Also executive producing In the Spotlight, which has received a pilot order, is former CBS head of alternative Jennifer Bresnan in her first pilot since leaving her post in the summer. In the Spotlight is based on the Turkish paper format Keep Your Light Shining, which has undergone some changes. CBS wouldn’t reveal details but, according to international format aggregator Global Agency, which represents the original format, Keep Your Light Shining features 12 contestants on a dark circular stage with a moving spotlight, with them taking turns to sing as the spotlight shines on each of them for 15-20 seconds. Each round, one contestant is eliminated by the audience, with the show also featuring a panel of celebrity judges.

This story first appeared in the Oct. 4 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine. On Sept. 20, it was ABC reality chief John Saade, not a Dancing With the Stars contestant, who was voted out. In perhaps the most telling sign of the challenged state of the network reality business, Saade was the third of the Big Four's top unscripted executives to exit since May. He followed Fox's Mike Darnell (now at Warner Bros.) and CBS' Jennifer Bresnan (replaced by her No. 2, Chris Castallo), making NBC's Paul Telegdy the last man standing -- and, as The Voice Emmy winner

Most recently, ABC’s executive vice president, alternative series & late-night programming, John Saade, stepped down from his position, with former E! executive Lisa Berger being eyed to replace him. Earlier this year, Fox’s Mike Darnell and CBS’s Jennifer Bresnan departed their high-profile positions in those networks’ reality-programming arms. Chris Castallo, to whom Graham will report,...

CBS has officially picked up 'Survivor' and renewed its deal with series host Jeff Probst. Looks like this means Probst won't be replacing Regis Philbin.
The new deal sees 'Survivor' on the network for the 2011-2012 TV season, with Probst as host of season 23 and 24. This follows the similar deal Probst signed in 2010.

Probst's name entered the race for the empty 'Live' seat after filling in for Philbin on several occasions. That's pretty unlikely to happen now, unless Kelly Ripa is comfortable sitting next to a screen for long periods of time.

CBS is getting its own dance show.
The network is partnering with Reveille to bring U.K. hit "Got to Dance" to the States.
The competition series is billed as the first all-ages all-genres dance series. A wide variety of acts will compete for a panel of judges, with viewers getting to vote during the semifinals and finals.
CBS has greenlit the project for an unspecified number of episodes. This marks the third major network to have a dance-competition series, joining ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" and Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance," with NBC's "Got Talent" also having a foot in the genre.
Sources say CBS alternative topper Jennifer Bresnan liked the relatability of expanding the genre beyond professionals to include amateurs with undiscovered talent and high aspirations.
Elisabeth Murdoch, Howard T. Owens, Mark Koops and Robin Ashbrook will executive produce the Shine Group format created by Princess Prods.

CBS has renewed its contract for "Undercover Boss."
The network has ordered a second cycle of its hit new reality series for the 2010-2011 season.
"Undercover Boss" follows the wacky, real-life adventures of a company bigwig who employs nefarious disguises (shaving!) to go undercover and work amongst his/her people in the company. Eyes are opened, hearts swell and often, a few lives are changed.
Previous episodes featured bosses from Hooters, 7-11 and White Castle taking the challenge.
The renewal comes as no surprise, considering the show's high ratings. "Undercover Boss" debuted in the coveted post-Super Bowl spot to impressive numbers: 38.6 million viewers, making it the biggest post-Super Bowl show since "Survivor: The Australian Outback" premiered to 45 million-plus people in 2001.
Since then, it's maintained a healthy audience, averaging 18.74 million viewers.
"We are thrilled with the overwhelming response to the series and how audiences seem to connect to it on several levels,...

CBS is ordering a second season of its surprise success "Undercover Boss."
Since its post-Super Bowl debut, the midseason reality show has performed strong on Sunday nights, improving considerably on its "Amazing Race" lead-in.
"We are thrilled with the overwhelming response to the series and how audiences seem to connect to it on several levels," said Jennifer Bresnan, senior vp reality at CBS. "The wish fulfillment of seeing the top boss perform jobs of the rank and file is universal, and the employees' stories discovered at each company are often relatable and inspirational."
"Boss" was seen by 38.7 million viewers after the Super Bowl, the largest audience ever for a new series following the big game. Since then, "Boss" has averaged a 5.6 rating among adults 18-49.

CBS is treading into potentially controversial reality TV territory again.
The network has ordered a new series from the producers of "Top Chef" that puts lovelorn singles into arranged marriages.
The show introduces four adults age approximately 25-45 who are anxious to get married but have been unsuccessful in their search for a mate. Their friends and family select a spouse for them, and the newly paired couple exchange marital vows. The series follows their marriages.
The rest of the details for the project, whose early working title is "Arranged Marriage," are being kept under wraps.
The series is from Jane Lipsitz and Dan Cutforth of Magical Elves, which launched "Project Runway" on Bravo and produces the network's "Top Chef."
It is the second series greenlighted by CBS' new reality chief Jennifer Bresnan, following the recent order for "Block Party," a competition among neighboring families.

After producing a slew of theatrical films in recent years, producer Mike Fleiss is returning to the broadcast airwaves with a new CBS reality series.
The network has agreed to air seven episodes of an as-yet-untitled series that pits a neighborhood of families against each other for a significant prize. The series has just started casting, and no airdate is set.
Warner Horizon/Next Entertainment will produce the project, which will mark Fleiss' first new reality show to hit the broadcast networks since ABC's "The Great American Dream Vote" last year.
The series marks the first reality greenlighted by Jennifer Bresnan, CBS' new reality chief who in August replaced Ghen Maynard.
Fleiss is best known for ABC's longtime series "The Bachelor," which is considered a conceptual spinoff of Fleiss' headline-making Fox special "Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire?" Fleiss also produced ABC's infamous "Are You Hot?" and TBS' "The Real Gilligan's Island.

Paul Telegdy, head of "Dancing With the Stars" producer BBC Worldwide Prods., is in negotiations with NBC to take over the network's alternative programming division.
Telegdy would replace Craig Plestis, who has led the department since 2004 and last year was upped to executive vp alternative programming, development and specials.
Outside of "Dancing" and its spinoff "Dance Wars," BBC Worldwide Prods. had done most of its unscripted business at NBC, where it produced series "Clash of the Choirs" and "Grease: You're the One That I Want," and is behind the network's upcoming U.S. version of the U.K. hit "Top Gear."
A lot has changed since Telegdy came to Los Angeles from England in 2004 to head BBC's small regional office. He put BBC Worldwide Prods. on the map with "Dancing" and was given free rein, quickly ramping up production on unscripted series and venturing into scripted series through a first-look deal with Sony TV.
