It’s Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary month, which calls for two things: celebration, and admin. Fittingly, here’s an administrative celebration of the BBC show, featuring every season/series that’s aired so far. After a six-tab Excel file and a lot of overthinking, it’s a big ol’ list arranging each of Doctor Who’s individual runs in reverse order of excellence.
(A note on methodology: this list does not include runs of Doctor Who specials or the TV movie, and Christmas specials are included under the entries for their relevant series.)
There’s good stuff everywhere in Doctor Who. Sometimes it can take a bit of digging to find it, but much of the time, you hardly even have to look – it’s just there, posing as the Commissioner from Sirius 4, or asking “Do I have the right?”. What follows is an attempt to arrange each season...

Children in Need’s history of Doctor Who specials dates back to a time before Pudsey Bear even existed. Feature-length special ‘The Five Doctors’ was first aired in the UK during the 1983 Children in Need telethon, a full two years before Pudsey became the charity’s official mascot.
Doctor Who has a rich tradition of supporting BBC charities – including a 1999 Comic Relief special penned by none other than Steven Moffat – and there have been six further Doctor Who specials for Children in Need in the three decades since ‘The Five Doctors’.
They range from the sublime – aka ‘Time Crash’ in 2007…
…to the ridiculous. And we mean really, brilliantly ridiculous:
Some Doctor Who fans never really got over the 1993 ‘Dimensions in Time’ special, a set of two mini episodes which aired on consecutive nights, the first on Children in Need and the second on the 1990s Saturday night fever dream known as Noel’s House Party.

Martha Jones is perhaps one of the most underrated but highly important companions in the Doctor Who television series. Still, her character managed to gain the audience’s favor over time, and in this article, we’ll discuss who Martha Jones was and how she evolved in the Doctor Who television series.
Who Is Martha Jones
Martha Jones, portrayed by Freema Agyeman, was studying for her doctorate in medicine when she was transported to the Moon. Since she had shown great bravery in the face of the Plasmavore and the Judoon invaders, David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor invited her to join the Tardis and accompany him on numerous adventures.
“Doctor Who” Recap: The 11 Best Moments from Matt Smith’s Final Episode
And though the fandom regarded her as a meek replacement for Billie Piper’s Rose Tyler, Matha Jones proved that she was much more. Her strength, bravery, resourcefulness, and...

Sarah Jane Smith, played by the late, great Elisabeth Sladen, was the most important companion in Doctor Who’s history. She played the companion character alongside Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker’s Doctors from 1973 to 1976 and was so successful in the part that she single-handedly made a case for equal billing for the companion character 30 years before it actually happened in the 2005 season.
Looking back, she had such a profound impact on the show and became such a popular character that there was virtually a rejection of other characters in favor of Sarah, leading to the creation of her own spin-off series. But who was Sarah Jane Smith, and how has she evolved in Doctor Who?

So “Legend of the Sea Devils” was a serviceable, fairly by-the-numbers, classic-monster-meets-celebrity historical story that didn’t hit any truly spectacular highs or lows, but which will surely be hotly debated in the comments anyway.
The biggest reveal of the episode was in the 30-second clip before the end credits. Yes, the next episode will show us the Thirteenth Doctor regenerate into the Fourteenth, we know. And in this story she’ll be facing the Master, the Daleks, and the Cybermen which, of course she is. Who doesn’t want to bring all the big stops out for the final bash?
We expected all of these reveals…except the one that truly blew us away: the Thirteenth Doctor’s final story will feature the return of Classic Who companions Ace and Tegan Jovanka, once again played by Sophie Aldred and Janet Fielding, respectively. It is the biggest special guest appearance...
