Although summer 2024 is nearly upon us, viewers will have to wait until 2025 for the third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Set mostly in the fictional Cousins Beach, the drama series features the coming-of-age of Isabelle “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung), who grew up going to Cousins every summer with her mom Laurel (Jackie Chung) and brother Steven (Sean Kaufman) with Laurel’s best friend Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) and her sons Conrad (Chris Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno). Belly has been in love with Conrad ever since she could remember, but she also has feelings for Jeremiah. He was her first kiss, after all.
At Prime Video’s Upfront, the cast of the young adult series and author of the source material novels Jenny Han gave an update for Season 3’s release. Everything we know about The Summer I Turned Pretty lies below.

The Summer I Turned Pretty will not return this year. Amazon announced during its upfront presentation on Tuesday that the next season of the show, based on Jenny Han’s bestselling romance trilogy, has been delayed to 2025.
But while fans have to wait a bit longer, the network sweetened the deal by announcing that the upcoming third season will include 11 episodes rather than the previously announced 10. This is up from seven in Season One and eight in Season Two.

The TV show "The Summer I Turned Pretty" takes Jenny Han's trilogy of coming-of-age books and turns them into must-watch summer TV. So far, each season has been inspired by one of the three books, with the second season, which premiered in July, based on the second book, "It's Not Summer Without You." The show has been renewed for a third season, and it will probably be based on the third and final book, "We'll Always Have Summer." And while the TV show has made some changes from the source material, the series is pretty faithful to the romantic plot of the books. If you just can't wait to find out what happens to Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah, read on to find out how the book series wraps up its stories!

We've been obsessed with "The Summer I Turned Pretty" ever since we devoured the first season of the teen drama adapted from Jenny Han's cult-favorite YA book series in 2022. The Lola Tung-led show was a massive hit and put its young stars like Tung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, and more on the map.
"The Summer I Turned Pretty" is a multigenerational drama that focuses on the protagonist, Isabel "Belly" Conklin's, summer at the fictitious Cousins Beach, which serves as a jumping-off point for the teenager to not only explore the wondrous, confusing, and heart-stopping phases of young love, but also to find herself.
Season one sees Belly become entangled in a love triangle as her lifelong crush, Conrad (Briney), begins to reciprocate her feelings just as his younger brother, Jeremiah (Casalegno), also begins to pursue her romantically. Following the season two finale of "The Summer I Turned Pretty," we're now more curious than ever who Belly will end up with at the end of the Amazon Prime series. If the TV show stays true to the books, Belly and Conrad are endgame, but since there have been several major differences between the two thus far, it's unclear what author and showrunner Jenny Han has in store for the love triangle in season three. However, book fans and Redditors noticed an Easter egg in the season two finale that hints how the show's ending will remain loyal to its original story, meaning Belly and Conrad will likely end up together as they do in the books.

“Summer’s end is around the bend just flyin’” according to the great John E. Prine and Patrick James McLaughlin, whose song “Summer’s End” appeared in Season 2 of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” covered by Phoebe Bridgers and Maria Taylor. This applies to reality as the seasons and months change, but also to Jenny Han’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” which just wrapped its second season on Prime Video. Don’t blink though, because even though Season 3 is delayed due to the ongoing strikes, it will likely be the last one.

Just as music is a big part of The Summer I Turned Pretty, the Amazon Prime Video original series’ star, Lola Tung, used it to get into character. What the actor listened to for a fast way to get into Isabel “Belly” Conklin’s “headspace” and what she looked for in songs.

Kim Petras’s “You Can’t Do Better” might’ve blared through the speakers as Belly sang along on the way to Cousins with her brother Steven (Sean Kaufman), and mother Laurel (Jackie Chung) in the Tsitp premiere episode. However, the track may not have made the cut for season 2 based on Tung’s description of her own Belly playlist that helped her get into character.
“It was a lot of slightly more emotional songs — songs that felt nostalgic,” she told The New York Times.

The talented cast of "The Summer I Turned Pretty" takes us on an emotional journey throughout the eight episodes of season two. The season delves into the aftermath of Susannah's death as the Cousins Beach group rally to save the summer house from being sold by her sister. And while the season excelled in some aspects, like Taylor and Steven's romantic tension, it fell short when it came to sensitively handling how the ripple effects of grief play out in the infamous love triangle between Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah. There was no shortage of moments to cringe at, including Jeremiah's one-liners and mischievous lip bites or Belly's emotional outburst at Susannah's funeral. But there was one thing that stood out from the other moments, and that was how Belly (Lola Tung) continuously compared her loss and grief to that of Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney), Susannah's sons.

Ironically, one of Steven’s (Sean Kaufman) and Taylor’s (Rain Spencer) first conflicts as a couple revolves around Belly’s (Lola Tung) choice of romantic partners between Conrad (Chris Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno).
The love triangle debate became more contentious during Season 2 after Belly and Conrad had tried being together, but Susannah’s cancer made Conrad push Belly away. Their breakup was painful because Conrad didn’t exactly fight for Belly even though he was the one who initiated the conversation by saying he needed to talk to her. Belly had briefly held Jeremiah’s heart last season before Conrad returned her love, and Jere was very hurt when Belly ended up with Conrad.
Belly’s childhood best friend Taylor has always been more of a fan of Jeremiah. She has nicknamed their ‘ship “Team Jellyfish,” and as soon as Conrad breaks Belly’s heart at prom,...

Conrad Fisher (Chris Briney) has almost no filter after he catches Belly (Lola Tung) making out with his brother Jeremiah in “The Summer I Turned Pretty” Season 2 finale.
Conrad knows that Belly has always pined for him, but Season 2 shows that they gave a relationship a shot until it got to be too much for him along with his mother Susannah’s (Rachel Blanchard) cancer. Belly tried to tell him about her feelings for Jeremiah the night before his biology final, but he had finally fallen asleep from the near-all-nighter they pulled helping him study. [This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for all of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2.] Season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty has officially come to an end as Belly (Lola Tung) seemingly made her choice between the Fisher brothers, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney). But the finale, “Love Triangle,” was about more than the title of the episode implies as it captured touching moments between Belly and Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) and also continued to further the romance between Belly’s best friend Taylor (Rain Spencer) and brother Steven (Sean Kaufman). It followed a cliffhanger ending to Episode 7, which saw Conrad catch Belly and Jeremiah kissing after waiting for him outside of his college finals. Belly has navigated an emotional rollercoaster — from grieving Susannah and feeling isolated from the boys to confronting Conrad after two fallouts with him and then kissing Jeremiah — to reach the final scene of Season 2. Season two of The Summer I Turned Pretty brought tears, laughter, heartbreak and a whirlwind year for Belly, Conrad, Jeremiah and the rest of the gang. In the meantime, it might be worth your while to read the third book in the series, “We’ll Always Have Summer.” For now, here’s everything we know about “The Summer I Turned Pretty” Season 3:
Has “The Summer I Turned Pretty” Been Renewed for Season 3?

For those left inconsolable after that “The Summer I Turned Pretty” Season 2 finale, you’ve come to the right place — especially if you have questions. Rest assured that, whether you are Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah, we know you’re devastated.
Questions to consider for the Prime Video adaptation of Jenny Han’s book series not only involve the infamous love triangle between Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung) and the Fisher brothers — Conrad (Chris Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), but also the soundtrack to Season 3, which has big shoes to fill even without Taylor Swift’s magical music. Other budding relationships like that of Steven (Sean Kaufman) and Taylor (Rain Spencer) as well as whether or not Cam Cameron (David Iacono) will come back in Season 3 are on our mind as well.
Mastermind Jenny Han (who also serves as showrunner) will answer all of these questions in time as the...

Several users remarked about the way the light falls in a certain scene, thinking it points to how the series will end in terms of who Belly will end up with.
“The light only on Belly and Conrad,” one user pointed out. “Endgame secured.

Taffy Brodesser-Akner is not going to pretend she wasn’t awake for the Emmy nomination announcement on July 12. “I was sitting there and watching it like a stock ticker,” she says. Brodesser-Akner was rewarded for her attention: The novelist and journalist’s first foray into television, FX/Hulu’s adaptation of her book Fleishman Is in Trouble, is nominated for seven awards, including outstanding limited or anthology series, lead actress for Lizzy Caplan and supporting actress for Claire Danes. Fleishman begins by following the newly single life of Upper East Side hepatologist Toby Fleishman (Jesse Eisenberg) after he and his wife, Rachel (Danes), split up. Over the course of the eight episodes — narrated by Toby’s friend Libby (Caplan) — the audience starts to understand the deep wounds of this relationship and the malaise of early middle age. Brodesser-Akner, having also earned an individual Emmy nominee for writing, spoke to THR...

Laurel Park (Jackie Chung) doesn’t fully break down over Susannah’s death until Episode 7 of “The Summer I Turned Pretty.”
While Belly (Lola Tung), Steven (Sean Kaufman), Taylor (Rain Spencer), Conrad Fisher (Chris Briney), Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno), Skye (Elsie Fisher) and Cam Cameron (David Iacono) threw a party to rebel against the sale of the Cousins Beach house by Aunt Julia (Kyra Sedgwick), Laurel remained unaware of Julia’s plans and the kids’ efforts to thwart them. It was a drunken call from Belly that tipped Laurel off as to what her children were really up to while she was away promoting her new memoir, “It’s Not Summer Without You.” The book was about meeting Susannah and living life as best friends from college.
“Laurel just thinks that if she deals with her grief, she will crumble and she won’t be able to be a pillar...

Kyra Sedgwick crafted a detailed backstory for her character Aunt Julia, who catalyzes the plot for Season 2 of “The Summer I Turned Pretty.”
Julia is Susannah’s half-sister who inherits the Cousins Beach house after Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) dies between the first and second seasons of the show. To thwart Julia’s sale of the house, Susannah’s son Conrad goes missing. His brother Jeremiah and their joint love interest Belly join in to make the sale a living hell.
“It was good to be somebody who comes in and affects change. That’s a great character to play. Without her there wouldn’t be a plot this season,” Sedgwick told TheWrap over the phone before the SAG-AFTRA strike began. “I think she is a formidable antagonist because I think that she feels right and dug into her side. She has a different experience in that house, and I think that to a degree,...

[This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 7 “Love Affair.”] The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 may be about the love triangle between Belly (Lola Tung) and brothers Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno), but it’s also about grief as everyone deals with the loss of their mother, Susannah Fisher (Rachel Blanchard). Her death has had very different effects on her best friend Laurel (Jackie Chung), who is also Belly’s mom, and Susannah’s sister Julia (Kyra Sedgwick). “They don’t really speak,” Sedgwick told TV Insider of Julia and Susannah prior to the latter’s death. “It’s a wonderful arc to play because she starts out there and then she ends up in a very different place.” (Credit: Jenny Han via Instagram) By the end of Episode 7, “Love Affair,” Julia has chosen to back out of selling Susannah’...

Life is filled with wins and losses.
And The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 7 had a bit of both, especially depending on which side of this love triangle you may fall on because it seems that, for now, Belly has made her choice.
At the very least, she's made things even more complicated even as we made some progress in the relationships between the trio and got a win with the summer house.
Who knew Laurel would be the secret weapon in the teens managing to keep Susannah's house after all?
This person knew, but that's beside the point.
The hour felt more balanced and blended the elements composing the season better than some previous installments.
One of the strongest aspects of this hour was that it finally knew what to do with Laurel and brought her into the fold in a way that the season desperately needed.

This season hurts.
Sometimes it hurts in a good way and other times terribly, and The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 6 had a shit ton of both.
Belly and the gang begrudgingly made peace with losing the house and opted to have a farewell party. But we all know teen parties never go according to plan.
Some of the fun highlights got quickly overshadowed by the Fisher Brothers still struggling with their grief over Susannah, the loss of the house, and their feelings for Belly.
And respectfully, Steven and Taylor continued to carry this season on their backs.
The season is almost over, and it feels like it was marinated in so much angst that it hasn't really gone anywhere.
I'm still eagerly awaiting when we'll get some more tidbits in the final two installments. But that's the thing, most of the season is complete, and it's been relatively aimless for the most part.

Season two of The Summer I Turned Pretty is pulling in big viewership numbers, which made Prime Video’s announcement that the coming-of-age drama has been renewed for season three not in the least bit shocking. The official announcement confirmed there will be a 10-episode third season but didn’t reveal any specifics about the upcoming season.
According to the streaming service, season three was actually greenlit before either the writers or actors strikes. Obviously, production will not get underway until the strikes are over.
The series is based on Jenny Han’s bestselling trilogy, and Han and Sarah Kucserka will continue as showrunners for the 10-episode third season. Han, Kucserka, Karen Rosenfelt, and wiip’s Hope Hartman, Mads Hansen, and Paul Lee executive produce.

Jenny Han’s teen drama series “The Summer I Turned Pretty” has been renewed for a ten-episode third season at Amazon Prime Video.
Though the news was announced on Thursday, Amazon says the greenlight was made official internally before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA went on strike, and that no work on Season 3 will begin until labor negotiations between the guilds and the studios have been resolved.
According to Amazon, Season 2 of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is one of the 10 most-watched seasons of any series ever on Amazon Prime Video, with its July 14 premiere more than doubling viewership of Season 1 within three days of launch.
Season 2 follows Belly (Lola Tung), who used to count down the days until she could return to Cousins Beach, but with Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) fighting over her heart and the return of Susannah’s (Rachel Blanchard) cancer, she’s not sure...

Belly Conklin (Lola Tung) and the summer boys are back in Season 2 of Jenny Han’s television adaptation of her beloved young adult “The Summer I Turned Pretty” books. Based on the second book in the trilogy, “It’s Not Summer Without You,” Season 2 drops July 14 with three episodes launching on Amazon Prime Video. Belly’s love triangle with Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno) is far from resolved, as indicated last season when Belly expressed strong feelings for Conrad, but then kissed Jeremiah before ultimately ending up with Conrad again.
The official trailer for Season 2 debuted Taylor Swift’s “Back to December (Taylor’s Version)” after a short snippet of the singer’s “folklore” song “August” to showcase how the second installment will jump back and forth between the latest summer and the winter before it that Belly spent dating Conrad long distance.

The mind of Jeremiah Fisher is a lovely place.
Keeping with the theme of trying new things, The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 5 tried something different by putting us in the headspace of Jeremiah instead of Belly.
As the weaker aspect of this love triangle, one of whom we knew the least about, it was genuinely refreshing that we got Jeremiah's perspective and a chance to lean into the male gaze.
And what we learned was essentially some of what we knew but expanded.
He's the boy who always looked up to his brother, but now the hero worship of Conrad has dissipated naturally as they've grown older.
He's the boy who fell for Belly at the beginning of last summer and has been struggling with his position as "second best" to Conrad ever since. And he's only ever felt understood by Susannah and Belly.
We needed an hour like this for Jeremiah,...

David Iacono wasn’t sure where his “The Summer I Turned Pretty” character Cam’s story was going in Season 2 of the Prime Video series, because the character doesn’t return in author Jenny Han’s second book of her trilogy.
His beloved Cam Cameron, who dates Belly (Lola Tung) for a bit in the first season, first appeared in Season 2, Episode 4, mediating the great boardwalk showdown. He continues to hold space in the fifth episode, revealing that his sister died when he was young.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers from Season 2 of “The Summer I Turned Pretty.”
The teen drama isn’t a new genre — it’s been around for decades. But on television, the offerings have been lacking in recent years, with shows feeling pressure to add something more — usually in the from of a supernatural creature — than just relationship-based storytelling. Many shows appear to be afraid to do just that, despite the fact that it’s what The WB (Rip) and The CW (Rip x2) were built on. The word “ship” started circulating more on social media during “The Vampire Diaries,” which thrived when it leaned into Stelena, Delena, Klaroline, etc., rather than the bloodsucking. Years later, the remake of “Roswell” succeeded most when Malex’s growing love was examined, rather than the aliens in town.

Grief is funny in that sometimes you can forget it for a bit, let loose, have fun, and bask in this one perfect day.
And then, like the other shoe dropping, or the rug being literally ripped from beneath your feet, it all comes crashing down again.
And thanks to the tense-filled moments at the beginning and devastating end of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 4, that's precisely what this hour captured so well.
Perfect days and moments don't last too long because, eventually, life and reality catch up to you.
While we got a bit more insight into Julia and her background with Susannah via offhand comments from Skye, with the underhanded move by the end of the hour, it's hard to view her as anything beyond villainous.
Fortunately, Elsie Fisher's cousin Skye makes up some of that by being an endearing addition to this group of teens.

When it comes to teen romance, Jenny Han is a force to be reckoned with. Her first onscreen success — Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before adaptation — played a pivotal role in reviving the romantic comedy genre back in 2018. Last year, Han took her storytelling prowess to television with another heartfelt book-to-screen adaptation: Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty.
The teen drama follows Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung), a 16-year-old girl who has spent every summer at Cousins Beach. Unlike the first season, which introduced a debutante ball not present in the original novels, Season 2 caters more to book fans and remains fairly faithful to the source material, give or take a few changes. It matures in tandem with the characters, tackling heavier themes as everyone grapples with the weight of Susannah’s (Rachel Blanchard) death.

‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ captivating season 2 is taking us yet again away to the picturesque shores of Cousins Beach. It’s not summer without “The Summer I Turned Pretty.”
Prime Video’s hit teen drama has returned for Season 2. The first three episodes, which dropped on July 13, re-introduced its rabid fanbase to the world of 16-year-old Belly Conklin (Lola Tung), who spends summers with her family and friends at an idyllic house in Cousins Beach. Caught in a love triangle between two brothers, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad Fisher (Chris Briney), Belly navigates romance and friendship — and, in Season 2, grief, for the first time.
A New York Times bestselling series written by Jenny Han, “The Summer I Turned Pretty” debuted on Prime Video in 2022, where it became the No. 1 show on the streaming service in its debut weekend. Han is also the co-showrunner of the series, alongside...

Following the first season of the Prime Video series — which saw the beginning of what has become a drama-filled love triangle, as well as the return of Susannah’s (Rachel Blanchard) cancer — season two picks up after a year of trials and tribulations for the whole gang, including the death of Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah’s (Casalegno) mom.
Casalegno, Lola Tung, Briney, Sean Kaufman, Rain Spencer, David Iacono, Blanchard and Jackie Chung all return for the new season of the series from Jenny Han, who also wrote the book trilogy of the same name. This season also welcomes new faces, including Elsie Fisher and Kyra Sedgwick.

The television show of the summer for teens sprang from the pages of Jenny Han’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty” trilogy. Season 2 of the Prime Video series, which debuted July 14, takes on the events of the second book, “It’s Not Summer Without You.” As with Season 1, several changes were made to the adaptation for the small screen, such as the addition of new characters and the expansion of certain storylines. Other details, large and small, make the show a bit different from Han’s second book, but with the author also serving as showrunner on the series, these changes come naturally.
Season 1 had its own changes that ripple into Season 2, such as Jeremiah’s bisexuality, Laurel’s career as an author (she is a professor in the books) and more. Kyra Sedgewick and Elsie Fisher joined Season 2 as completely new characters that don’t exist in the books.

[This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2, Episodes 1-3.] The Summer I Turned Pretty is back and already breaking hearts with the up-and-down love story between Belly Conklin (Lola Tung) and Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney), whose time together unfolds in two different timelines. The first timeline picks up during the summer of Season 1, just as Belly and Conrad’s relationship is beginning, and the second timeline kicks off at the start of the following summer, at which point Conrad isn’t even speaking to Belly, nor is his brother Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). With the reveal that Conrad and Jeremiah’s mother Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) has also died from cancer, this new summer doesn’t have the same kind of promise the previous one did. The structure is reminiscent of Jenny Han‘s books on which this series is based. As the creator and showrunner ...

Summer just doesn't feel like summer without Susannah.
But with the teens banding together to cling to this last bit of Susannah they have left on The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 3, the series feels more like itself than before.
If Julia believes she'll somehow rip the beach house away from the Fisher boys, she has a hell of a storm coming.
It's amazing how everything feels significantly better when all the teens come together.
Sure, there was some lingering awkwardness and tension of all types lingering among most of them, but beyond that, there's a deep love and care that all of these characters have for one another.
It's genuine care for their friends and ex-lovers that brought them to the beach house in the first place. And that same love has them fighting to keep Susannah's memory and the magic of the place she held dear within their grasp.

While watching the first three episodes of "The Summer I Turned Pretty" season two - released Friday, July 14, on Amazon Prime Video - I came back to one thought over and over: can someone be nice to Belly?! Stop reading if you haven't watched yet, but when the show picks up, the school year is about to end, and Belly (Lola Tung) is bereft because their family friend Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) has died about a month ago. Susannah's illness has hung over the whole school year, with Belly's mom, Laurel (Jackie Chung), spending a lot of time going back and forth to the Fisher house to lend a hand to Susannah, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), and Conrad (Christopher Briney).
Belly, meanwhile, has struggled basically since the last summer ended. Her grades aren't as good. She underperformed on her volleyball team. Of course, this all makes sense given what she's gone through,...

‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Star Sean Kaufman Explains Why Season 2 Feels ‘Crazy Different’ (Video)
“The Summer I Turned Pretty” Season 2 delves into some summertime sadness, and the actors found it tough to stay in the season’s dramatic headspace for too long.
“Whatever acting method people choose to use —replacement or method — it’s tough because it’s like I’m surrounded by funny people in a loving environment, and all I want to do — especially in moments of like extreme vulnerability like that — is to crack a joke to ease the tension or not let myself go there because it’s too painful,” Sean Kaufman, who plays Steven on the show, told TheWrap in an interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike. “To actually allow yourself to go there, especially day after day after day, like a lot of Season 2, it’s tough.”
