Huey “Piano” Smith, a New Orleans R&b legend and an early pioneer of rock n’ roll, has died at the age of 89.
Smith’s daughter, Acquelyn Donsereaux, confirmed her father’s death to the New Orleans Times-Picayune/Advocate, adding Smith died in his sleep Tuesday at his home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
A renowned boogie pianist who recorded alongside the likes of Little Richard, Lloyd Price, Earl King, and countless Big Easy musicians, Smith was best known for his Fifties recording “Rockin’ Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu.”

This year marks the 50th annual edition of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. To celebrate, Smithsonian Folkways will release Jazz Fest, a five-disc box set of live recordings from the iconic fest, spanning 1974 through 2016. The Blacklist is always at its best when the villain-of-the-week is a compelling presence with an easy to understand motivation and paired with an actor with the right kind of talent to draw you into the character. “T. Earl King VI” was a great example of all of that, as it featured a number of outstanding guest stars, an easy to understand mission, and a solution that didn’t call for the dumbing down of the FBI in order to highlight the smartiness of Red.
This week, the mission was Red. Or more to the point, a mission to save Red from the one of a kind auction put on by the titular Blacklister and his unique method of estate management.

Recently, NBC released the new,official synopsis/spoilers for their upcoming "The Blacklist" episode 14 of season 2. The episode is entitled, "T. Earl King VI," and it turns out that we're going to see some very intense and interesting stuff take place when a very dangerous family threatens Red's very existence, and more! In the new, 14th episode press release: Reddington will fall into hostile territory when he encounters a dangerous family. Press release number 2: A former paramour is going to involve Reddington (James Spader) in a deadly game with a wealthy, powerful family dynasty whose ill-begotten fortune was amassed from an underground auction of human and material contraband. In the meantime, Tom (Ryan Eggold) will take on a new mission. Jennifer Ehle and Lance Henriksen guest star. Episode 14 is set to air on Thursday night, March 5th at 8pm central time on NBC.
