The war in Afghanistan has not gotten much cinematic attention. Whether it’s because of films concentrating on the Iraq War more, the relatively recent nature of the conflict, or the inherent messiness of it all, there’s just a hole in the culture. Enter in Rod Lurie, who saw something in The Outpost, coming out of the Jake Tapper book The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor. The end result is not just one of Lurie’s best works, but a movie that is equally clear-headed about the war, while always being respectful to the individuals who were on the front lines. Hitting some theaters, as well as On Demand services this weekend, it’s one of the best efforts of the year, so far. This film is a war drama, depicting the events of the Battle of Kamdesh, what would be the bloodiest American engagement of the...

It's all-change for the new series, according to the latest press bumf, which tells us that Wolfblood will be moving out of rural Stoneybridge and to the city.
There's been a shake-up in personnel too, as formerly wild Wolfblood Jana (Leona Vaughan) takes centre stage and forms an urban pack comprising a new gang. New Wolfblood characters include corporate boss Imara (Michelle Gayle), her son Tj (Louis Payne), Matei (Jack Brett Anderson), Emilia (Sydney Wade) and...

Cbbc will be getting involved in election fever soon with its new show Vote for Me - in which a group of Year 6 pupils battle it out to become headteacher.
The hopeful candidates will enter the race to become headteacher of their South East London primary school for a week and put into place their new policies - if they can keep their election promises, that is.
During the school election, the pupils will announce their policies and launch campaigns with the help of a top advertising agency.
They'll also get advice from the Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, but will have to brush up on their interview technique as the BBC's political editor Nick Robinson will be putting them to the test on their manifestos.

Wolfblood creator Debbie Moon has confirmed that series 4 has been ordered by Cbbc...
Great news, cariads. This is the Tweet from Wolfblood creator Debbie Moon that we've been waiting to read since series three concluded last October:
"I can now confirm that a fourth season of #wolfblood has been commissioned!"
After what's felt like a very long wait (the series three renewal news came immediately after the series two finale), Wolfblood is returning to Cbbc. We hope you'll join us in a howl of excitement.
Now, stop howling. People are looking.
Moon followed up the message with clarification that as yet, she has no information on cast, filming, transmission dates or anything else, but will pass it all on as soon as it's confirmed. (If you're not already doing so, it's well worth following the show's creator on Twitter here, and regularly visiting her screenwriting blog, here.)

Tumble has been dropped by BBC One.
The celebrity gymnastics competition - which was hosted by Alex Jones - will not return for a second series, the BBC confirmed to Digital Spy today.
"Whilst we are proud of Tumble and very grateful to everyone involved, we sometimes have to take difficult decisions in order to make room for new shows," a spokesperson said.
A BBC source also insisted that Jones is "very important" to the channel.
Tumble picked up an average of 3.3m across its six episodes, which aired in August and September this year.
Stars including H from Steps, Sarah Harding, Amelle Berrabah, John Partridge and Lucy Mecklenburgh took part in the competition, which was won by Bobby Lockwood.

Wolfblood series 3 changed leads, expanded its world, and grew even stronger. Here’s why the supernatural Cbbc show deserves to live on…
Contains spoilers for Wolfblood series 3.
Still teaching ‘grown-up’ supernatural shows how it’s done is Cbbc’s exemplary Wolfblood, which yesterday concluded its third run in the UK.
Series three cleared a hurdle at which previous fantasy and sci-fi dramas have fallen by losing its lead character yet continuing to prosper. When Aimee Kelly (who played Maddy Smith) decided to move on after the end of series two, Wolfblood pulled off the smoothest change of personnel since Kirstie Alley joined Cheers, then kept on going from strength to strength.
Having carefully written its supporting cast from day one paid Wolfblood enormous dividends when it came to series three, and made the transition to a genuine ensemble piece look effortless (however it may have felt behind the scenes). Instead...

The 'Wolfblood' actor was crowned champion of the BBC gymnastics competition after he battled Ian 'H' Watkins, Carl Froch, Amelle Berrabah, Sarah Harding and Lucy Mecklenburgh in the final. Speaking to host Alex Jones after his victory, Bobby said: ''After the week we have had we didn't even know if we would be able to perform so to actually win is mental.'' Bobby Lockwood has been crowned the winner of Tumble.
The BBC One gymnastics competition drew to a close this evening (September 13) as Lockwood battled H, Carl Froch, Amelle Berrabah, Sarah Harding and Lucy Mecklenburgh for the title.
The final saw each of the six compete in a combined floor and double trapeze routine, as well as taking on The Vault.
H led the leaderboard after receiving a full 40 points for his superhero-themed floor routine. Girls Aloud star Harding was awarded an impressive 38 points, receiving strong comments for her highest-scored performance of the series. The pair were joined by actor Lockwood in the top three.
The winner was decided purely by viewer votes, as the judges' scores had no effect on the final result. Once each celebrity had completed The Vault, head judge Nadia Comăneci chose Froch's "different" approach as her favourite.
Speaking to host Alex Jones, a delighted Lockwood said:...

Tumble: BBC One, 6pm
It's the grand final of the BBC gymnastics contest, and the remaining contestants will be pulling out all the stops to impress the judges.
Sarah Harding, Amelle Berrabah and H from Steps are all among the finalists - will it be a popstar that takes the crown? Or will Bobby Lockwood, Carl Froch and Lucy Mecklenburgh have something to say about that?
Doctor Who: BBC One, 7.30pm
The eighth series of the sci-fi drama has had its fair share of dark moments, but in tonight's Steven Moffat-penned instalment, the scares are unleashed good and proper.
As The Doctor and Clara encounter ghosts from their past and futures, something frightens the lone Time Lord like nothing before. Watch with the lights on. And listen.

Peter Duncan has failed to make it through to the Tumble final next week.
The seven remaining celebrities competed in tonight's semi-final, in which they each took on the beam and performed a routine with their professional partner.
Actor Bobby Lockwood topped the judges' scoreboard with an impressive 68.5 out of 80. However, for the first time viewers were given the opportunity to vote, with the judges only accounting for 50% of the total.
Carl Froch and Duncan finished bottom of the combined scoreboard, leaving them to face head judge Nadia Comăneci in The Vault.
The Olympic champion saved Froch, praising his "more difficult" vault, "great execution" and "perfect" landing.
Speaking to host Alex Jones, former Blue Peter presenter Duncan said he'd had "such a great time" on the series.
Froch and Lockwood will compete against H, Amelle Berrabah, Sarah Harding and Lucy Mecklenburgh in the grand final.

Feature Louisa Mellor 22 Oct 2013 - 12:01
Now the finale has aired and a third series has been commissioned, we salute some of the highlights of Cbbc’s Wolfblood series two…
This feature contains plot details for Wolfblood series one and two.
Inventive humour and satisfying storytelling pay little heed to age brackets. Just as Horrible Histories and Adventure Time couldn’t limit their audience to school-age kids if they tried, neither can Cbbc’s Wolfblood, a drama that’s welcomed viewers of all ages into its growing pack.
Not that we interlopers gave Wolfblood any choice; construct a compelling world from likeable characters, peril, comedy and romance, and viewers seeking a decent story won’t be put off by an after-school timeslot. If you build it, they will… oh, you know the rest. Creator Debbie Moon and co. built it, and we came. Loads of us. Kids and grown-ups and everyone in between.

His home life is as frayed as his mothers nerves, from the constant fighting between him and his older brother Josh (19) who has Downs Syndrome. Harry has always resented his older brother for not acting like an older brother should and for all the attention his mother lavishes upon him. Caught between her two sons when they are at loggerheads, it is a source of great upset for mum.
Their already difficult relationship is tested when, in order to get what he wants Harry must bring Josh onside and repair their relationship, at least on the surface. In a drunken adolescent misadventure when Harry needs help most, it falls to Josh to save his brother's neck. Can they repair their relationship or has it gone too far?
