With all the drama in the world, sometimes the best way to keep from succumbing to its evil is to let the music ground you. Bob Marley’s famous tunes let the world release its tension in a different way when faced with conflict. It lets you groove to the beat of the human heart. It comforted you like a warm blanket or a caring friend or family member. Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for Bob Marley: One Love, which tells the story of the musician who dared not to let tragedy take his message and his love for the people.
The musical biopic stars Kingsley Ben-Adir, Lashana Lynch, James Norton, Tosin Cole, Umi Myers, Anthony Welsh, Nia Ashi, Aston Barrett Jr., Anna-Sharé Blake, Gawaine “J-Summa” Campbell, Naomi Cowan, Alexx A-Game, Michael Gandolfini, Quan-Dajai Henriques, David Kerr, Hector Roots Lewis, Abijah “Naki Wailer” Livingston, Nadine Marshall, Sheldon Shepherd, Andrae Simpson and Stefan A.

Paramount+ has teamed up with Sex Education producer Eleven to make a series about a bachelor party that ends up with the revelers in prison.
Filming has commenced on the UK original, which is titled Stags and stars Nico Mirallegro (Passenger), Charlie Cooper (This Country), and Asim Chaudhry (People Just Do Nothing).
Other members of the ensemble cast include Corin Silva, Sophie Lenglinger, Paul Forman, Jojo Macari, Cavan Clerkin, Paulina Galvez, and Oscar Foronda.
Here’s the log line: “The six-part series follows groom-to-be Stu (Mirallegro) and his friends on his stag do in South America. What was meant to be a week of drink, debauchery and fun takes a dark turn. Instead of boarding a flight back to the UK, the stags are sent to a lawless prison island run by two warring siblings.
“Quickly it becomes clear that the stags need to pick a side to have any chance of survival.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you haven’t yet watched the final episode of “Man vs Bee.”
It was three years ago that director David Kerr unexpectedly got a call from an old producer colleague, Chris Clark, with whom he’d worked on 2018’s “Johnny English” sequel “Johnny English Strikes Again.” Clark had been developing an idea with “Johnny English” and “Mr Bean” star Rowan Atkinson and wondered if Kerr would be interested in helming the project.
“It was a really simple premise,” Kerr tells Variety. “You’ve got this man in a fancy house full of priceless artwork, with a tiny antagonist. But I can immediately see that it was potentially a wonderful vehicle for Rowan, and for his unique talent.”
The next step was to convene with Atkinson, one of Britain’s most famous and reclusive comedians, in his garden (thanks to Covid-19 restrictions) to discuss Atkinson’s character,...

Bloody Summer Camp is the third film, and the third slasher, from writer/director David Kerr, so I think it may be fair to say he’s a fan of the genre. And, he certainly gets the film off to a proper start as two councillors on their way to Camp Trustfall suffer vehicle issues and find out just how dangerous the woods are at night.
Also in classic slasher style, we then join Tiffany (Kay Leahy) and her friend Kimberly (Chanda Rawlings) on their way to the camp, also to be councillors. Tiffany wants to give the kids the same fun times she had there as a child, Kimberly just wants to party. Warning: contains spoilers for Inside No. 9 ‘The Harrowing’
“It was ‘Wtf!? Oh my God! I’m not going to sleep! Why did you do that to me?!’” The moment the credits rolled on Inside No. 9’s series one finale ‘The Harrowing’, director David Kerr was deluged with messages. “People were very responsive,” he laughs. “We’d gone for something bold that was properly horrible and would haunt them. There’s not much out there that scares a horror fan because they’ve seen it all so many times. That’s the challenge. You want to hit people with a visceral, palpable gut punch that they didn’t see coming.”
Job done. The final shot of 2014’s ‘The Harrowing’ is truly deserving of the episode’s title. A schoolgirl, stripped, bound to a chair, gagged and anesthetised, whimpers in terror as the filthy curtains surrounding a four-poster bed begin to part.

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ (Photo credit: 20th Century Fox).
Freddie Mercury gave his final live performance as the front man of Queen in England in 1986 so it’s clear the Bohemian Rhapsody movie is drawing a lot of moviegoers who either were born after that or were not huge fans of the band.
The 20th Century Fox biopic registered the seventh biggest opening of the year in Oz, 10 per cent ahead of the debut of A Star is Born, which powered through its third weekend.
Meanwhile action-thriller Hunter Killer is another dud in Gerard Butler’s faltering career and Charming, a Us animated musical comedy, did not live up to its title.
Us audiences shunned Fahrenheit 11/9, Michael Moore’s documentary on how Donald Trump ascended to President, so it’s no surprise that Aussies stayed away as the Madman Entertainment release took $36,000 on 17 screens including advance screenings.

In North America this weekend, the opening was just $1.6M at a limited 554 sites, but the true domestic market on these movies is really the UK. There, the Rowan Atkinson-starrer has taken $18.2M to date. More play is ahead as the movie looks to become the biggest in the franchise overseas. It will also be the first film in the spy spoof series that gets an official theatrical release in China.

However not surprisingly, the Universal/Blumhouse horror movie could not hold a candle to Warner Bros’ A Star is Born, which reigned supreme in its second weekend.
Sony’s comedy adventure Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween launched well below the predecessor. Transmission’s Beautiful Boy fared Ok at upmarket cinemas but struggled elsewhere while Icon’s Ghost Stories bombed, mirroring its domestic fate.
Catherine Scott’s Backtrack Boys, an alternate content release, and Heath Davis’ Book Week kicked off with respectable figures at some locations on Saturday and Sunday (see separate story).
The top 20 titles harvested $12.9 million, down 6 per cent on the prior weekend according to Numero.

Despite the halfhearted mystery propelling its plot, the primary question that floats above “Johnny English Strikes Again” is … “Why?”
It is true that its two predecessors — “Johnny English” and “Johnny English Reborn” — did remarkably well overseas. (Americans remained flatly immune.) So clearly, there are still loyal Rowan Atkinson fans out there. But if you’re determined to recycle one of his characters over and over, wouldn’t the beloved Mr. Bean or Blackadder make more sense than a James Bond parody made up for British credit card ads? At the very least, doesn’t he, and don’t his fans, deserve better material?
What’s particularly disappointing about this effort is the amount of talent wasted. In addition to the always-game Atkinson, we’ve got accomplished BBC comedy director David Kerr (“That Mitchell and Webb Look”) and screenwriter William Davies (“How to Train Your Dragon”). And also, rather curiously, Emma Thompson and Michael Gambon.

Seven years after Johnny English Reborn, Britain’s most hapless secret agent is out of retirement and back with more mayhem and disastrous shenanigans in the latest instalment of this hugely popular, if a little tired, franchise. Presenting a fairly pedestrian premise and an even more ludicrous plot full of nods to a shambolic post-Brexit Britain, Johnny English Strikes Again might not always hit the right notes, but the film still manages to be both hugely entertaining and funny throughout, mostly thanks to Rowan Atkinson’s fantastic comic timing and brilliant delivery.
When a cyberattack reveals the identities of all active secret agents working in Britain, the government, led by an out of her depth Prime Minster (Emma Thompson), has no other option but to bring Johnny English back to help stop the hackers. Reunited once again with his trusted and eternally put-upon sidekick Bough (Ben Miller), Johnny decides to...

Mr Bean and Blackadder actor Rowan Atkinson has given us some of the funniest moments of TV and film over the years, and he has returned as super spy/Barclaycard ambassador Johnny English for Johnny English Strikes Again.
The red carpet was unfurled at the Curzon Mayfair this evening for a special screening and Atkinson, Ben Miller, Bond Girl Olga Kurylenko and director David Kerr were in attendance. Olly Murs was also on hand to talk about his appearances on The Voice and Celebrity Juice (which he said might be the end of his career – so tune in!).
The film also stars also stars Emma Thompson, Jake Lacy, Charles Dance, Miranda Hennessy, Adam James and Pippa Bennett-Warner.

‘Ladies in Black.’
Bruce Beresford’s Ladies in Black opened impressively in Australian cinemas last weekend, considering that the primary target audience – mature cinemagoers – don’t normally rush out to see films in the first weekend.
Benefiting from glowing reviews and copious publicity, the 1959-set comedy-drama starring Julia Ormond, Angourie Rice, Rachael Taylor, Ryan Corr, Alison McGirr, Noni Hazlehurst and Vincent Perez, looks set for a long run.
Perhaps surprisingly, the Sony release did not open at No. 1. That honour went to Universal’s spy comedy Johnny English Strikes Again, seven years after the release of Johnny English Reborn.
Dark comedy/fantasy The House with a Clock in Its Walls opened in top spot in the Us but under-performed here while Warner Bros’ animated adventure Smallfoot began reasonably well, positioned to cash in on the school vacation.
Madman Entertainment launched Ben Lawrence’s feature documentary Ghosthunter, which won the $10,000 Documentary...

Actor Rowan Atkinson is back as secret agent Johnny English in the upcoming sequel Johnny English Strikes Again and we have an amusing new trailer for you to watch today! I actually enjoyed the silliness of the first couple of films. They were filled with fun and light slapstick humor that made me laugh. The latest sequel looks like it will at least be equally as enjoyable. If you liked the first films that were released, you'll most likely enjoy this one as well. Here's the synopsis:
When a cyber-attack reveals the identity of all active undercover agents in Britain, the country’s only hope is called out of retirement. English’s new mission is his most critical to date: Dive head first into action to find the mastermind hacker. A man with few skills and analogue methods, English must overcome the challenges of modern technology—or his newest mission...

“You haven’t,” he responds.

Directed by David Kerr, “Johnny English Strikes Again” also stars Olga Kurylenko, Emma Thompson, Jake Lacy and Miranda Hennessy. The screenplay was written by William Davies.

Universal has dated Working Title/Studio Canal’s threequel Johnny English Strikes Again for a Oct. 26 stateside bow.
This 15-year old Rowan Atkinson franchise really doesn’t make a dent on this side of the pond, by abroad they’re cash cows with the first two titles making over $320M.
The third pic, which kicks off overseas in late September, has the bumbling spy contending with a cyber-attack that has revealed all the undercover agents in Britain.
Atkinson stars with Ben Miller, Olga Kurylenko, Jake Lacy and Oscar-winner Emma Thompson. David Kerr makes his feature-film directorial debut. Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner produce with Chris Clark. Pic is written by William Davies.

"That was sooner than I expected." Universal has revealed the first trailer for spy spoof comedy Johnny English Strikes Again, the third movie in the Johnny English series, returning after a seven year hiatus. Rowan Atkinson (who also plays Mr. Bean) is back again as Johnny English, the "man with few skills" and wacky, loser spy who helps save Britain, again. This time, a cyber-attack (yes, indeed) reveals the identity of all active undercover agents in Britain, and English is the only one who can help them get everything back in order. The cast in this includes Emma Thompson, Olga Kurylenko, Ben Miller, Jake Lacy, Adam James, and Miranda Hennessy. There's always room in the cinemas for a new spy spoof, right? Or have we seen enough of these kind of comedies recently? Not sure if this will actually be any good, but why not. Here's the first trailer (+ poster...

Here’s an exciting one. Doctor Who legend Russell T Davies is returning to the BBC (and to Cardiff’s Doctor Who base!), to put his spin on another bastion of British culture – he’s adapting William Shakespeare.
Specifically, Russell T Davies is working on the script for a 90-minute adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. His adaptation – which will be directed by David Kerr (Inside No. 9, That Mitchell And Webb Look, Fresh Meat) – is going by the title The Dream.
Although it’s being adapted by Davies, this new staging of the iconic comedy play has been described as ‘a truthful version […] the original play, the original words, the original Shakespeare. Warm and funny, it will have as much attitude and invention as any theatrical interpretation.’

You never quite know what you're going to get when you venture Inside No. 9.
Each week, the anthology series from Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith can veer from the grotesque to the hilarious - all in the space of a single episode.
From a witch trial in the 17th century to the very human tragedy of a birthday party gone awry, series two took in the heartbreaking '12 Days of Christine', the chilling 'Cold Comfort' and more.
Digital Spy spoke to series co-creator, writer, performer and first-time director Shearsmith about how series two was crafted - and whether a third might be in the works.
There's been a great response to this series of Inside No. 9 - do you follow the reaction as it goes out?
"Yeah I do, it's great to see the reaction - especially because there's so many surprises, which happily we've managed...
Each week, the anthology series from Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith can veer from the grotesque to the hilarious - all in the space of a single episode.

Back in 2001, the landscape of British teen dramas didn't continue much further than Byker Grove, Grange Hill and a relatively new soap called Hollyoaks.
Since then, we've had plenty of shows that focus on the lives of a group of youths, from Skins to Misfits to Made in Chelsea. But there was one show that arguably kickstarted the modern teen drama without getting the kudos it deserves, and that show was As If.
Last year marked the 10th anniversary since the series came to an end, and so Digital Spy decided to look back on the show and find out what happened to some of its main cast members.
As If launched on January 22, 2001 on Channel 4 in the midweek early evening slot, and was later repeated on Sunday afternoons on T4. From series two onwards, it stayed as a T4 staple, but maintained its young adult themes, running for...

Looking for a refreshingly different bit of British telly? Look no further than the new comedy drama series Inside No. 9, Ryan writes...
In a modern world where media, news stories, tweets and animated gifs of cats whistle past our eyes with increasing speed, Inside No. 9 emerges as a bold and refreshingly different bit of British telly.
Written by Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton - two members of The League Of Gentleman and the warped imaginations behind the wonderful Psychoville - it harks back to an earlier age of carefully-wrought, austere TV drama, where great acting and screenwriting take centre stage.
Although set in a rambling country mansion, Inside No. 9's opening episode takes place entirely in one room. In the midst of a terribly posh engagement party, bride-to-be Rebecca (The It Crowd's Katherine Parkinson) is playing a game of Sardines.

Film buffs in the soft south know more than they realise about Glasgow North East. Criminologists know more than they would like to. So do poverty analysts and critics of the former Commons Speaker, Michael Martin, whose enforced resignation triggered the contest in this traditional Labour stronghold.
Home to Barlinnie, Scotland's largest prison, it remains close to the top of many indices of deprivation, low skills and car ownership, high unemployment and social housing. The constituency also contains the Red Road high-rise flats, a 1960s symbol of renewal soon to be demolished. The heroine of Andrea Arnold's award-winning 2006 thriller, Red Road, worked in a local block.
After 74 years of unbroken Labour hegemony in this estates-dominated corner of outer Glasgow, the collapse of railway manufacture, plus a disgraced local MP, it sounds like a recipe for change. That is certainly what the Snp has been campaigning for, though privately party...
