In 1984, Cynthia Nixon made Broadway history by appearing in two productions at the same time. Newly graduated from New York’s Hunter College High School, Nixon was cast in two concurrent plays, “Hurlyburly” and “The Real Thing,” each led by legendary director Mike Nichols. For three months, the teenager would cut between theaters, squeezing in a single scene of “The Real Thing” between the two acts of “Hurlyburly.”
Forty years later, the actor and activist’s career has come full circle. Nixon is a series regular on two successful, widely talked-about shows: “And Just Like That,” the follow-up to “Sex and the City” in which she reprises the iconic role of Miranda Hobbes, and “The Gilded Age,” the Julian Fellowes period drama where Nixon plays the gentle, open-hearted Ada Brook. This year, for the first time, the shows will shoot their upcoming seasons simultaneously.

A trio of Wheel of Fortune contestants embarrassed themselves on live television when they celebrated prematurely.
Following a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune in which a contestant gave host Pat Sajak a tasteless Nsfw answer on live TV, viewers were treated to another controversial moment.
Pat Sajak had to intervene during a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune when a contestant began celebrating what they believed to be a correct puzzle solution.
During Monday night’s show, three contestants Rufus Cumberlander, Luidgi Altidor, and Cynthia King kicked off their game with a toss-up puzzle.
The category was “Phrase,” and as more and more letters began to appear on the board, Rufus was confident that he had the correct answer to the puzzle, which read, “_ _ N ‘_ / L _ O K / A W _ _ .”
Rufus rang his buzzer, and when Pat called on him to give his answer, Rufus exclaimed, “Don’t Look Away!

Recently, Wheel Of Fortune fans were bashing the show for giving contestants undeserving second chances. While Pat Sajak is heading toward retirement rapidly, fans are certainly noticing some “unfair” aspects of the show. Admittedly, now that the retirement is imminent, fans are wishing for more time with the beloved host.
Wheel Of Fortune Prepares For Pat Sajak’s Departure
Both Vanna White and Pat Sajak have been partners in crime for more than four decades. Sadly, Wheel Of Fortune‘s long-time legend will be leaving the show in less than two weeks. Undoubtedly, as his exit nears, Vanna is getting reminiscent of memories from over the years. Although the time is ticking away with Pat in the driver’s seat, Ryan Seacrest is primed and ready to take over. Together the duo has been on 8,000 shows through the years. General Hospital (Gh) spoilers note that recasts are a thing in the land of Port Charles – just like any other daytime drama!
Still, when Soap Opera Digest (Sod) recently asked some of our favorite Gh actresses about the advice they’d give someone who was stepping into a recast role, their answers brought home similar messages.
General Hospital Spoilers – Laura Wright’s Advice For Recasts
Gh spoilers note that Laura Wright knows a thing or two about recasts. While it seems like she has been in the Carly Spencer role “forever” she was Carly recast #5, taking the character over in 2005. Her advice when stepping into the shoes of an already established character?
She tells Sod, that they should “watch what they have to watch” from a previous actor to learn relationship dynamics with other characters on the show; however, they should also, let it go and bring their own dynamic.

Back To Black starts its home rollout next week, with DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray options to follow in the summer.
Currently the highest-grossing 15 certificate film in the UK in 2024, the story of Amy Winehouse was brought to the screen earlier this year in Sam Taylor-Johnson’s really rather divisive feature, Back To Black.
While Marisa Abela as Winehouse earned plenty of acclaim, questions were asked of the film, and more are likely to follow as it makes its way to home release. Not got long to wait there, either. The film will be debuting on premium video on demand services from 27th May.
Studiocanal has also confirmed that it’s fully supporting the movie via physical media too. The film will be heading to DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray from 1st July 2024.
There’s also going to be a HMV-exclusive ‘First Edition’ too, which is nice.

In director Sam Taylor-Johnson’s new biopic Back to Black, British costume designer PC Williams took on the monumental task of dressing Marisa Abela as Amy Winehouse, as well as the rest of the cast. Named for Winehouse’s second and final studio album released in 2006, the film spans eight years in the life of the iconic singer, who passed away in 2011 at just 27 years old.
Winehouse left a tall fashion legacy with her unique mix of retro va-va-voom styles and sportswear. Caricature-like proportions were another signature — from a giant beehive, bold gold jewelry and teetering peep-toe pumps to diminutive halter dresses and ultra-skinny jeans. In 2010, the singer even collaborated with one of her favorite British labels, Fred Perry, on a 17-piece capsule line. The brand, featured heavily in the film, continues an ongoing collection to benefit the Amy Winehouse Foundation. A 2021 Julien’s Auctions sale of some of the...

Saura Lightfoot Leon stars in Luna Carmoon’s impressive debut film as the daughter of a hoarder. Here’s our Hoard review.
On the set of her debut feature Luna Carmoon sprayed a scent, appropriately titled Secretions Magnifique, that was designed to emulate the smells of sperm, blood, sweat, tears to immerse her actors more in the mood of the film. That might sound gross, but that’s kind of the point. Hoard is unapologetically disgusting, but a deeply empathetic film about sexuality, loneliness and grief.
Hoard opens with a mother-daughter duo, Cynthia (Hayley Squires) and Maria (Lily-Beau Leach) digging through bins to find treasures that they take back to their overflowing flat. Cynthia is hoarder, emotionally attached to every single piece of clutter in her house. She nearly breaks down when she thinks Maria didn’t bring back the peels of her orange and tinfoil back from school. Maria...

Talented singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse’s tragic life was already the subject of an Oscar-winning documentary, Amy in 2015, made a few years after her death in 2011at age 27 from alcohol poisoning. So my first reaction on hearing of the biopic drama Back To Black was to wonder if we needed another Amy Winehouse movie. The excellent 2015 documentary seems to have have told her story well and thoroughly, but reportedly the Winehouse family was unhappy with it. However, the family granted permission to the filmmakers of this new biopic drama, Back To Black, with access to materials and song use.
Director Sam Taylor-Johnson and writer Matt Greenhalgh previously collaborated on another music biopic, Nowhere Boy, a fine drama about the childhood of John Lennon. The filmmakers assert that...

For a time, John Lennon was the clear frontman of The Beatles. His bandmates looked to him with admiration and media outlets established him as the group’s leader. According to a Beatles associate, this was a position Lennon wanted but could not hold. He grew too lazy as the 1960s wore on.
John Lennon was initially the clear leader of The Beatles
Peter Brown, the personal assistant to Beatles manager Brian Epstein, had a close working relationship with the band for years. While he said he did not play favorites, he primarily communicated with Paul McCartney. McCartney was more invested in the group than his bandmates.
“I could communicate with Paul. I suppose I was closer to him, but I was always enamored of John’s enigmatic personality,” Brown told Rolling Stone. “Paul was the thorough one, the workaholic, and John was lazy.”

Donning a stunning grape-printed Balmain gown, Cynthia Erivo brought fruitcore glamour to the 2024 Gold Gala red carpet, where her Wicked co-star Michelle Yeoh and director Jon M. Chu presented her with the Gold Ally Honor.
I’ve always admired Cynthia Erivo’s daring approach to red-carpet dressing, and her most recent look further solidified her status as a major player in the fashion world.

Amy Jade Winehouse could have been any young woman growing up in 1990s London — palling around with her mates, sneaking lagers, shagging dudes, getting into trouble, getting her nose pierced, and getting expelled from drama school for it. (That, and a few other reasons.) Until she opened her mouth, at which point she seemingly became possessed by a 1940s jazz chanteuse channeling centuries-old lust and sorrow. Winehouse went from a kid with a bluesy, contralto wail that almost felt like a parlor trick, considering that it was coming from a tiny white teen from Southgate,...

“Back to Black,” the 2006 album that the new Amy Winehouse biopic takes its title from, is a record built on an exquisite contradiction. The music has a crispy delicious retro-bop bounce, a quality that extends to Winehouse’s voice, which takes the growling-cat stylings of jazz legends like Sarah Vaughan and Billie Holiday and kicks them up into something playfully ferocious. Yet when you tune into the lyrics, they’re as dark as midnight. “Rehab,” the album’s showpiece track, is surely the jauntiest song ever recorded about an addict who pulls a stance of rock ‘n’ roll defiance out of the impulse to drown herself in booze.
At its best, “Back to Black,” the forthright and compelling movie that’s been made of Winehouse’s life, takes that light/dark balance and digs into the drama of it. The film’s snaky on-and-off fascination starts with the British actor Marisa Abela,...
