Little Alex Horne is slowly convincing the entire world to make comedians do daft things for the Taskmaster, and we very much approve. There are currently seven international Taskmaster series running, while a handful of other attempts at international remakes finished after one season, and the newest iteration, Taskmaster Australia, is due to launch in 2023.
When you watch clips of the international versions, they are generally recognisably Taskmaster, from the red-carpeted stage and the clinical white room in the Taskmaster house to the graphics and Horne Section soundtrack. It’s all so comfortably familiar that – if you watch a version with subtitles – you quickly forget the contestants are speaking a different language altogether.
But there are some key differences, from the show’s format to each different country’s cultural quirks, that give Taskmaster’s international versions their own unique flavour.
Here’s a rundown of all the active international...

“Aline,” the biopic loosely based on French Canadian hitmaker Celine Dion, has been acquired by Roadside Attractions and Samuel Goldwyn Films for U.S. distribution. The critically acclaimed musical comedy-drama world premiered out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival. It will be released theatrically in the U.S. in early 2022.
Lemercier, one of France’s most popular actors and stand-up comedians, directed, co-wrote (with Brigitte But) and stars in the film as Aline Dieu, a singing prodigy (who is meant to be Celine Dion) who grew up in 1960s Quebec surrounded by her tight-knit family of 13 siblings.
When a famous producer, Guy Claude (who is meant to be René Angélil), discovers Aline and her golden voice, he sets out to make her the world’s greatest singer. The crowd-pleasing film charts Aline’s life journey from her childhood through to her sudden rise as a global superstar, showing her impressive transformation.

Tva, a French Canadian TV network, has picked up a new comedy show called lOl:-) after it had seen the pilot of the show. Moreover, lOl:-), which is a "non-verbal" comedy just like Just for Laughs Gags, has been sold to Comédie, a French cable network, and Nippon Television, a Japanese TV network.
Now that the show has been sold to some networks, at least 1000 comic mini-clips representing 39 half-hour episodes are in production in Canada, Mexico, France, the USA and Morocco. These clips last between 30 seconds to two minutes.
While the cast hasn't been confirmed for the show, anyone who watches this clip will probably recognizes Réal Bossé, Martin Drainville and Antoine Vézina.
