Olivia Colman will not be returning for Season 3 of Netflix’s Heartstopper.
“I couldn’t do number three. I couldn’t fit it in. I feel awful about that,” the Oscar-winner told Forbes in an interview today. And it’s not because she doesn’t want to. Colman, who recurred in the series as Sarah Nelson, called the series “one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever been part of.”
Last May shortly after Season 1 debuted, Heartstopper got a rare — for Netflix — two-season pickup.
Netflix announced last week that the eight-episode Season 3 will premiere in October.
Creator Alice Oseman took to her Instagram Story today to address the series’ evolution in Season 3.

Series creator Alice Oseman responded to the news on her Instagram Story, explaining that the production “tried absolutely everything we could” to get Colman back for the role, but it “wasn’t meant to be, and that’s just the way the TV world works sometimes.”

Sunrise Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Alex Pettyfer, Crystal Yu, William Gao, Kurt Yaeger, Olwen Fouéré, Guy Pearce
Director: Andrew Baird
Sunrise Movie Review Out ( Photo Credit – Lionsgate Movies / YouTube )
What’s Good: Guy Pearce’s sharp performance as the detestable Joe Reynolds stands out, capturing the essence of a villain with racist ideologies and a sense of entitlement. The film occasionally succeeds in capturing the gritty essence reminiscent of top-tier vampire films, exploring the terrifying aspects of racism and violence.
What’s Bad: “Sunrise” grapples with generic dialogue, a lack of character depth, and an inconsistent exploration of its intriguing concepts. The film’s attempt to fuse a vampire story with themes of American racism feels awkward and lacks nuance. The narrative meanders through various genres, resulting in a slow and disorganized amalgamation of ideas.

This article contains spoilers for Heartstopper season 2.
Netflix’s second season of Heartstopper is breaking viewership records for LGBTQ+ programming, transcending the typical queer audience it would be expected to garner. Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) and Charlie Spring’s (Joe Locke) deeply romantic teenage fling started to blossom into a real relationship in season 2, and with that development came discussions around coming out, eating disorders, communication, and sexual consent. The series has a unique way of painting every scenario gold that could possibly trouble its characters.
Heartstopper’s eternal queer ecstasy is an absolute Godsend for the LGBTQ+ community, allowing young viewers to see a bright light of possibility and potential for their adolescent romantic prospects and on into adulthood. The third episode of Heartstopper's swoony second season features a moment of deeply romantic nostalgia, and improbably, given everything that happens in the rest of the season, it doesn't involve kissing. After Tao (William Gao) finally works up the nerve to ask Elle (Yasmin Finney) on a date, he chooses the most archetypal of date-night plans: a trip to the cinema.
This setup fits perfectly within Heartstopper's bubble of romantic fantasy, and also turns out to be the most culturally on-the-pulse moment of the entire season. With the twin releases of Barbie and Oppenheimer turning a trip to the movies into a social event in a way it hasn't been for a long time, Heartstopper is part of the zeitgeist in a way creator Alice Oseman likely never anticipated. Suddenly, one of TV's most Gen Z-centric shows is contributing to the culture's renewed zeal for a night at the movies.

Season 2 of young adult romance “Heartstopper” has arrived on Netflix, accompanied by a soundtrack filled with pop and rock. Adapted from Alice Oseman’s graphic novels, the new season continues the cute, queer, colorful and cartoon-embellished story.
Now that they are boyfriends, Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) and Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) face the nuanced challenges of Nick’s decision to come out to his family and friends. Elle Argent (Yasmin Finney) and Tao Xu (William Gao) fight their own butterflies. Tara Jones (Corinna Brown) and Darcy Olsson (Kizzy Edgell) are back with their relationship road bumps — and let’s not forget our favorite bookworm, Isaac Henderson (Tobie Donovan).
The first episode kicks off on a solid note with Maggie Rogers’ “Shatter” and Fitz and the Tantrums’ “Out of My League.” The 1975’s “The Sound” uplifts episode three after a stressful round of testing for the Year 11 students. Taylor Swift’s...

This article contains spoilers for Heartstopper season 2.
Let’s get one thing out into the open right away: there isn’t a single show on TV right now that uplifts your spirits like Heartstopper. Each episode is like going to the ice cream parlor with friends on a hot summer’s day, or bundling up with your favorite book and hot chocolate on a winter’s night. Originally based on a set of graphic novels by Alice Oseman, the Netflix adaptation of the story shows the journey of English schoolboys Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) and Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) as they unravel their romantic feelings for one another slowly but surely. The first season saw rugby player Nick undergo a sexual awakening via his love for Charlie, while the latter already knows what he likes, but has years of bullying and trauma to heal from.

It’s difficult to follow up after a successful first season with an equally exciting, joyful, and heartwarming second. Especially when it’s a romance, I mean, what more can one expect? Little conflicts, new villains—that’s what we’ve been seeing in media for a while, and really, it gets terribly boring at a certain point. Apart from being the perfect, positive coming-of-age queer show that the world needed, Heartstopper happens to have an even more thoughtful second season that keeps up with its first and seamlessly continues to prove its worth.
Having been a fan of the graphic novels, I was grinning ear to ear through most of the series, and when I wasn’t, I was probably crying for a myriad of reasons. Eight 30-minute episodes feels rather short for a show that has so much heart, but it’s enough time for a tightly woven message and introspective thoughts.

‘Heartstopper‘ is a British coming of age rom-com-drama series streaming on Netflix. It is written and created by Alice Oseman, and is based on her webcomic and graphic novel of the same name. Season 1 was released on Netflix April 2022, and fans will be happy to know that season 2 is now available too.
‘Heartstopper’ Season 2 brings us another 8 episodes following the good “old” characters: Charlie, Nick, Elle and Tao. Together, or apart (no spoilers here), they are still confronting the challenges ahead of them as they are growing up.
Season 1 was received with critical acclaim, particularly for its tone and pacing, as well as its portrayal of LGBT people. It was nominated nine times and won innumerable awards, among them 3 Children’s and Family Emmy Awards; 1 for Best Musical Moment at the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards. The soundtrack deserves a mention, as it became rather popular.

The gift of Netflix’s beloved “Heartstopper” lies in how it showcases queer storytelling in a way that feels joyous, heartwarming and tender to watch.
That’s not to say there isn’t room in the television landscape for more mature representations of queer youth. But at the heart of “Heartstopper” is a utopian vision of queer high school life, a rarely represented freedom to simply be and love who you are meant to during those formative high school years.
Here, the emphasis isn’t on bullying or the trauma that queer teens face, like on “13 Reasons Why.” Rather, we get to follow characters leaning into their identity and trying to find joy and community. It is arguably radical storytelling in the canon of queer representation, and feels necessary in a world where any progress for queer people is met with repressive backlash.

At one point in the new season of Netflix’s Heartstopper, a pair of adult chaperones on a school field trip observe the various romantic entanglements of their students. One is touched and a bit amused by it all, while the other feels wistful about it. “When you don’t figure out you’re gay until your late 20s,” he explains, “you tend to miss out on those beautiful gay teenage experiences.”

The trouble with most shows about teenagers is that while they can be entertaining, the storylines are often farfetched and absurd. In media, depictions of teens are adultified so much that the resulting characters are far removed from real-life adolescents’ daily lives and experiences. With “Heartstopper,” based on the graphic novel and comic of the same name, creator Alice Oseman proves that she recalls the uniqueness and singularity of teenhood. The U.K.-set Netflix series is one of the purest, most vividly accurate TV depictions of what it means to be a teen.

If you heard a high-pitched scream in the wind just now, I was freaking out about Netflix‘s Heartstopper Season 2 trailer. The follow-up season to Netflix’s sensational adaptation of Alice Oseman’s coming-of-age story about teens discovering love is finally here! Not only did Netflix respond by giving the green light for a second season, but we’re getting a third too! Handing out multiple season renewals for a show on Netflix is rare, but weeks of the show trending on social media have sent a clear signal to the streamer to keep pumping money and effort into this joyous series. Oseman returns as the writer and creator for the new season.

On Tuesday, Netflix released its first full look at the new season of the award-winning series, which sees a bunch of relationship and identity drama brewing for Nick, Charlie, Tara, Darcy, Tao and Elle. This all takes place as the group faces exams, a school trip to Paris and prom planning. As the trailer teases, timing can be an enemy or a friend.

The official trailer for “Heartstopper” Season 2 is out, and we’re already getting butterflies.
The second season of the YA romance series, which launches its eight-episode season Aug. 3 on Netflix, picks up as the whirlwind romance between Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke) continues to blossom. They don’t have it all figured out yet, though, and Nick struggles with figuring out when he wants to come out.
“I want to tell people,” Nick tells Charlie in the trailer. “It’s hard to find the right time.”
“I want you to come out when and how you want to,” Charlie assures him.
And it’s not just Nick and Charlie falling for each other. Love is in the air through the whole “Heartstopper” world, with Tao (William Gao) realizing his romantic feelings for Elle (Yasmin Finney) — who secretly reciprocates them (though she hasn’t told him that yet). Tara...

The return of one of Netflix's best series isn't too far away.
As previously reported, Heartstopper Season 2 premieres on August 3, 2023.
Unlike The Witcher and You, the second season of the coming-of-age dramedy will drop its entire season on that date.
Netflix shared the first scenes of the season premiere on Saturday at Tudum.
The sneak peek begins with Charlie (Joe Locke) waking up to a sweet good morning message from his new boyfriend, Nick (Kit Connor).
As the scene progresses, we see them send messages back and forth as they prepare for the day ahead before ultimately crossing paths at school.
If the teaser proves anything, their relationship is still flourishing.
Far too often, needless drama is thrown into TV relationships all in the name of creating -- you guessed it -- drama.
