In the previous episode of La Brea season 3, Gavin met his half-sister, Helena, who was also after the microchip to destroy Maya’s time-traveling experiment, so she teamed up with Gavin and his team in 10,000 BC, where they found a double aurora appearing in front of them. One of the auroras would transport them to 2021, and the other one was for 1965. Helena told Gavin to travel back to 1965 to destroy the military base where the time-traveling experiment took place. In 1965, Gavin might find his wife Eve and his son Josh as well. In the season finale of La Brea, the one and only question is whether Gavin will be able to find Eve. Let’s discuss this final episode of this season to find the answer.

Families always stick together, which Helena proved when she protected Gavin and his family.
You’re not alone if you’re still shocked by La Brea Season 3 Episode 6 events, like those ingenious plans, deaths, or joyous reunions.
After three seasons, La Brea ended on an emotional and somewhat predictable finale after having high-stakes the rest of the season.
TV Fanatic enjoyed chatting with showrunner David Appelbaum to break down the finale and discuss some of the season’s twists, including Natalie Zea’s limited screen time and Izzy and Leya’s relationship.
Check out the interview below.
So, this was a very action-packed season. Thank you. Let’s talk about how Natalie Zea only appeared in the series finale. Was that planned that way?

In the fourth episode of La Brea season 3, we learned the truth about Maya Schmidt, who was the one who captured Eve and was responsible for Gavin’s memory loss. Maya wanted Gavin to give her the microchip, but Scott managed to find out who she really was. As Scott became a problem, Maya’s men took him captive in a prison, where he met with Levi. In this penultimate episode of La Brea season 3, let’s see if Gavin can recognize Maya’s true intentions and rescue his team from her.
Spoilers Ahead
Who Saved Gavin From Maya?
Episode 5 opened with Gavin contemplating what to do with the microchip while Ty was wondering who could be the person sending them those messages. Ty was also worried about Paara, who wasn’t yet back from her trip, and he thought she must have been lost in a different timeline. Both...

This should have been titled "Traitors and Suspects."
While Gavin strived to locate Eve, most of La Brea Season 3 Episode 5 focused on discovering who betrayed him. Every time we were sure we figured out who the culprit was, another suspect popped up.
However, we were shocked by the second traitor. They weren't even on our radar.
We're nearing the end of La Brea, and I still have more questions than answers. It's been such a fast-paced season that could have used a few more episodes to flesh out some character arcs.
It was evident that Maya was the ringleader after Scott's confrontation with her on La Brea Season 3 Episode 4, but her motives were still unclear. Was she just over-ambitious and wanted to control time machines? Would she really risk her daughter's safety to get it?
Gavin: Maya, what are you doing?
Maya: I’m taking back what’s mine.

All right, La Brea viewers…we have now arrived at season three episode five – otherwise known as the series’ penultimate episode. The two-part season/series finale begins with Gavin (Eoin Macken) pondering what to do with the microchip while visiting what will be, in 10,000 years, Eve’s favorite spot. Ty (Chiké Okonkwo) reminds him they need to trade it for Eve, but they admit to being worried about whoever is sending them the messages on the laptop.
Ty’s also worried that something happened to Paara since she’s overdue on returning from her trip. Both men pledge not to stop trying until they get their families back.
Izzy (Zyra Gorecki) confesses to Veronica (Lily Santiago) that she’s worried about her relationship with Leyla after turning down an offer to go stargazing. Fortunately, that conversation is cut...

Body swaps are usually bad news in movies. I was a real estate agent close to a big deal, now I have to find a date for junior prom? Then, a wacky journey back to status quo — because the way things were is how they should be.
Or not, forwards “Skin Deep,” the intimate and slippery debut feature from German Kazakhstani director Alex Schaad. Adopting a high concept usually fit for farce, Alex Schaad and his brother, co-writer and actor Dimitrij Schaad, take on the body swap premise in search of more, destabilizing their characters’ notions of gender and bodily autonomy along the way.
Releasing stateside in New York and Los Angeles theaters this month, “Skin Deep” debuted at the Venice Film Festival in 2022. The premiere was already a dream come true for the brothers; then they won the Queer Lion, a prize voted for by a jury of critics...

The saying goes that in order to understand someone, you have to walk a mile in their shoes, but Alex Schaad’s broad yet entrancing “Skin Deep” offers an alternate method: In order to understand someone, try swapping bodies with them for a few days. That solution might be less efficient, but it’s far more complete. Indeed, the mysterious white tower at the center of the Esalen-like island retreat where this lightly supernatural German drama takes place is nothing if not a machine that creates empathy. It creates other feelings too, but the people who seem most receptive to and transformed by the experience tend to think of empathy as the ultimate goal, if only because they’ve exhausted all other means of achieving it.
These people aren’t sociopaths, they’re just in long-term relationships. They’ve arrived at that sad — but inevitable? — point where the soft intimacy...

In the current state of cinema, tired tropes and clichés are becoming new fodder for repurposing and story transformation, as can be seen in the feature film debut by Kazakh-born, German-based newcomer Alex Schaad and Skin Deep (orig. Aus meiner Haut), which he co-penned with his brother Dmitrij Schaad. The Schaad siblings open their film with a naturalistic-shot boat drip depicting a couple who appear to be traveling on a honeymoon vacation. The lovebirds, as it soon transpires, are not a married couple and neither are they on a journey to a week of carnal gratification. Leyla and Tristan are traveling to a remote island at the invitation of Leyla's childhood friend Stella. Upon their arrival, Tristan finds out that Stella has the body of a...

Alex Schaad’s Skin Deep is a film with a body-swapping premise that’s notable for its restraint. Though as fresh and conceptually far-reaching as a David Cronenberg film, it traffics in body ambivalence more than body horror, striking an eerie, wistful tone.
The story hinges on the interplay of various couples. The central of these, Leyla (Mala Emde) and Tristan (Jonas Dassler), travel by ferry to a remote and idyllic island where seasonal body-switching rituals take place. There they join Leyla’s friend Stella (Edgar Selge) in the initially jarring form of her elderly father, who recently died while inhabiting Stella’s aneurism-prone body. Leyla’s been suffering from chronic depression, so she and Tristan have decided to give the ritual a try, in the hope that a temporary shift in embodied perspective might help. They’re paired by lottery with another couple: Fabienne (Maryam Zaree) will swap with Leyla,...

Facing your inner demons can set you free.
Gavin, Ty, Izzy, and Leyla faced their pasts on La Brea Season 3 Episode 3 and either started new journeys or got closure to move on.
Were these journeys beneficial, or did some of them alter history? Will we see the effects of these decisions before the series ends?
The Gavin of 2021 had just as much difficulty believing Ty as Sam did, but the stakes were higher because they needed Gavin to access info on the Air Force base. He didn't remember anything about the secret project in either timeline.
I can’t explain the gaps in your memory, and I understand why this is frightening, but if you explore this with us, it will be worth it. The lives of the people you love depend on this.

NBC’s La Brea season three episode three opens in 2021 with Sam (Jon Seda) and Ty (Chike Okonkwo) having just laid out their strange and twisty tale of sinkholes, dinosaurs, and 10,000 BC. Gavin (Eoin Macken) isn’t really shocked about Ty’s bizarre time-traveling story, but he is surprised they think he can contribute to helping stop what’s going to go down in just a few weeks.
Ty believes that Gavin’s prior work with quantum physics at Ladera Air Base is connected to the sinkholes. Unfortunately, Gavin can’t get them into the base and knows zilch about a secret project because of huge gaps in his memory. Ty pleads with him to help anyway. Lives are at stake!

Was anyone clamoring for new characters in La Brea's final season when we only have six episodes to wrap up existing storylines for an already massive cast?
I wasn't, but in La Brea Season 3 Episode 2, we added two more characters, Ruth and Leyla. Ruth is the new leader since Paara (Tonantzin Carmelo) is no longer a series regular.
Leyla, her daughter, longed to be a fierce warrior and butted heads with Izzy, who also only wanted to be understood.
Tensions were high at the Fort since the Clearing survivors moved in, and things got worse when a murder occurred. Joseph, Paara's righthand man, was the only one who trusted them, and Ruth was the most suspicious, making Lucas fear for their home.
The two tribes were divided, and Sam only worsened things when he tried to escape, wanting to get to Riley. Sam was the ultimate Papa Bear and...

NBC’s La Brea season three episode one threw in more dinosaurs, confirmed Veronica is pregnant, introduced a new pivotal player, saw the abduction of Levi and Petra, and ended with the disappearance of Ty, Riley, and Josh through two different auroras. Wow, that was a lot to absorb! Episode two of the final season picks up with Ty (Chiké Okonkwo) in LA just weeks prior to the appearance of the sinkhole, waxing philosophical about a trip he never intended to take.

There are good actors with bad scripts and then there are horrible actors with even worse scripts. More than half of the cast in Aaron Strey’s atrocious ‘horror’ movie The Wraith Within fall in the latter section. The only actor who seems moderately capable of delivering the horrendously bad lines is “Species” veteran Michael Madsen, although it seems the better days of his career are ancient history. Overweight and sickly, Madsen tries his best on a minuscule budget, and terrible direction, while his cast members try outperforming each other in who can be the worse actor in this Dollar Tree Evil Dead flick. This is one such movie that we can’t even recommend for a C-list marathon with your friends, and this is one dumpster fire you should avoid. Go through the breakdown of this sordid excuse for a horror film and decide why The Wraith Within is best skipped.

When Misty Copeland filmed the last scenes of the short Flower, she was, in her words, “very pregnant.” Not only was she blooming into motherhood, she was entering a new beginning as a producer and actor.
Flower is the first project from Copeland’s Life in Motion Productions, which she co-founded with fellow American Ballet Theatre dancer-turned-producer Leyla Fayyaz. Directed by Lauren Finerman and written by Fayyaz, the 28-minute short made its debut at the Tribeca Festival earlier this month, and it will be screened July 1 at the Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park as part of its Summer in the City series.
The film follows Rose (Copeland) as she carries the weight of providing a home, caring for her dementia-suffering mother and teaching young ballerinas in her Oakland community, which is gentrifying at an alarming rate.
