The One Piece anime recently featured the famous Rob Lucci vs Gear 5 Luffy fight in episode 1100. The battle was one of the best One Piece fights ever, and it impressed a lot of anime fans. However, the fight was not only liked by One Piece fans but one instance before the fight even impressed Attack on Titan fans.
Luffy and Lucci in One Piece
Luffy, before engaging in a fight with the CP0 agent, did something instinctively that reminded Attack on Titan fans of Eren Jaeger, the protagonist of Hajime Isayama’s series. Although the action was quite different, it had the same intensity as Eren and led fans to believe that the Captain of the Straw Hat Pirates was trying to imitate Eren Jaeger.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for FBI: International Season 2 Episode 12, “Glimmers and Ghosts.”] Christiane Paul returns to FBI: International for an episode that gets very personal for Katrin Jaeger. The investigation into the murder of a former asset of the Stasi — a huge network of informants and collaborators who spied on family, friends, and neighbors — in East Germany leads to Jaeger opening up to Scott Forrester (Luke Kleintank) about her own family’s history. She grew up in East Berlin but remembers her family being happy until the day her father found a listening device in the living room. Then, when she was 7, her father took her to a park, sat her on a bench, and went to get hot chocolate … only to never return. He abandoned them and escaped over the wall. Her mother was arrested on suspicion of complicity, and that was the end of her family. But it turns out the man who put Jaeger on ...

Christiane Paul returns to FBI: International as Katrin Jaeger, but it’s not entirely a happy reunion for the Fly Team with their former Europol liaison. The case ends up being a very personal one for Jaeger. In “Glimmers and Ghosts,” Jaeger, the Fly Team, and Smitty (Eva-Jane Willis) investigate when, in Berlin, an unidentified American kills an elderly German man who appears to have been a covert asset of the ruthless Stasi in East Germany during the Cold War. Paul previews her return. Preview what brings Jaeger and the Fly Team back together. Christiane Paul: There’s obviously a murder case — otherwise, the FBI wouldn’t come in — in Berlin and the victim seems to be a retired math teacher and he’s actually killed by an American citizen. What’s very strange about this case is that we’ve got an audio recording of the voice of the killer.

The Fly Team of CBS’ FBI: International gets an assist this week from a very familiar face when a murder in Berlin reunites them with Europol agent Katrin Jaeger, played by former series regular Christiane Paul.
TVLine spoke with Paul about returning for no mere encore but a “deep dive” into Jaeger’s past, with the episode “Glimmers & Ghosts” (airing Tuesday at 9/8c). And while we had the German actress on the Zoom, we had to get her thoughts on Starz’s gone-too-soon spy drama, Counterpart, and the literally viral storyline she was a part of.

After working on Moana, director Don Hall was left thinking about the world he is leaving behind for his children. This thought gave birth to Strange World, an adventure story with an environmental theme. The film follows the legendary Clade family, as they explore the unknown regions of Avalonia. Jaeger (Dennis Quaid), Searcher (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Ethan (Jaboukie Young-White) are three generations of the family, each with different opinions that conflict and threaten their latest mission. Producer Roy Conli was drawn in by the story of generational conflict between three generations of a family.

“Strange World” landed with a thud this past weekend — its underwhelming 19 million gross contributed to the worst Thanksgiving in box office history. But those who ventured to see Disney’s latest animated feature might have a different onomatopoeia on their minds: Splat, as in the sci-fi adventure’s mischievous scene-stealer. The blue blob comes off as a cross between The Magic Carpet from “Aladdin” and Stitch from “Lilo & Stitch,” with a little Mickey Mouse thrown in as well. It’s also the film’s most complex character, given that it’s faceless, can’t talk, and communicates with the aid of its seven tentacles.
Also, director Don Hall was adamant that Splat couldn’t shape shift. For the animators, it was like playing charades with balloon animals. “I was hopeful that it would be a fun, pantomime character, but they took it to a whole other level,” Hall told IndieWire.

In Walt Disney Animation's "Strange World," viewers will visit a land set in the center of a seemingly impassable mountain rage. But Jaeger Clade (voice of Dennis Quaid) is a grizzled old explorer whose life's mission is to see the other side of those mountains, and nothing will stop him from accomplishing that goal. Not even his teenage son Searcher (voice of Jake Gyllenhaal) can stop him when the latter discovers some plants called Pando that bring electricity to the land. No, Jaeger is too determined to be the first to cross the range, and he ends up leaving his son, the Pando, and the rest of the team behind.
25 years later, Searcher is a farmer of Pando, married to Meridian Clade (voice of Gabrielle Union), with a teenage son of his own named Ethan (voice of Jaboukie Young-White). The marriage is happy; Ethan has a lovely crush on a...

Walt Disney Animation has a long history of presenting stories about adventures. The House of Mouse has taken its audience on adventures into the woods, under the sea, almost there, just around the riverbend, and into the unknown. Thanks to Pete Docter and Bob Peterson's "Up," Disney fans have been saying, "Adventure is out there!" which has become an unofficial motto for most of Disney's most beloved tales. Now, "Strange World," which is currently in theaters, is continuing the adventure. Sharing the recognizable vibes of newsreels and pulp novels, it would make sense to pair the latest film from Walt Disney Animation with the acclaimed Pixar classic for a double feature. However, the Clade Family's journey to save Avalonia has more in common with a different revered Disney movie: "A Goofy Movie."

Disney’s newest animated family film is out just in time for Thanksgiving weekend. “Strange World” is the first new film from Walt Disney Animation Studios since 2021’s “Encanto,” and hails from some of the same filmmakers as “Raya and the Last Dragon.” Here’s all you need to know to watch the movie, which is from co-directors Don Hall and Qui Nguyen (who also wrote the screenplay).
When Does “Strange World” Come Out?
The animated film opened on Nov. 23.
Is “Strange World” Streaming or in Theaters?
Disney released the film exclusively in theaters, so as of right now the only way to see it is in a movie theater. Check your local listings.
That said, expect it to be streaming on Disney+ sooner rather than later. Perhaps maybe in time for Christmas, like how Disney released “Encanto” on Disney+ just 30 days after it hit theaters.

Disney Animation's latest feature, "Strange World," hits theaters today. The film is an adventurous romp that focuses on themes of father-son relationships and taking care of where you live -- not only for yourself, but for future generations. It also has some twists and surprises that I highly recommend you avoid finding out about before you see the movie.
In "Strange World," we follow the Clade family — grandfather Jaeger Clade (Dennis Quaid), father Searcher Clade (Jake Gyllenhaal), mother Meridian Clade (Gabrielle Union), and 16-year-old Ethan Clade (Jaboukie Young-White). Along with their town's leader, Callisto Mal (Lucy Liu), they go on a journey underneath their land and find themselves in a very strange world indeed.

That latest offering from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Strange World, proves to be an entertaining and remarkably endearing portrait of a slightly dysfunctional father and son relationship being mended and rebuilt through communication and mutual respect. It is a surprisingly solid family film that ultimately emerges as the wonderful story of an estranged father and son reconnecting after several years.
After a lengthy prelude that introduces the Clades – particularly Jaeger and his son Searcher – as they explore the land beyond the mountains of their village, the film jumps forward several years to show a grown Searcher (voiced by Jake Gyllenhaal) now considered a savior of the village after returning from the initial expedition with a miraculous plant that has since powered the village and allowed many significant technological advancements. Unfortunately, the plant now appears to be dying and it is decided that an expedition must be immediately mounted to locate...

The cast was solid, and the familial relations that it explored held my attention. On top of that was a collection of weird creatures and an adorable little fellow named Splat. Why? Because he Splats around and is ridiculously charming. It has no face or definition and is just a mini-blob-like creature that befriends one of the main characters. It was an exciting premise from the beginning; thankfully, it worked.

Strange World, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ new family offering is indeed strange, a film that ought to skew much older because of its reference points but caters to a surprisingly young audience too, mostly on account of its brilliant lava-lamp aesthetics. It also comes with a timely eco-message, albeit one so convoluted that the specifics of it are hard to register when there’s so much action going on. But as with most things in this gelatinous universe, it’s better just to let things slide, and it may be the case with this similarly protean production that its inability to solidify might explain Disney’s difficulty in promoting it.
The story begins in Avalonia, where bullish explorer Jaeger Clade (Dennis Quaid) is leading a small expedition to find out what lies beyond the icy mountains that isolate his country from any other contact. Along the way, his meek son...

Psychedelia and the Walt Disney Company would not, on the surface, seem like two things that go hand in hand. Disney, even now that it encompasses so much of popular culture, is meant to represent family values of a sort, and psychedelia ... is not. But some of the films in the Disney Animation feature canon, such as "Dumbo" and "Fantasia," take certain flights of fancy that are hard to square even now in the studio's legacy, creative leaps that are so stark and remarkable largely because so few films the studio has produced in the modern era have the interest in really pushing the boundaries. Disney Animation's latest film, "Strange World," lives up to its name at least in terms of the artistry on display. The story surrounding that artistry is perhaps somewhat familiar, but it's offset by buoyant pacing, compelling world-building, and truly trippy visuals.

The first animation from the entertainment giant to feature an openly gay teen, about an end-of-days environmental disaster, tries to shoehorn too much in
For his latest Disney animation, Moana director Don Hall has created a wonderfully surreal subterranean land that looks like something that might have been dreamed up by Jules Verne, all DayGlo-pink blobby bonkersness. It’s a strange world populated by weird creatures: shoals of fish flying through the air and an enormous critter that’s a cross between a dinosaur and a jellyfish. The human characters aren’t half bad either: a family of gung-ho explorers. Shame, then, about the environmentally themed plot, which is so tangled it would take the entire Royal Geographical Society a decade to map out.
Dennis Quaid voices paterfamilias Jaeger Clade, a legendary explorer with enormous hands (he’s like Sir Ranulph Fiennes beefed up for a Marvel role). Jaeger disappeared 25 years ago on an expedition,...

In “Strange World,” the world may be super-weird, but those who populate it are some of the most realistic and well rounded that Walt Disney Animation Studios has ever presented. Ergo, it’s the characters as much as the environment that make this vibrant, “Journey to the Center of the Earth”-style adventure movie colorful and diverse in all the best ways. Great as the people and places they explore may be, however, the relatively unimaginative story consigns this gorgeous toon to second-tier status — a notch below director Don Hall’s earlier “Big Hero 6” — instead of cracking the pantheon of Disney classics.
“Strange World” centers on a civilization called Avalonia, which is surrounded by “an impassable ring of mountains.” A sudden (and somewhat underexplained) resource shortage drives three generations of the intrepid Clade family to face the unknown. If there’s one piece of information that “Strange World,” the new sci-fi adventure from Walt Disney Animation Studios, will make sure you understand — by having characters explicitly discuss it on more occasions than necessary — it’s that the expectations parents have of their children, as a way to preserve or surpass their legacies, can become an unfair burden.
The son of a renowned and courageous explorer, Searcher Clade (voiced by Jake Gyllenhaal) didn’t want to carry on with his father’s mission. For the burly Jaeger Clade (a boisterous Dennis Quaid), the dad in question, venturing beyond the mountains that enclose their homeland of Avalonia held the only answer to ensure their future.
But the apple fell far from the tree. Rather than seeking resources elsewhere, Searcher earned the country’s respect by harnessing the power of a newly discovered plant: Pando. A quarter-century has passed since Jaeger...

The Clades, in the words of their comic patriarch, are born explorers. They crave adventure, live like nomads, love danger and aim to do the impossible. At the beginning of Strange World, an effortlessly charming adventure-comedy about father-son relationships from Disney’s Animation Studios, viewers are treated to a zippy montage of Jaeger (voiced by Dennis Quaid) and his son, Searcher (Jake Gyllenhaal), traversing coniferous forests, diving into the deep sea and hiking mountainous terrain. Their journeys take them far and make them legends, but never once have they seen the other side of the snowy summits surrounding their small city of Avalonia.
Naturally, Jaeger, a burly pioneer with an affection for the sound of his own voice, becomes obsessed with accomplishing this feat. Searcher, already disinclined to pursue the duo’s dangerous quests, couldn’t care less. When these differences come to light,...

While the creative and commercial aspects of filmmaking often clash due to the sometimes-differing ideologies of art and business, they are two sides of the same coin. One can't exist without the other: films of course cost money to make, and the money has to come from somewhere. One of the most lucrative areas to make money in entertainment is merchandising. If a major motion picture produces toys, apparel, high-end collectibles, and theme park experiences, that's another revenue stream for the filmmakers to keep on creating. Just ask George Lucas.
However, when done right, products that tie into a movie can create a harmonious relationship that serves both the financial and artistic aspects of a project. For example, while speaking to "Strange World" directors Don Hall and Qui Nguyen, /Film's Vanessa Armstrong learned that designer Cory Loftis created Ethan Clade's favorite card game, "Primal Outpost." But he didn't just come...

This Thanksgiving, Disney's "Strange World" will hit theaters. The animated film is set in a fictional land surrounded by mountains that are uncrossable. Well, that's what everyone but a few enterprising people think. It is life's mission for Jaeger Clade (voice of Dennis Quaid) to find out what's on the other side. His son Searcher Clade, however, doesn't want that life, and he discovers a plant that brings electricity to his land. While Jaeger leaves to follow his dream, his son settles down, marries a pilot named Meridian (voice of Gabrielle Union), and has a now-teenage son Ethan (voice of Jaboukie Young-White).
The film has a pulp/sci-fi feel to it, as they all journey into a land full of unusual creatures, but the real heart of the story is the love of family. "Strange World" is also historic in that it doesn't give simply a nod or a passing moment to a queer character.
