to primarily focus on female characters, with...

The news broke last night that Mahershala Ali is in talks to star in Universal Pictures' upcoming Jurassic World reboot, seemingly leaving the status of Marvel Studios' long-planned Blade reboot up in the air.
Though we haven't had any official updates on the project, Jurassic World 4 is said to be gearing up for a mid-June shoot, which is also around the time Blade is (or was) expected to begin filming. So, it seems highly unlikely that Ali would be lining up this Jw role if he was still planning to play the Daywalker unless the MCU project has been hit with yet another delay - or has been cancelled altogether?

Over the years and over multiple film phases in the MCU, Kevin Feige and Marvel have ensured that they have kept the entertainment coming at a constant pace for their die-hard fans across the world. The franchise’s massive viewership is also a result of the plethora of huge superstars who have stepped on board to play some of the most popular superheroes.

One fandom's loss is another's gain, apparently. While Marvel Studios has been undergoing something of an identity crisis in recent years, capped by Disney's Bob Iger actually promising to slow down production of movies and shows during a shareholder call while Marvel's Brad Winderbaum recently copped to the shortcomings of the #ItsAllConnected approach, one of the bigger casualties has been the shaky status of the announced "Blade" movie. Starring the great Mahershala Ali as the eponymous vampire hunter, the film has undergone quite a bit of behind-the-scenes chaos, from directorial changes to significant amounts of creative overhaul -- to the extent, in fact, that the star reportedly came this close to parting ways with the studio altogether. Well, Marvel fans can consider this latest development as yet another troublesome sign. Dinosaur fans, meanwhile, have our permission to rejoice.

Hard as it may be to believe, it's been over four years since Marvel Studios first announced plans for a Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali during San Diego Comic-Con, and the project has been plagued by production woes ever since.
After going through a number of directors and writers, the project finally seemed to be back on track after a recent Production Weekly update claimed that shooting was set to commence this Fall, but it seems the movie has hit yet another bump in the road.
According to Daniel Richtman, a new writer is currently being sought to give the script another major overhaul - although he does note that Marvel has finally nailed down the overall story, and backs-up the earlier report that cameras are expected to roll later this year in Mexico or Brazil.

Phase Six is going to be a crucial one for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with half of the projects announced so far being reboots. But after The Fantastic Four serves as Marvel’s big summer blockbuster there will be Blade, with Mahershala Ali in the title role, taking over one of Wesley Snipes’ signature characters. But will Snipes step in for a cameo?

We've been hearing reports that original Blade star Wesley Snipes might be set to reprise the role for a few years at this stage, but when the news broke that Marvel Studios was developing a new movie with Mahershala Ali taking over as the Daywalker, Snipes donning the shades and swords again began to seem highly unlikely.
However, a recent rumor claimed that Snipes will return as Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point, and has "already signed to do some stuff" in the Multiverse.
Now, Snipes has shared a response via social media.

Marvel has a slew of upcoming projects slated for release in the coming years, many of which have been stalled due to the unprecedented SAG-AFTRA strike that halted the entire industry, resulting in numerous delays and cancellations.
One highly anticipated Marvel Studios project, ‘Blade,’ faced challenges long before the strikes began. It’s an MCU film centered around Eric Brooks, the iconic vampire hunter from comics, serving as a reboot of the beloved ‘Blade’ trilogy that played a pivotal role in shaping the MCU as we know it today.
The production of ‘Blade’ has encountered multiple rewrites and delays, stretching out the timeline considerably from its originally planned 2023 release. There are even reports suggesting that the main actor is reconsidering their role. With no official trailer in sight, Teaser Pro has released a concept trailer for the film, demonstrating that a straightforward formula of Blade battling vampires remains effective. You...

Marvel has plenty of projects bound to be released in the next few years, and we know that most of these projects have been stuck in a sort of limbo due to the historic SAG-AFTRA strike that paralyzed the whole industry as a whole, causing plenty of projects to be both delayed or altogether canceled.
One extremely anticipated Marvel Studios project that had problems way before the strikes began is ‘Blade.’ It is an McU-based movie following Eric Brooks, the most notable vampire hunter in comics, and a reboot of the already highly popular ‘Blade’ trilogy that contributed to paving the way for the MCU that we know today.
We know that ‘Blade’ production has faced numerous rewrites and delays, and for a movie that was supposed to be released back in 2023, it sure is taking a really long time, with even the main actor, according to some reports, reconsidering his role.

Marvel has a bunch of upcoming projects, and many of them got caught in the mess of the big industry strike. This strike caused delays or even cancellations for lots of projects.
One of the highly anticipated Marvel movies, ‘Blade,’ was already facing issues even before the strikes. It’s a reboot of the famous ‘Blade’ trilogy, focusing on Eric Brooks, a well-known vampire hunter from the comics.
‘Blade’ has faced a rocky production journey with numerous delays. The latest rumors suggest that the film will be postponed yet again, shifting its release date from November 7, 2025, to an unspecified date in 2026.

Mahershala Ali has been attached to the Blade reboot for what seems like almost an eternity now. The actor’s casting was received very well. Most importantly, he is not a new face to Marvel fans, since he played Cottonmouth in Luke Cage.

However, his turn as the Daywalker in the Marvel reboot is still up in the air, with the production yet to take off. In “Back to Black,” Jack O’Connell’s Blake Fielder-Civil comes into the life of Amy Winehouse — played by an exceptional Marisa Abela — with seductive bravado, sweeping the singer off her feet on their first meeting in a London pub thanks to, among other things, a lip-synced rendition of the Shangri-La’s “Leader of the Pack”.

Marvel’s Blade has been dulled yet again, as star Aaron Pierre has exited the project, marking just the most recent snag in the project, which is set to be part of Phase Six in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As Pierre confirmed to Variety, “Early on, there were conversations…As the project evolved, I’m no longer part of that — attached.” Pierre’s character in Marvel’s Blade was unknown.
There has been a lot of change throughout the development of Marvel’s revisiting of the Blade franchise, most of which relates to talent behind the camera. For starters, Watchmen’s Stacy Osei-Kuffour was hired as writer in 2021 before being replaced by Michael Starrbury (Colin in Black & White) and a handful of others, including True Detective’s Nic Pizzolatto and later Logan’s Michael Green. It’s widely believed that Aaron Pierre’s character would be dropped as subsequent drafts came in.

Marvel has several upcoming projects slated for release in the coming years. Many of these projects have been stuck in limbo due to the historic SAG-AFTRA strike, causing delays and cancellations throughout the industry. One highly anticipated project facing pre-strike issues is ‘Blade,’ an McU-based film featuring Eric Brooks, a renowned vampire hunter. This reboot of the popular ‘Blade’ trilogy, which played a significant role in shaping the MCU, has experienced setbacks.
While details about the ‘Blade’ movie are scarce, it’s known that Mahershala Ali initiated the project and will portray the titular character. Initially scheduled for a 2023 release, the movie’s debut has been pushed to 2025 due to Ali’s dissatisfaction with the script.
Director Yann Demange recently confirmed that the film will receive an R-rating, making it the second MCU movie to do so after ‘Deadpool 3.’ This rating is deemed necessary for the movie’s authenticity.

Fans have been excited beyond measure for Mahershala Ali’s portrayal of Blade in the new reboot for the MCU. While the character has already been adapted once with Wesley Snipes in the lead, this would be the first time that the character would be shown in the MCU and would appear along with other Marvel characters.
While Ali’s inclusion was announced way back in 2019, the film has been delayed numerous times. The actor only had a brief voice cameo in the post-credits scene of Eternals but has not made any other appearances since. It was rumored that the actor was not satisfied with the script and was threatening to exit the role after four years of no updates.

Four and a half years have passed since Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige announced that a new Blade was in the works, with Mahershala Ali (Leave the World Behind) on board to play the title character. It has been a bumpy ride for the project ever since. It has passed through the hands of multiple screenwriters – Stacy Osei-Kuffour (PEN15), Michael Starrbury (When They See Us), True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto, Beau DeMayo (The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf). It had a director in Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli). Tariq cast Delroy Lindo (Get Shorty) and Aaron Pierre (Old) alongside Ali – then he dropped out due to “scheduling issues”, and the character Pierre would have been playing was apparently written out of the story. Yann Demange (White Boy Rick) signed on to direct the film, Mia Goth (Pearl) was cast, possibly as the villain Lilith, and Blade was just weeks away from...

Until recently, the majority of MCU content was either PG-13 or TV-14 rated, ensuring a family-friendly appeal. However, this trend shifted with the announcement that the upcoming ‘Deadpool 3’ sequel would maintain its R rating, acknowledging the challenge of toning down the character’s signature gore and humor for a PG-13 audience.
The next R-rated project in line is ‘Echo,’ scheduled for release in January 2024. As the first under the Marvel Spotlight banner, the show focuses on character development, making prior MCU knowledge unnecessary. The showrunners have indicated that while ‘Echo’ explores family themes, it will also feature intense violence, evident from the trailers.
Following this, ‘Blade’ director Yann Demange confirmed that the upcoming reboot would also carry an R rating. Marvel appears to be venturing into new territory, potentially in response to the underperformance of movies and shows this year. There are reports that Marvel is contemplating giving the...

The majority of MCU was, at least until now, either PG-13 or TV-14 rated, meaning that most of the movies and shows produced were family-friendly. This started to change when it was announced that the upcoming ‘Deadpool 3’ sequel would keep its R rating, as it seems impossible to make a PG-13 Deadpool movie without a lot of gore and inappropriate humor.
The next project to be R-rated is ‘Echo,’ releasing in January 2024; the show will be the first to fall under the Marvel Spotlight banner, meaning that it’s going to be character-oriented, and previous knowledge of the MCU is not necessary to watch it. The showrunners also “warned” that Maya’s story won’t be the one of redemption, yes it will have family themes but it’s also going to be very violent, something that can be seen from the trailers as well.
Then, a few weeks after that,...

It’s safe to say that Marvel Studios’ Blade hasn’t had the easiest road, but things finally seem to be back on track. While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Mahershala Ali provided an encouraging Blade update.
“We’re working on it. That’s the best I could tell you,” Mahershala Ali said. “I’m really encouraged with the direction of the project. I think we’ll be back at it relatively soon.“
Since Blade was first announced back in 2019, the project has gone through several creative teams. Mahershala Ali recently told Entertainment Weekly that he is feeling optimistic about his upcoming Marvel movie “Blade,” in which he will star as the comic book vampire hunter. The film, which won’t begin production until next year, has had a dramatic development period, to say the least.
Marvel first announced the project at Comic-Con 2019. “Mogul Mowgli” director Bassam Tariq came on board to helm the project in July 2021 with Stacy Osei-Kuffour writing the script, but he exited the film just over a year later and with only two months to go before cameras were set to start rolling. By then, Marvel had already set a Nov. 3, 2023 release date for “Blade.” The release was delayed to September 2024 as a result. “Lovecraft Country” director Yann Demange was brought in. Rumors of overhauled scripts plagued development as the Hollywood strikes put a pause on prep. Marvel bumped the release again to Nov.

According to Demange, the upcoming movie will definitely be rated “R.”

‘Blade’: Director Yann Demange Confirms R-Rating & Is Excited To Unleash Mahershala Ali’s “Ferocity”
When it was announced that “Blade” would be getting remade and put in the MCU, fans were concerned about a number of things. Would it be largely connected to the various ‘Avengers’-level events or would it exist in its own horror-filled world? And would it be R-rated like the original Wesley Snipes-led films? Well, we’re not quite sure about that first question, but we finally have an answer for the second.

Marvel Studios’ ‘Blade’ has been both highly anticipated and notably problematic, making it a standout among recent projects we’ve covered. Rumors about the movie’s development initially surfaced in 2016, but it wasn’t until 2022 that production finally commenced, marking the beginning of the project’s challenges. Bassam Tariq, the original director, stepped down due to shifts in the film’s production schedule. Following Tariq’s departure, production came to a complete halt, leaving the movie in limbo, with a scheduled release date set for September 2024—an initial deadline that has since passed.
About a year ago, Yann Demange took the reins as the new director, with Michael Starrbury collaborating on a revised script. Mahershala Ali, the actor slated for the main titular role, held a genuine passion for the ‘Blade’ project. The announcement of another production shutdown, this time due to the Writers Guild of America Strike, wasn’t surprising,...

Marvel Studio’s ‘Blade’ has been one of the most anticipated and most troubling projects that we’ve covered in recent times. Rumors about the movie being developed resurfaced back in 2016, but it wasn’t until 2022 that the movie went into production, and this is where the trouble truly started. Bassam Tariq had stepped down as the director of the film due to shifts in the film’s production schedule.
Then, the production was shut down completely, and the movie remained in limbo as its release date was scheduled for September 2024, an initial release date that we’ve surpassed up at this point. Almost a year ago, Yann Demange took over the director duties with Michael Starrbury working on the new script.

The "Blade" reboot has been languishing in development hell for several years now but Marvel Studios isn't letting this one die. The film is still very much on the release calendar, and we now have word that the version of it that's moving forward is going to be R-rated. This news comes from director Yann Demange, who is currently helming the film, which has Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali ("Moonlight") set to star.
Demange recently spoke with Deadline about his new short film, "Dammi." During the conversation, the topic of "Blade" was broached. While the filmmaker obviously can't say much at this stage, he did reveal a pretty important tidbit saying that, "They gave me the R, which is so important." So there we have it! It appears as though Disney won't be forcing them to pull any punches. As long as everything stands as it's currently planned, the new film will be R-rated,...

There’s a Blade reboot in the works at Marvel Studios that will see the vampire hunter get worked into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there has been some concern that this version of Blade will be watered down in comparison to the R-rated Blade films we got from New Line Cinema a couple decades ago. But during a conversation with Deadline, director Yann Demange assured fans that we don’t have to worry about seeing a PG-13 Blade movie. Like the upcoming MCU film Deadpool 3, the Blade reboot is going to be rated R!
Mahershala Ali is taking on the title role in this reboot, and when Blade came up in his Deadline interview Demange said, “They gave me the R, which is so important. … We are going to have fun, because Mahershala is such a deep actor. I’m excited to show a kind of ruthlessness, a roughness he has,...
