Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s entry into the MCU was one of those iconic moments in superhero cinema, that Sony badly wants to recreate. If it were up to them, the Tom Rothman-led studio would have reunited the three heroes once again in the hopes of making another $2 billion phenomenon. Marvel’s constant objection to this plan may have forced Sony to consider another option for Maguire and Garfield.

Andrew Garfield is one of the best film stars of this generation, who has always captivated his audience. Throughout his career, his work has been recognized and praised, as he consistently and dedicatedly displayed his passion for acting by taking on different roles in various genres of films. He first caught the attention of the public when he did a phenomenal job in David Fincher’s The Social Network.

Though Garfield has a ton of successful films in his stellar career, he is arguably best known for his portrayal of Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man duology. Director Jon Watts stepped up to direct the three solo Tom Holland Spider-Man films that were wildly successful at the box office. The Home-trilogy was a perfect three-part story for Holland’s Spider-Man as he evolved from a young bubbly teenager to learning his responsibilities and dealing with a profound loss.
Jon Watts’ Home-trilogy ended on a high note with 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home
Watts delivered a much bigger and character-driven film with the trilogy than previous Spider-Man films. However, most fans did not find a distinctive visual style and flair that the Sam Raimi and Marc Webb’s films had. While many agree that Watts did a great job with his trilogy, the change of director for the 4th installment is a welcome change for some.

If you're an Amazing Spider-Man reader, then you'll know that Ned Leeds and Hobgoblin have a complicated history. While Roderick Kingsley is the true villain behind the villain's mask, Ned was once brainwashed into suiting up and has caused a lot of problems for Spidey over the years.
Now the McU's Ned no longer remembers Peter Parker, it's possible Marvel Studios could find a way to make it so that their version of the character also suits up as Hobgoblin.
Concept art has confirmed the idea was very briefly considered for Spider-Man: No Way Home, but how does Jacob Batalon feel about it?
"Honestly, I'm not sure," he admitted in an interview with Cbr. "Again, we may have talked about things, for sure, but I don't know if it would've really led to anything serious about being a villain, or anything like that."
The odds of this happening seem slim,...

When we think of the iconic portrayal of Dr. Otto Octavius / Doctor Octopus in Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 2 (2004), one name instantly springs to mind: Alfred Molina. The latter’s performance as the villainous Doc Ock is widely considered to be among the finest performances of the entire Spider-Man film franchise.
But what if we told you that the London-born actor, 70, might not have even been a part of the film without the crucial role of Raimi’s wife, Gillian Greene? Can you think of anyone else who could portray the multifaceted villain with such finesse?

While Molina is a seasoned and talented actor with an impressive résumé, it was Greene’s keen eye behind the scenes that ultimately led to Molina’s casting as Otto Octavius.

If there’s one hero comic book writers love to torment the most, it has to be the friendly neighborhood superhero Spider-Man. There’s barely anyone else who is down on their luck more often than the web-crawler, and still, he manages to smile and keeps going on.
However, there are times when even the most hopeful of Marvel heroes can get crushed to the point where he loses his mind, and that is one of the possibilities that can be adapted by Sam Raimi, if he ever returns for Spider-Man 4.

Especially after the multiverse saga, the possibility of adapting an alternate universe story from some of the darker versions of Spider-Man is very real. And given Raimi’s expertise in dealing with horror and dystopia, it can turn out to be really good!

It’s been two and a half years since the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the movie continues to be one of the most successful films of all time. The film is currently the third highest-grossing movie of all time with a domestic total of $814 million and it’s safe to say that the lead actors took home a lot of money for the film!
The movie originally earned $804 million during its initial theatrical run and then grossed another $10 million during its re-release in September 2022.
We did a little research and found out how much money Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire reportedly earned for their work in each of their movies.
Tobey played Spider-Man in the first three movies, Andrew played the role in two films, and Tom has now appeared in three standalone Spider-Man movies, in addition to several MCU films.

There were tons of cool scenes that were not included in the theatrical versions of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies, with J.K. Simmons wearing a Spider-Man suit probably the most notable of all the deleted ones. However, the director decided to include this in the extended cut of Spider-Man 2 (2004) so it’s not completely wasted.

When it comes to the character of Spider-Man, we’ve seen it all from Sam Raimi’s iconic trilogy, the MCU’s more tech-heavy and modern trilogy, some stunning animated Miles Morales films, and even a catalogue of disappointing spin-offs which follow villains like Venom and Morbius. Even Madame Web delivered yet another mediocre spin-off film in Sony’s ongoing attempt to give us Spider-Man movies that don’t feature Spider-Man. But tucked away in the depths of the Spider-Verse is Marc Webb’s 2012 reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man. A film that was released just 5 years after Raimi’s disappointing third installment of the Tobey Maguire era and was marketed to be the untold story of Peter Parker and capture the darker elements of the character and his origins. This, of course is hot off the success of Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins and Dark Knight films which had added a...

There is a lot that can be and has been said about the dance scenes in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3. Little of it has been positive in the 17(!) years since the movie’s release. Undeniably leaning into the director’s goofier comic sensibility, the film twice detours from its dour tone—which begins when Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) dons the bad juju vibes of an alien symbiote—in order to have a laugh-out-loud dance break. In one sequence near the end of the second act, and after Peter has permanently scarred and attempted to kill his Bff (James Franco), Maguire’s protagonist struts down the streets of New York City to James Brown. The strut then becomes a full on disco-like routine after he upgrades to an all-black suit.
Several minutes later, Spider-Man 3 further ups the camp factor by seeing symbiote-influenced Peter attempt to make Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst...

Kirsten Dunst would’ve liked to have been part of Spider-Man: No Way Home had she been asked to reprise her role of Mary Jane Watson.
In a new interview, Dunst revealed she would have agreed to have been part of the MCU that saw Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprise their Pater Parker roles alongside current Spider-Man Tom Holland.
“No, no. I would have,” Dunst told British GQ after they asked if anyone had reached out to reprise her role.
Although Dunst says she has not seen the 2021 film directed by Jon Watts, she says it would’ve been interesting to see her Mary Jane and Maguire’s Peter Parker reuniting.
“It would be funny to be like, Ok, let’s take Tobey [Maguire] and I and do it in a weird indie way where it’s like a different kind of superhero film,” she said. “Like how they did that movie Chronicle.

Upon the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the film was met with opposing reviews. While some fans weren’t impressed, many others were totally blown away by how the story unfolded. Filmmaker Sam Raimi’s added touch of the horror genre was also applauded by many. However, not everyone was a fan of what he did, particularly with Wanda Maximoff.

Sam Raimi, the legendary brains behind the original Spider-Man film series from the 2000s, is hoping yet again to return to work with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This comes after a statement from the mastermind himself addressing the rumors of him being the top choice to helm the upcoming highly anticipated MCU movie, Avengers: Secret Wars.

But while he has expressed his fondness of working with the multi-billionaire franchise and shared his hope of becoming part of a major project like Avengers 6, one of his past films comes into focus, i.e. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Which, inevitably, isn’t the finest one in his collection, and may prove to be a barrier to his dream coming true.

Whether you prefer Mary Jane or Gwen Stacy, Kirsten Dunst’s performance as Mary Jane in Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy is widely respected. It’s her most successful movie financially so far.
Even though she’s taken on different roles in different kinds of movies since then, fans mostly link her to Peter Parker’s main love interest. That’s why people naturally wondered why she wasn’t in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
In a recent interview with GQ, Dunst confessed that she would have been open to making an appearance, but she never got the call. She also mentioned she hadn’t seen the movie, so she couldn’t say how her involvement would have played out.

Kirsten Dunst was too honest when she admitted that money was part of the reason why she appeared in Spider-Man in 2002. While she claimed money was the reason actors mostly took up superhero projects, she also believed Sam Raimi’s movie was very different from modern superhero films. She felt that Raimi’s movies were indie films disguised as superhero films, which is what she would want if another Spider-Man movie were made.

Rumors are going around that Tobey Maguire could be suiting back up in red and blue for another Spider-Man movie with director Sam Raimi!

From 2002 to 2007, director Sam Raimi helmed three Spider-Man movies for Sony. The films starred Tobey Maguire as the title hero, and they were all massive hits, pushing open the door for a superhero renaissance that dominated the 2010s. The series ended when "Spider-Man 3," despite making nearly $900 million at the worldwide box office, wasn't as big a hit as the studio wanted. The budget for that film was also wildly high, costing as much as $350 million to make, and fans weren't as excited by the sloppy storytelling and strange Venom storyline.
Rather than push ahead with "Spider-Man 4," Sony elected to wait five years and reboot the continuity with "The Amazing Spider-Man" in 2012. That continuity was short-lived, ending in 2014 with the release of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." Fan goodwill was at an all-time low. From there, a tertiary Spider-Man appeared in the now-flourishing Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While the MCU may now be satisfying the hunger of comic book fans with every major superhero and supervillain making an appearance in the MCU, there’s a certain charm to the films in Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy which makes them unforgettable.
Even after the untimely conclusion of the original series more than a decade and a half ago, fans still fondly remember the iconic moments that those films left for the industry.
Tobey Maguire in and as Spider-Man
Although the trilogy is revered as one of the best, the last film is pretty controversial since it led to the downfall of the franchise. And now, according to one of the stars from the originals, the next installment was aiming to do the same thing by introducing multiple new villains like The Lizard and The Vulture all at once, which had proven fatal for it before.

Sam Raimi had big success with the ‘Spider-Man’ movies, each earning over $800 million worldwide. But plans for more films fell apart due to script problems. Raimi was disappointed, especially with ‘Spider-Man 3,’ and wanted to make up for it with ‘Spider-Man 4,’ but it never happened. In 2022, he wished he had ended the series on a better note.
However, Raimi stayed connected to Spider-Man. He and Marc Webb advised on Marvel Studios’ ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ Recently, rumors suggested Raimi might direct a sequel to ‘Spider-Man 3’ with Tobey Maguire. In a recent interview with Cbr, Raimi talked about those rumors.

Sam Raimi achieved major success with the ‘Spider-Man’ film trilogy. The franchise grossed over $800 million worldwide with each installment. However, plans for further sequels fell through due to script issues. Raimi was however disappointed with ‘Spider-Man 3 and aimed to redeem himself with ‘Spider-Man 4,’ which unfortunately never materialized. In 2022, he talked about wishing that he ended the franchise on a high note instead of leaving it with the least successful installment in the series.
This wasn’t the end of Raimi and Spider-Man however. Raimi and Marc Webb later served as creative consultants for Marvel Studios’ ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home, ‘directed by Jon Watts, and in recent times, rumors started spreading that Raimi would direct a sequel to the 2007 ‘Spider-Man 3’ staring Tobey Maguire. Could the long-awaited Spider-Man 4 finally be in the works? Fans of Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire have been waiting on that chestnut for seventeen years. Now, the master of the Evil Dead is addressing the rumors!
Comicbook.com is reporting that the director hasn’t been approached officially for a new Spider-Man “yet,” but Raimi is already connected to the MCU, so that may have gotten the ball rolling:
“I haven’t talked to Tobey about it, but maybe Marvel has, or Columbia Pictures. But I just worked with Marvel on a movie called Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. So, I’m on great terms with them. I’m sure I would hear about it if it was in the works. I think so. I don’t know.“
While speaking with Comicbook.com, Curt Connors himself, Dylan Baker, commented on the missed opportunity to introduce the Lizard in the unproduced Spider-Man 4.

Rumors always seem to be swirling on social media that Sam Raimi is going to reunite with Tobey Maguire and direct a fourth “Spider-Man” movie. The duo jump-started a blockbuster age for comic book movies with 2002’s “Spider-Man” and delivered the genre one of its most acclaimed entries with 2004’s “Spider-Man 2.” Although 2007’s “Spider-Man 3” wasn’t a hit with critics, it still pulled in $895 million worldwide to become Raimi and Maguire’s biggest entry.
There was a time when Raimi was developing a “Spider-Man 4” at Sony, with Tobey Maguire back in the title role. The project was ultimately scrapped in favor of rebooting the web-slinger on the big screen with Andrew Garfield. Ever since Maguire returned to his Spider-Man role in 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” comic book movie fans have been clamoring for a proper “Spider-Man 4” from Raimi and his star.

When we think of the greatest kisses in movie history, there are some genuine classics that come to mind: Lady and the Tramp smooching via spaghetti, Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr embracing on the beach in From Here to Eternity, Michael Corleone sealing brother Fredo’s fate in The Godfather Part II…And up there with all of these is the upside down kiss from 2002’s Spider-Man, in which Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane peels up her hero’s mask and plants one in a New York downpour. And as immediately iconic as it was, the scene was something of a pain to shoot.
As Dunst recalled of the famous Spider-Man scene, “I remember Sam Raimi giving me a book of famous kisses to be inspired but also he really wanted to make it special even though it was kind of miserable actually doing it…It was pouring with rain,...

In Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire performed one of filmdom’s most memorable kisses. While Maguire’s Spider-Man is hanging upside down, Mary Jane removes his mask halfway to give him a “thank you” kiss in the pouring rain.
But Dunst now reveals that the moment was anything but romantic, at least for her. Speaking on ITV1’s The Jonathan Ross Show, she recalled the moment.
“I remember [the film’s director] Sam Raimi giving me a book of famous kisses to be inspired, but also he really wanted to make it special, even though it was kind of miserable actually doing it. Kirsten Dunst may have been one-half of the most iconic onscreen kisses in cinematic history, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a “miserable” experience for the actress.
Dunst starred as Mary-Jane Watson in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” trilogy from 2002 to 2007. The first film featured Mary-Jane kissing Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire) without realizing he was her high school classmate Peter Parker. As Spider-Man hangs upside down after saving Mary-Jane, she kisses him in the rain.

I know kids these days love the Tom Holland/Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Spider-Man, but for my money, the best big-screen take on the web-slinger remains the one from Sam Raimi's trilogy. Say what you will about Raimi's films, but those movies have style. Raimi is a great director of movement, and he really knows how to pull off fun, vibrant, comic-book-infused action scenes. His "Spider-Man" movies are big, bold, sweeping action-adventures that still hold up to this day — especially "Spider-Man 2," which might just be the best superhero movie ever made.
One of the most memorable scenes from Raimi's first "Spider-Man" film involves a moment when Spider-Man/Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) is hanging upside down in a rainy alley and shares a kiss with the girl of his dreams, Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst). Whether you’re on Team Mary Jane or Team Gwen Stacy, you gotta admit Kirsten Dunst nailed her role as Mary Jane. She played her in Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy, which is still her biggest moneymaker.
Remember that upside-down kiss scene in the 2002 ‘Spider-Man’? Iconic, right? Well, Dunst doesn’t see it as super romantic as you might.
On a recent episode of the Jonathan Ross Show, Dunst talked about filming that scene and emphasized how rough it was for her.

The famous upside-down kiss between Spider-Man and Mary Jane has endured for years, and fans still can’t get over it. The scene in which Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane Watson kisses Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker while he hangs upside down is unforgettable and romantic at the same time. What many fans may not realize is that filming that iconic scene wasn’t quite as idyllic as it appeared on screen.
No matter how many Spider-Man flicks have come and gone, the scene has never attempted to be replicated. Dunst played Peter’s love interest in all three of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy films, which were released between 2002 and 2007.

Known for his bold storytelling and unwavering vision, Martin Scorsese is a prominent figure of the New Hollywood era who has never been afraid to voice his opinions. The Grammy Award-winning filmmaker, 81, has expressed reservations about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), raising concerns about the eligibility of films that are based on comic book characters.

It was a statement that both industry insiders and a significant portion of Marvel fans took offense to. However, when Scorsese speaks, listeners should usually take note of what this exceptionally intelligent man has to say.

Jake Gyllenhaal Once Admitted Putting A Lot Of Pressure On Himself While Filming Spider-Man: Far From Home (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Road House star Jake Gyllenhaal, born in the Gyllenhaal family, has lived up to the family’s legacy. But there were times when he got overwhelmed while filming, and something similar happened during Marvel’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. He appeared in the role of Mysterio and heavily impacted the life of Tom Holland’s character, Peter Parker. The Oscar-nominated actor is known for going the extra mile for his roles.
He lost around 30 pounds for his role in Nightcrawler. However, after that, he decided not to get engrossed in a role further, and the primary reason for it might be his Oscar snub. He was not nominated for the Academy Awards for that part. On the personal front, Jake is the son of director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner.
