Cause invariably one of them decides he wants to kill you for helping him. See what I mean? I find that it’s better to just ignore pleas for help and mercy and all that Good Samaritan stuff and go right on my merry way looking out for Number One. Know what I’m saying? Anyhoo. The heroine of Jason Cuadrado’s “Devil May Call” should have followed my lead, cause look what kind of trouble she’s gotten into by trying to help people. Suddenly some huge dude is going all “Terminator” on her co-workers. Told ya. Let's face it. Teenage girls like looking at hot teenage boys just as much as vice versa. And if they're also hot vampires, all the better. Who are we to begrudge them an outlet for their burgeoning womanhood? Let them shriek and swoon and enjoy this weekend of Twilight while we focus on several of the smaller stories that broke during the week of November 15-21, 2008.
Director Kevin Munroe passed on some info about his interpretation of Italian comic Dylan Dog entitled Dead of Night. It offers a cornucopia of monsters: werewolves, zombies, and vampires - and a few sub-categories of those as well. I'm with Butane; this sounds like something to keep tabs on.
One upcoming project that gives me a very creepy vibe is Mel House's Walking Distance, as evidenced by the disturbing exclusive behind-the-scenes stills Mel provided to us.

It’s pretty sad when the trailer for a short film has more promise than most trailers for theatrical releases these days. Or is it? Maybe that’s just a sign of the times… Anyway, the trailer I refer to is for “Monstrous Nature”, the new short from Tales From the Dead (review) director Jason Cuadrado, which is now up on the film’s official site.
For those who may have missed our first story on it, “Monstrous Nature” is about a nun named Angela who is kidnapped from her church by a man named Paul. She awakens in the woods handcuffed to him, forced to choose between taking his life or risking hers when the full moon comes and his transformation begins...
Hell, even that concept is cooler than half the shit coming out of Hollywood these days. Curado sent along an exclusive pic from the film, which you can see below,...

Jason Cuadrado, the Los Angeles filmmaker who made one of the most impressive indie films I’ve seen in a long time, Tales From the Dead (review) dropped me a line last night with some exclusive pics from and news on his latest venture, the short film called “Monstrous Nature”.
The film is about a nun who is kidnapped and wakes up in the woods with a very disturbed man who she soon comes to learn, quite contrary to her faith, is a werewolf, and he’s got some very twisted plans for her. Oh, I’m so there.
For a short film, the cast and crew are pretty impressive. Camillia Sanes (War of the Worlds, “The Shield”) is in the role of the nun, and Gary Perez (“The Sopranos”) is the disturbed lycanthrope. Aj Raitano (Final Destination 3) was the cinematographer, and makeup was handled by Graham Shcofield (Midnight...
