Like most 90s kids, if you have grown up enjoying the adventures of Doraemon and have taken a liking to the wonderful, imaginative, and futuristic worldview showcased in the series, there is a strong chance that you will love Netflix’s latest anime release, T P Bon. Created by the same creative genius duo, Fujiko Fujio, T P Bon not only bears similarities with Doraemon through the common Kodomo art style implemented in their visuals but also through their approach to disguise heavy themes through the bright, colorful lens of children’s fiction. With T P Bon, the treatment veers towards a more mature tone, as time travel shenanigans work as a scrutinizing mechanism, which raises tough-to-answer questions regarding human morality, virtues, and vices.
A second season of T P Bon had already been greenlit before the completion of the first season of the series, and given the fact that...

The world of modern fictional literature will forever remain indebted to the legendary mangaka team of Fujiko Fujio, as with timeless creations like Doraemon, Perman, Obake no Q-Taro, and many other classics in their creative oeuvre, the duo can be truly termed as giants who shouldered the responsibility of revolutionizing the manga scene for four decades. The most intriguing part of their popular works was that, despite the fact that they were primarily aimed at children, they had a subtle yet intense dark depth in them formed through philosophical questioning—something that is no easy feat given the restrictions of said genre. The same can be said about the recently released animated adaptation of Time Patrol Bon, which perfectly captures the apparent lighthearted nature of the source manga while highlighting the nuances that give the series a grim undertone.

In response to several months of scant rainfall in Thailand, a traditional rainmaking ceremony was conducted. This traditional ceremony typically involves parading a cat through the village, with the belief that the wet feline will appease the rain gods and bring much-needed precipitation.
However, in a display of compassion, the organizers opted for a Doraemon doll instead of a real cat.
This event was brought to attention by a Twitter user, who stated, “In Thailand, where it hasn’t rained for several months, a rain-making ceremony was held. Originally, it’s supposed to involve a cat, but out of pity, they used Doraemon instead. Let’s hope for rain soon.“
They also went on to note that the rainmaking ceremony does not involve the sacrifice of animals. Instead, it serves as a symbolic gesture to appeal to spiritual forces or deities for rain. Participants typically engage in a procession through the town.

Mayumi Tanaka, the voice actor of Monkey D. Luffy, the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates in One Piece, might have found the perfect replacement who can take over her role as Luffy. Tanaka has been voicing Luffy for almost thirty years, and she has done a great job portraying the character over the years.
Luffy in One Piece
However, as she is getting old and the series is still a little far away from the conclusion, the creators might have to find someone else who could do justice to the character of Luffy. This has also become a major concern for Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece. Oda never imagined that the series would go on for so long.
In an interview, Oda talked about how Masako Nozawa, the character who voiced Dr. Kureha in One Piece, offered to take Tanaka’s role as Luffy’s voice actor in One Piece.

As the year winds down, it’s time to look back at Netflix’s biggest hits, and today, we begin by looking into what kids’ TV shows picked up the most points in the Netflix top 10s over the past 12 months.
This list is compiled using FlixPatrol data collected from the daily top 10s on Netflix from over 80 countries around the globe. They assign points and values to each title that gets featured on any day. Their data isn’t perfect as their method doesn’t quite fully capture the complexity of viewership data, such as total watch time, repeat viewings, or demographic details of the audience. Also worth noting is that Netflix changed up its top 10 metrics midway through the year to favor views over pure viewing hours. That said, their data provides a pretty accurate snapshot of what performed best over a long period.

IIwatch and review a lot of Asian films, a number of which can definitely be described by the term “extreme” at least due to their distance from everything that is perceived as mainstream cinema. Pink, exploitation, splatter and all kinds of cult do not deter me at all, on the contrary, I frequently enjoy them, despite their no-budget aesthetics. It seems, however, I do have a limit in terms of how low the quality of a title and can be, and “Dosuemon” went much further, even to the point that can be described as offensive, a term I do not remember giving to any title before.
