Sooooo… Cross 3. It’s safe to say No-one ever expected this, even though it was hinted at in the last film! In fact how the hell, did star Brian Austin Green and writer/co-director Patrick Durham even manage to secure the funding to produce this film? No-one ever really wanted the 2017 Cross sequel, Cross Wars, and I have no doubt the audience for a Third film is even smaller.
But here we are, it’s 2019 and the low-budget superhero series continues, obviously still trying to ride the superhero hype wave – whether comic-book movie loving audiences will...

It’s hard to believe that 2011 superhero movie Cross made enough money, or had enough of a fanbase to warrant a sequel, but here we are 6 years after the original, back in action with most of the same cast. Where as the first film, and it’s green Celtic power-providing amulet, was timed to cash-in on that other “green” superhero movie starring Ryan Reynolds, this time round however there’s no similar superhero movie to cash in on. And this time round the genre has had [much] more than it’s fair share of good, bad and Very bad movies.
I wonder which category Cross Wars falls into? If you have to guess, well…
Cross Wars continues the story of Callan...

The first poster for the thriller The Devil's Dozen has been released. Recently, this film attended the Afm and now the film has a home at the distribution house Tombstone Distribution. Based on the cast, this film will be a success as those starring include: Eric Roberts, C. Thomas Howell, and many, many more. In this graphic (seen left) a man looms in darkness; in the film, twelve strangers must find the guiltiest among them, execute him or her and then find the next guiltiest. Only one person will make it out alive! This film fan does not like those odds but fans of thrillers might enjoy this early preview of The Devil's Dozen. More casting details are below.

Cross wants so badly to cash in on the current superhero film craze that it fatally neglects all of the elements needed to make a movie: writing, acting, editing, and direction. Perhaps the film’s failings can be attributed to Patrick Durham who pulls triple duty as the film’s writer, director, and as an actor, but does none of them particularly well. He managed to take a cast littered with recognizable faces, and even some really talented actors, and churn out a film devoid of humor, adrenaline, or wit. Cross is quite simply a trainwreck so awful that it’s too bad to be funny and so poorly constructed that it can’t even be used as a cautionary tale. Cross should be avoided by anyone who has an appreciation for action, comedy, or film as a medium of expression because it has nothing to say.

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: I celebrate all levels of trailers and hopefully this column will satisfactorily give you a baseline of what beta wave I’m operating on, because what better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? Some of the best authors will tell you that writing a short story is a lot harder than writing a long one, that you have to weigh every sentence. What better medium to see how this theory plays itself out beyond that than with movie trailers? PressPausePlayTrailer If there are creative nerds out there, and I know there are dozens of you who are more adept than I with knowing how...
