Not to be outdone by the trades we asked our friends in the production if there were any more shots we could share. As we say, et voila! The first two images are from the article in Variety. The new shots give us a clearer sense of the time period and the work of...

Nuns, the wrongfully interned and supernatural forces converge on an asylum, playing duelling protagonists, in “Auxilio,” the latest film from Argentina’s multi-faceted genre darling, Tamae Garateguy (“She Wolf”). Del Toro Films has provided Variety with sometimes exclusive, behind-the-scenes stills from the project, currently in the final phases of post-production.
In true Garateguy fashion, the film promises a thrilling dose of psychological distress alongside its gore, and benefits from the keen gaze of its director, highly-female cast and production crew.
Set in Buenos Aires during the first military coup, the film takes an uneasy glance at a myriad of taboos, knocking its moral compass loose to ensure the distress hops off-screen; to stick with its audience long after they’ve left the theater.
Stills show Tamae alongside the cast and crew, her neon-pink hair in stark contrast to the drab, moody grounds of the infirmary and the dark hues of the carefully-curated wardrobe.

Buenos Aires — Online in 2020, and sporting a boutique on-site edition in 2021, Ventana Sur, Latin America’s biggest film-tv market, is roaring back, attendance levels, especially from delegates outside Argentina, looking set to break all time records.
“With all the sales companies, distributors and platforms coming back, it’s really great to find the same dynamism as in 2019,” Jérôme Paillard, Ventana Sur co-director, commented a week out from this year’s 13th edition, running Nov. 28 to Dec. 2.
In some ways, in fact, there may be more. 10 takes on this year’s event, backed by the Cannes Festival, Market and Argentina’s Incaa film-tv agency:

Undisputed Argentine shock-and-awe royalty, Tamae Garateguy, is set to begin filming her next feature, “Auxilio” (“Help”). The shoot, an Argentine-Colombian co-production, will start in August and take advantage of locations throughout Buenos Aires.
“Buenos Aires is a vital protagonist. I think it’s a very cinematic city, with neighborhoods that are just as they were 200 years ago, others are the same as they were 50 years ago,” said Garateguy.
The premise promises a horrifying glance at an onerous era that saw the country’s first military coup. Nuns, the wrongfully committed and supernatural forces collide to comment on the torture women suffer at the hands of unjust and unrelenting societies.
“I feel like this film falls into the moment. There’s a lot of anger from women. Supposedly everything is moving forward to produce more equality between men and women, and this clear setback is a little like the film that...

Argentina’s Magma Cine is powering up a female-dominated slate with some of Latin America’s biggest talent. Chile’s Paulina Garcia, best known for her Berlinale Silver Bear Best Actress-winning performance in Sebastian Lelio’s “Gloria,” plays opposite another giant talent, Argentine thesp Mercedes Moran who co-wrote the dramedy “Norma” with Santiago Giralt, who directs it.
“Norma” revolves around the titular character, played by Moran, whose quiet life in a village is upended when her long-time maid of 20 years abruptly resigns. Now 60, she sets off with her new eccentric friend, played by Garcia, in search of the life she has always wanted.
Uruguay’s El Cielo Cine, an ad agency run by Federico Cetta that’s venturing into filmmaking, has joined Magma Cine along with Argentina’s Ají Molido (Alejandro Israel) and Los Griegos (Federico Carol and Giralt). Chile’s Storyboard Media, run by Gabriela Sandoval and Carlos Nuñez,...

The Tokyo Gap-Financing Market, operating for the first time this year as part of Tiffcom, has given hope to some filmmakers who are struggling to fund their projects. The Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted many normal financing channels.
The Tgfm enables producers to meet potential investors, sales agents and post-production outfits over a three-day period (Nov. 4-6). Some 20 projects were selected to participate, from 87 applications received. They include 14 feature- projects and six TV series projects. They hail from 14 territories and already have an average of 66% of their budget in place, according to Tifcom.
Royston Tan’s “24,” is the Singaporean director’s sixth film. It revolves around the afterlife journey of a sound recordist, who visits 24 places after his death. Tan is looking to raise 30% of the $200,000 budget.
“With the pandemic, we are unable to attend festivals and markets, which forces us to rethink and adapt how financing works,” Tan told Variety.

Magma Cine, a pioneering company on the pan-Latin American co-production scene, and top Mexican post-production house Chemistry have sealed a strategic alliance to produce high-quality contents.
Unveiled at Buenos Aires’ Ventana Sur, the partnership aims to respond to the strong appetite of regional Ott services as well as pan-regional studios, and forms part of an emerging initiative led by ambitious companies from markets such as Mexico, Argentina and Colombia, looking for new alliances to adapt to market demand.
While in Mexico the Ott platforms and studios such as Turner Latin America boom have generated a strong demand for content, in Argentina OTTs are not as integrated, in terms of project requests, so it leaves well-known screenwriters working at under-capacity.
Argentine TV fiction has always been well received in the Mexican market, as demonstrated by examples such as telenovela “Rebelde” and “El Recluso,” a remake of TV series “El marginal.”

Once here, Luis Alejandro Pérez García’s “Piola” stomped around the Guadalajara Construye Works in Progress section like it owned the place, snatching up six of a possible 13 prizes.
After the success of Juan Caceres’ “Perro Bomba” in the same competition last year – the film scored four awards – perhaps it shouldn’t have been a surprise that another Chilean feature would perform so well this time around.
“Piola” turns on the chance interaction between three young people in moments that would be recognizable to teenagers the world around. Martin’s family is moving and he can’t be bothered to involve himself. Sol is searching for her lost dog and dealing with an unrequited romance. And Charly can’t handle his miserable job and the stresses of teenage fatherhood.

In a perfect world, you’d know the names Tamae Garateguy and Jimena Monteoliva already. Sadly, their urgent, black-and-white, giallo-esque She Wolf has yet to find U.S. distribution after hitting festivals in 2013. Argentinian helmer Tamae Garateguy made a quite an impression a couple years back with her feature She Wolf - a hugely stylish black and white psycho sexual thriller that won raves at Fantastic Fest and other festivals around the world. So what next for the talented director? Well, she was back at Fantastic Fest last year pitching her ambitious vampire project El Plata are the Mercado Fantastico project market and while waiting for that to come together has teamed up with producer Jimena Monteoliva to co-direct upcoming slasher All Night Long. Garateguy and Monteolive are no shrinking violets so expect the pair to pull no punches with this one. They certainly don't hold back with the recently released teaser. Check it out below....

Joining the growing trend of Chinese companies seeking out a role in the movie business, Internet giant Youku is launching Heyi Film. A wholly owned film production subsidiary, it will make films “to the tastes of the Chinese audience” and “improve film marketing and distribution,” Tech in Asia reported. Heyi is eyeing major theatrical releases and helping online talent branch out. Among the first projects are Bad Sister, starring Ivy Chen; Vacation In Paris, starring Amber Kuo and Louis Koo; and The Master, a co-production with Beijing Century Partner Culture and Media. There’s also a plan to transfer popular web series Yes Boss! and Miss Puff, Tia says. Alibaba is the most recent Chinese company to add film production to its portfolio. However, a red flag was raised over its $804M acquisition of ChinaVision Media Group when the company said it had discovered suspicious accounting and suspended its shares...

The rough Argentinian horror film She Wolf sounds like a pretty simple proposition: it's about a young woman who "prowls" the night, searching for men, whom she promptly entices, seduces, and murders. Street corners, dance clubs, subway trains, she doesn't seem to care where the men come from -- just as long as she can get her thrills and dole out some gruesome punishment before the night is through. Oh, and this crazy lady may or may not be some sort of wild werewolf woman who simply cannot control her impulses. So already there's enough material, both on the screen and in the "subtextual" department, to make a fairly compelling horror film: instead of the painfully familiar "rape/revenge" template, She Wolf simply has a beautiful woman as the predator. Simple stuff, perhaps, but surely the sort of themes that lend themselves well to horror cinema: sexy stalk and slash...

Bursting with feral energy, Tamae Garateguy's She Wolf (original title: Mujer Lobo) is a fever dream about sex and love and sex and then a little more sex. And then the screaming starts. Sceenwriter Diego Fleischer, working from Garateguy's idea, constructs a skeleton of a story about a woman who struts through the streets and subways of Buenos Aires, Argentina, turning heads wherever she goes. Frankly, she doesn't have to work too hard. It's as though she walks around in a heady cloud of pheromones, and the men come to her like hungry puppy dogs. The sexual encounters that follow are naked, grasping, grappling power plays, in which the men assume that they're in control, blind to the reality that the woman has manipulated them...

You know... after looking at the stars of the new werewolf flick She Wolf, or Mujer Lobo for you purists out there, we are all in agreement on one thing: Yeah, they can attack us whenever they want... as many times as they want.
Directed by Tamae Garateguy, She Wolf stars Mónica Lairana, Luján Ariza, Guadalupe Docampo, Lujan Ariza, Edgardo Castro, and Nicolás Goldschmidt.
"This is an erotic police story featuring some edgy situations,” says the director. The she wolf of the title is a multi-faced serial killer (played by three actresses- Lairana, Ariza, Docampo). She’s somehow doomed by that homicidal drive, in which she seduces men, takes them to bed first, then immediately to the grave, and later continues on her way. Until, of course, she bumps into a difficult problem.

As previously announced, Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon’s The Cabin in the Woods will have the honours of opening the festival, and now they have released the full list of films – and it’s looking pretty amazing.
