Lili Murciano (full name: Lili Virág Szuhay-Murciano) is a full-time actress, director, and writer. Although she was born in Budapest, Hungary, she also resides in Venice (Italy), where she earned her BA in Political Science (with Merit) and MFA in Filmmaking. At present, she attends Centro Teatrale di Ricerca's "Acting" classes taught by Savino Liuzzi. With a background in drama and theater, Lili displays experience in both the fields of writing/directing (she has written and directed over four short films and one feature) and acting (in theatrical productions, short films, and a feature).
Lili's true start in practical filmmaking with adequate equipment was with her short film "Il Lilo" (2021), filmed in the VIU Summer School in Fine Arts and Filmmaking. The story follows two girls who happen to cross paths in Venice; sparks fly, and a spontaneous adventure unfolds. She was assigned the title of cinematographer, musician, and composer.
The film went on to win a variety of awards and nominations, and was selected in others:
This was not all. Her next film was quick to come: "Hands" (2021), filmed alongside her film partner Timothy Finley Jacobi. This was her first experimental film, and her first film as director. The crux of the project was to test the ability to tell a story by only including the two character's hands in the frame and completely omitting dialogue. It had great success:
Presently, she is in the post-production process of her and Timothy Finley Jacobi's newest project, "Dinner is Ready", a fictional comedy about a dinner party gone wrong. Her latest completed short is "Masking: an Extensive Tutorial on How to Make Friends" (2022), which narrates the difficulties faced by neurodivergent youth with regards to reading social cues and 'masking' their stims, etc. It received an Honourable Mention at the Student World International Film Festival and was selected in Lift-Off Filmmaker Sessions at Pinewood Studios and Mental Filmness Film Festival.
Her first feature film, "PAGES" is currently in the last stages of post-production, while her upcoming project titled "Venezia, Donne...Uccisione!" is under production.
