Actor / writer Tim Ogletree is fairly new in the world of filmmaking. He kicked off his career in 2010 as an office production assistant for the movie Hesher. Ogletree then moved into a starring role in the spoof movie Supernatural Activity. He decided to get even more involved in his latest venture, The Walking Deceased, by producing, writing, and taking a role in front of the camera.
I had the opportunity to interview Mr. Ogletree about his latest project, The Walking Deceased. With zombies all the rage right now, the timing couldn’t be more perfect for a film lampooning the lumbering undead. Read on to see what to expect if you take the opportunity to sit down and watch this horror / comedy.
How did you get involved in The Walking Deceased?
I’ve actually been involved from the conception. Derek Nixon, our rock star of a producer, came to me...

Kim Henkel, writer of the classic horror The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and writer/director of its third sequel, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (although the less said about that the better), returns to the horror genre with Butcher Boys, his first feature in almost twenty years.
In 1729 Jonathan Swift published A Modest Proposal, a satirical tome in which he suggested Ireland offer up their children as food, using cannibalism as a metaphor for the exploitation of the poor by the rich. Well jump to 2014 and Butcher Boys takes this metaphorical concept and turns it into filmic terror as a birthday celebration at an upscale restaurant sets in motion events that bring a group of friends face to face with the macabre...

Directors Duane Graves and Justin Meeks are the subject of our latest Q&A feature, telling us about their experience with the recently released cannibal film, Butcher Boys:
Can you tell me how you got involved with Kim Henkel on this project? Was this something you came to him with or the other way around?
Duane Graves: We’ve had a long 16 year relationship with Kim Henkel. He was our college film professor back in the late 90′s. We took a year of screenwriting courses under him, and after graduating we kept in touch. Justin and I produced a trio of short horror films that Kim produced, and eventually we decided to do a feature film back in 2006 called “The Wild Man of the Navidad.” That film premiered at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival in NYC and was picked up by IFC Films for release internationally. *full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was provided by Phase 4 Films Directors: Duane Graves and Justin Meeks. Writer: Kim Henkel. Cast: Ali Faulkner, Edwin Neal, Marilyn Burns, Derek Lee Nixon, Karrie Cox and Sonny Carl Davis. Butcher Boys is a cannibal film set in Texas, from writer Kim Henkel. Horror fans will recognize Henkel's name from the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974). Henkel is still churning out cannibal films, but the Butcher Boys is tainted meat. Shot on a sparse budget, the Butcher Boys is full of cat and mouse chase sequences and not much more. Instead, the film seems to spin its wheels in the second and third acts. The story begins with four twentysomethings. You will hardly figure out their names before these two couples are being chased by a group of thugs, straight out of S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders. Several minutes are spent with chase sequences,...

Inner city cannibals attack in Duane Graves and Justin Meeks’ “Butcher Boys”, due out on VOD this September 6th courtesy of Phase 4 films. Check out a trailer and some images from the film below. I smell a potential horror movie franchise. After all, who doesn’t love movies about bad boys that will, literally, eat you? Throwing in a very attractive blonde was smart, too. I suspect she’s our Final Girl, though why she’s strapped with dynamite in one of the images below is anybody’s guess. Parodies on horror can be hard to get right, as witnessed by Scary Movie. Personally I thought Scary Movie was quite good, it took Scream as the main focus and actually got a few laughs out of it, and then Scary Movie 2 came along which in a diluted form did the same but with the haunted house setting as the focus of the comedy. After that and after the Wayans brothers left the series it went downhill fast, even though the inclusion of Lesley Nielsen did save it to some extent. Now that we know that Scary Movie 5 is on its way I’m sure that most of us groaned at the thought of that dead dog being kicked once more.

The Boneboys is a looming cannibalistic feature that continues to confuse one film fan. The first trailer for the feature, hosted here, shows a group of friends on the run from something or someone that is left unexplained. Unfortunately, these friends run into a family of cannibals who seem to be on the hungry side. How does a family of cannibals manage to live in a major urban centre? With that question aside, horror fans might remember writer Kim Henkel from his work on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974). This is one of Duane Graves' first feature films as director and Justin Meeks (The Wild Man of Navidad) has a background in both an acting and directing. Have a look at the first trailer for their latest horror venture below and try to put the puzzle pieces together. Directors: Duane Graves and Justin Meeks. Writer/producer: Kim Henkel. *full disclosure: a screener of this film was provided by Osiris Entertainment.
Director: John Sjogren.
Writer: Bonnie Orr.
Cast: Derek Lee Nixon, Kerry Wallum and Oscar Lusth.
Slasher films are a dime a dozen, and The Lights is just one of many “killer” titles coming from Osiris Entertainment. That is, if this company is typecasting itself with the kinds of movies it likes to distribute, then The Lights is a comical addition to the slasher-film genre. Most of it is unintentional; the humour cannot go unnoticed especially when Jack Carter is the crazed killer with some silly one-liners, lame kill-zone moments, and uninispired deadpan deliveries.
Some people may want to know why he has gone cuckoo. The explanation is given with the opening act. When he comes home only to have his wife say she’s leaving him because she is in love with someone else, he simply goes berserk.
