First combining his musical talents and technical know-how, he started in music recording and production working with rap artists Third Bass, Run DMC, KMD, Leaders of the New School; rockers Mark Hudson, Pat Dinizio, Cy Curnin; and dance/R&B artists Ce Ce Penniston, and Angie Stone, and more.
Then he followed his curiosity into film and video editing working on documentaries features and television series content for broadcasters including HBO, PBS, A&E, Discovery/TLC, FOX, TruTV, Bravo and NBC. Then he cut the award winning feature "Nuyorican Dream", executive produced by John Leguizamo and Jellybean Benitez, which was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 2000, the PBS feature "America Rebuilds: A Year at Ground Zero", which chronicled the year long cleanup and rebuilding efforts at the World Trade Center site after 911, and the HBO Children's documentary series "The Music in Me", which won the Peabody Award in 2006.
By 2005, Allan was producing content as well and was named Senior Producer for A&E's hit series "Dog the Bounty Hunter" serving roles in the Field as well as Post for over 60 episodes. He soon became a Series Producer in 2006 & 2007.
By 2008 he stepped up to Executive Producer for projects including "2 Months, 2 Million" (G4), "Snow Men" (TLC), "Arctic Roughnecks" (Discovery), "American Treasures" (Discovery), and "NY Ink" (TLC).

Then in 2015, he joined Vice Media to help launch the television version of their "Motherboard" vertical.
From 2016-2018 Allan moved onto the role of VP of Current Programming at NorthSouth Productions, overseeing multiple shows as Executive Producer for an array of OTT, Linear, and Digital Content offerings.
In 2019-2020, he shifted focus again back to editing for Paramount's "The Last Cowboy", Animal Planet's "The Zoo", and History Channels, "Eating History."
