Robbie Amell, star of “Upload,” “Code 8” and “The Babysitter: Killer Queen,” is set to produce and star in “Float,” a movie based on Kate Marchant’s popular Wattpad teen-romance story.
Wattpad has teamed with Collective Pictures — formerly Colony Pictures — to produce “Float.” Marchant’s “Float” has accumulated more than 25.5 million reads on Wattpad and is among the top 20 stories in the teen romance category on the user-generated fiction platform.
“Float” centers on 17-year-old Waverly, who after her parents’ messy divorce finds herself yanked from her comfortable life in Alaska to spend the summer in her aunt’s sunny beach town. Raven Banner has boarded a feature-length version of Canadian TV series Todd & The Book Of Pure Evil backed by an Indiegogo campaign and will distribute in Canada.
Aircraft Pictures, Corvid Pictures and Frantic Films are behind the project about a group of friends who must deal with personal problems and an apocalyptic tome.
Craig David Wallace directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Charles Picco.
The film is currently in production with all the original voice cast including Alex House, Maggie Castle, Bill Turnbull, Melanie Leishman, Chris Leavins and Jason Mewes.
Andrew Rosen of Aircraft Pictures and Sarah Timmins of Corvid Pictures will produce with Smiley Guy Studios.

The24 producers from Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand will participate in the fifth edition of the networking platform, which runs Sept 3-6 during the Toronto International Film Festival (Sept 4-14).
