If there's one thing Guy Torry, DeRay Davis, and Kym Whitley have in common, it's their passion for comedy. Phat Tuesdays founder Torry brought together the greatest in their craft at The Comedy Store on Sunset Boulevard as a chain reaction to the 1992 LA riots. The legacy continues in the new Amazon Prime Video series "Phat Tuesdays." Torry, Davis, and Whitley tell Popsugar about everything from the magic of Black audiences to their memories of the late comedian Bob Saget. We also asked them their least-favorite question: who are your favorite comics, from the giants of the '90s to up-and-comers?
"This is the question I hate the most because it's too many," Torry explains. DeRay and Whitley explain that many Black comics don't get the exposure they deserve. "It's so frustrating," Whitley says, specifically referencing Black women not given opportunities.

Kendrick Lamar has (maybe) seen Drake's video for "Hotline Bling," and is here to challenge him on the dance floor — only he brought Terry Crews for reinforcement. The two star in the video (a.k.a. "black comedy") for Kendrick's sexual-innuendo-filled "These Walls," off To Pimp a Butterfly. What starts out as a story recounted from a guy (comedian Corey Holcomb) in jail about a house party with strippers somehow segues into a talent show/audition for a third Magic Mike that has Kendrick and Crews expertly hitting the quan. All may not end well for our imprisoned protagonist (though the video's "to be continued," so who knows), but at least he'll always have his own crazy Zola story to tell.

Confession time. I’m not the biggest Kevin Hart fan. I don’t mind the actor/comedian in small doses – a supporting actor in films such as the remake of Death at a Funeral and the Scary Movie franchise, but I can’t sit through any of his stand-up shows in there entirety and the last movie hes was the “star” of, Ride Along, was – frankly – awful. However I am always willing to give Hart’s film a go – especially when they look, albeit from the trailer, as hilarious as The Wedding Ringer.

Adult Swim just announced that it's given the greenlight to a new scripted, half-hour live-action comedy to arrive later this year. Aaron McGruder ("The Boondocks," "Red Tails") created the series and will serve as executive producer alongside director Mike Clattenburg ("Trailer Park Boys"). Olivia Thirlby, Jorge Garcia, Cloris Leachman, Dan Gill, Corey Holcomb, Colin Kane, Jenifer Lewis, Alan Ritchson, Ignacio Serricchio, Aaron Takahashi, and Nicky Whelan are all set to join Jeremy Garelick's comedy "The Wedding Ringer" starring Kevin Hart.
Previously referred to as the "untitled Kevin Hart comedy," Josh Gad and Kaley Cuoco, Mimi Rogers, Affion Crockett and Ken Howard also star in the project which just began production.
Garelick and Jay Lavender ("The Break-Up") penned the script in which Hart plays a charismatic guy who provides best man services for socially challenged guys who can't get somebody to agree to stand by them on the day of their wedding.
Gad plays a groom-to-be who finds himself in that situation. Trouble is, he has fabricated not just the best man's name but nine groomsmen as well. He then seeks out Jimmy’s services to carry out the charade.

Looks like Shaquille O’Neal is taking a post-retirement cue from Larry King by embarking on his first ever comedy tour. While O’Neal – along with Cedric the Entertainer – has spearheaded a few Shaq’s All-Star Comedy Jam television specials since 2009, this will find the retiree taking hand-picked comedians – Aries Spears, Corey Holcomb, Tommy Davidson, Capone, Gary Own, and Tony Roberts – out on the road for the first time.
The tour kicks off September 9 in Memphis, Tenn., and runs through mid-November. There are also plans to film the gigs for the upcoming reality show All-Star Comedy Jam Backstage Pass. We just received confirmation that this past weekend’s Shaq’s NBA All -Star Comedy Jam in Dallas produced by Codeblack Entertainment generated the highest 2 day gross ticket sales for an urban comedy show since The Original Kings of Comedy which began its huge run in the 1995.
So far, the Original Kings Of Comedy Tour is the highest grossing comedy tour of all time, but that window looks like it’s shrinking quickly. As we all know, the Kings featured Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley, Cedric The Entertainer, and the late Bernie Mac.
Why do we say that? Well, the two day gross for All Star Jam was $880,676.00, and this was for just Two days. We should also note here that the show would have crossed 1 million dollars if it had not been for the snow as Dallas was hit with a snow storm on Thursday and the storm dampened ticket sales.

We just heard from our sources that comedian and actor, (and of course Oscar-winner) Jamie Foxx, is about to voice himself in his new animation project titled The Foxxhole. We also hear what the animation project is about - and get this- the comedy project is loosely based on his Sirius/Xm satellite radio program that goes by the same name, The Foxxhole.
Anyway, Foxx and his tight-knit crew of comedian buddies which include Speedy, Lewis Dix, Clayton Thomas, Corey Holcomb and many more convene weekly at The Foxxhole to discuss everything from politics to music to STDs as they do on the actual radio show. The series will also follow Foxx’s whirlwind life as an A-list star and his crew’s attempts to define their own careers. Foxx and Marcus King will executive produce and Lance Crouther will write the pilot. Stay tuned for more news as this develops.
