RZA joined Russell Crowe on-stage with his band The Gentlemen Barbers on May 19th as part of the actor’s Australian pub concert series, the Indoor Garden Party.
The Wu-Tang Clan mastermind made his surprise guest appearance at The Bridge Hotel in Sydney as Crowe’s collective, which featured keys, trumpet, and a trio of backing vocalists, launched into the original tune “Let Your Light Shine.” The Oscar-winning actor and lead vocalist originally shared a studio version of the song in early May, but its live rendition stands as a worthy remix with its fresh RZA verse and slicker, bluesy edge from the live band. Watch fan-captured footage of the moment, plus a subsequent local news report posted by Crowe, below.

Ben Steel with assistant editor Mars Williamson (l) and editor Lucy Paplinska.
As an actor Ben Steel often suffered from anxiety and depression – but for years his condition was not diagnosed or treated.
Discovering that many people in the entertainment industry struggle with mental health issues and substance abuse, the former Home and Away star embarked on a personal and professional journey.
Steel has interviewed 63 people from all walks of the industry, including actors, musicians, theatre producers, editors, roadies, dancers and sound recordists, who shared their experiences for The Show Must Go On.
Every single one recognised that mental illness is a massive issue and only a handful declined to go on the record due to their public profile or wishing to remain anonymous.
The interviewees include Sam Neill, David McAllister, Jocelyn Moorhouse, Dean Ray, Marcia Hines and Michala Banas.
Sue Maslin is producing the feature documentary with Steel, his feature directing debut,...

marry me was designed as the closing act for Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardis Gras 2014. Originally Adam George, Nathan Mohen and Marcia Hines performed “Same Love” live with the video, although this has the original Macklemore & Ryan Lewis track.
The video tells the all too familiar story of gay life for many – the drunken bar encounters, Grindr hookups, arguments with your parents when you come out, all interspersed with ordinary days and longing to be part of a couple and have your life, until it just happens when you aren’t looking for it, in the small moments.
The video progresses to a joyous ending, and I’m not ashamed to admit that I choked up a few times along the way. Beautifully done.

Marcia Hines has finally spoken out about her daughter Deni's controversial stint on last year's Celebrity Apprentice Australia. Deni was dubbed 'the witch' of the reality television show by critics after run-ins with fellow contestants Polly Porter and Jesinta Campbell, but former Australian Idol judge Marcia said that the producers of the show are probably to blame for her portrayal. Marcia told the Herald Sun: "Editing is a bitch, Deni isn't. The truth of the matter is, when you are fatigued and angry, things come out of your mouth. Reality television is a harsh thing. "For Deni, it was a wake-up call because you don't expect that level of backlash from things you say normally. If you say it to your friends, they don't talk to you for a week. When it's out in the public arena, everyone has something (more)...

Marcia Hines has revealed that she would consider cosmetic surgery. The 58-year-old singer, who used to be a judge on reality television show Australian Idol before it was axed, said that nobody should "judge" others for doing what they believe makes them look younger and feel better. When asked what her skincare secret was, Hines joked to the Herald Sun: "Black don't crack," then added: "I wouldn't say no [to plastic surgery]. Who's to judge? Who's to judge a person for doing what they want to do? I wouldn't say anything. To each his own." The Over 50s Swisse ambassador said that her good skin is thanks to healthy living and good (more)...

Bricklayer Scott Newnham has been named the early favourite to win Australian Idol. After performing Chris Brown's 'Run It' on Wednesday night's show, the 20-year-old Melbourne worker was voted into the final 12 of the competition by judges Marcia Hines, Ian Dickson and Jay Dee Springbett. He told the Herald Sun: "This is a massive head-spin, a lot to take in - like the buzz of riding a rollercoaster." Newnham had never sung in public (more)...

Australian Idol has narrowed down this season's field to 24 contestants. Among them is 26-year-old Kate Cook, whose favorite article of clothing is her jeans, and whose three desert island items would be beer, a guitar and — whoa, hang on: my gaydar is going bananas. We'd better run Ms. Cook through the Stereotype Analyzer to see what's going on.
Harley? Check.
Pierced cartilage? Check.
Backpack? Check.
Guitar, hanging on D and D-suspended like something out of the Indigo Girls freshman playbook? Check.
Hat? Double check.
You know, I think Kate Cook might actually be gay. Let's watch her audition tape to see if we can glean anymore information from it.
Sorry, for a second there I thought a talent show contestant announced her gayness on national television to general applause and merriment from the judging panel. Then I thought Marcia Hines told her she was beautiful, and not to change herself.

Paula Abdul may be hired as the new judge on Australian Idol, according to reports. The ex-American Idol panel member has apparently been approached by Channel Ten to replace Kyle Sandilands, who was sacked after his recent radio 'rape row' scandal. The TV network had previously denied that Abdul would be heading to Australia to join judges Marcia Hines and Ian Dickson, but (more)...
