The new stars of The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills have a distinctive pedigree. They’re not just wealthy/trashy housewives as their name implies, and they’re probably not the types to release a pop single or a sex tape. Oh no. These womens got class. That’s because two of them are Hiltons by marriage (that would be Kyle and Kim Richards, sisters to Kathy Hilton), one of them is the ex-wife of Kelsey Grammer (Camille Grammer) and one of them has the best name we’ve ever heard, Lisa VanderPump. Rounding out the cast is Adrienne Maloof, wife of a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, and Taylor Armstrong, who runs her own consulting business. But why focus on the boring un-famous women at the premiere when you have a whole busload of Hiltons in attendance, and a special appearance by Latoya Jackson, amirite? The red carpet for the...

Silly me, when I heard yesterday that Bravo was launching a fifth night of original programming I immediately thought: "What night are they not on now?" Of course, they are on every night, they just end up repeating their more popular shows several times throughout the week in primetime.
Yesterday's press release simply announced that they'll be increasing their original programming output by 20%.
You know what this means? It means you are likely to see far fewer of those all-day series marathons as they make room for several new shows on the schedule. Too bad really, since I prefer my reality show viewing in giant multi-episode blocks. I'm like a prescription drug abuser that way - I've worked up a tolerance and just one episode of, say, Real Housewives won't cut it any more. Oh well.
That minor disappointment aside, there are a couple of newly announced Bravo shows that have me intrigued.

Here's hoping Bobby Trendy is ready for his closeup. Or his aria. Britain's Royal Opera House today dropped a (blond) bombshell on the suddenly-less-staid world of theatre by announcing plans to develop an opera based on the life of Anna Nicole Smith. "It's not going to be a horrible, sleazy evening," Elaine Padmore, director of opera at London's Covent Garden, where the show will be staged, told The Guardian. "It is not going to be tawdry; it is going to be witty, clever, thoughtful and sad." Not to mention in no way short on drama. But one thing it won't be, Padmore promises, is exploitative. "Just because a life has been in the tabloids does not mean it...
