Forty years after putting down the Power Station broom and picking up the microphone, Jon Bon Jovi is in an introspective mood.
The man who co-wrote iconic songs including “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “Keep the Faith” is preparing for the release of Hulu’s four-part docuseries Thank You, Goodnight, directed by Gotham Chopra.
Initially planned as a career retrospective around the band’s 40th anniversary – Bon Jovi’s eponymous album was released on January 21, 1984 – the series added another element to the story, that of its lead singer’s health issues that have raised question marks about the band’s future.
Thank You, Goodnight, which premieres April 26, highlights the highs and lows of being in a band, the drugs and the difficulties of remaining successful and wanting to evolve but not wanting to alienate its audience, in addition to its leader’s health issues. It’s not a “VH1 puff piece,...

Here is an incomplete list of people who might really enjoy Hulu’s Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story: Longtime Bon Jovi fans, who know this story by heart but love it enough to want to hear it again. More recent converts, eager to fill in the gaps of their knowledge. Individuals who are deeply invested in Jon Bon Jovi as a person, and wondering how he’s been. Jon himself, presumably — though the frontman has stressed that he did not have final cut, director Gotham Chopra has assembled a portrait as reverent as any celebrity might reasonably hope for.
Everyone else — the casual listeners, the total newbies, the gossips and (at least in my case) the critics — can probably keep walking. Thank You, Goodnight is a perfectly nice retrospective, approachable and amiable and affectionate. But that’s not the same thing as saying it’s a particularly insightful one.

As Skidrow frontman Sebastian Bach sat down after a long day of metal rocking to enjoy some MTV, an energetic pretty boy suddenly appeared before the eyes of Bach. And all he could think was, “What the f*ck is a Bon Jovi and What the f*ck is with all those teeth?”, as smiling was not exactly considered cool amongst the metal-heads of the time. And we can’t forget Twister Sister frontman Dee Snider, who believes that he can pin point the exact moment that metal started to become less metal….when Bon Jovi smiled, creating what many like to call “happy metal”. While others say that Bon Jovi’s music brought a fresh new light to the genre causing millions of other smiles to spread throughout the world. Not being completely miserable and angry all the time was a bold controversial move in the world of rock...

When band members abruptly leave the group that made them famous, most assume that there was plenty of behind-the-scenes drama. However, Jon Bon Jovi insisted there were “no hard feelings” when longtime guitar player Richie Sambora quit the rock band.
Richie Sambora was an original member of Bon Jovi
Bon Jovi was formed in 1983. The band’s initial lineup included lead singer Bon Jovi, guitar player Sambora, keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres, and bass player Alec John Such. The group enjoyed some moderate success with their first few albums and built up a dedicated fan base through frequent tours.
In 1986, they released Slippery When Wet and quickly became stars. The album spent eight weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, and singles “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “Livin’ on a Prayer” both went No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The 33rd annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony treated the audience at Cleveland’s Public Auditorium to a reunited Bon Jovi, a hilarious induction speech by presenter Howard Stern, and touching tributes to Tom Petty and Chris Cornell.

Saturday night’s (April 14) Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Public Hall in Cleveland was a heartwarming evening of music and celebration, but perhaps no onstage moment elicited the laughs and cheers that Howard Stern got singing Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive.” He then exclaimed, “Eat sh–, Bob Dylan.”
The King of All Media, who labored all week on his speech inducting Bon Jovi into the Rock Hall, was his usual unflinching, no-filter self. “In a sign of the zombie apocalypse, Jann Wenner finally let Bon Jovi into the Hall of Fame,” cracked the Sirius Xm host of the Rolling Stone and Rock Hall co-founder. “It took years of pondering to decide that this glorious band that sold 130 million albums [should be let] in.” Stern continued: “It’s over Jon. The dream has been realized — not the dream of owning a football team, that was ridiculous,” he joked.

Art rock has a long and storied history perpetuated by bands like Jethro Tull, King Crimson and the Velvet Underground. And then, of course, there are so many performers who have become artists as well, ranging from Brian Eno to Bon Jovi’s Tico Torres, with too many modern acts to name. Now, one more talented musician can be added to this list of cross-media artists, as Echo and the Bunnymen guitarist Will Sergeant opens his first major American gallery exhibition tomorrow....

After touring non stop in 2010 to support their new album "The Circle" and latest compilation "Greatest Hits", Bon Jovi decide it's time to take a hiatus. "Sometimes you need to get away so people can appreciate you better. The best thing I can tell you is we're gonna need a couple of years off for sure," drummer Tico Torres told Rolling Stone.
Before enjoying the break, this band will first return to the road to complete their extended tour. The rockers, who got the most successful tour last year with a whopping $201.1 million worth of tickets, will kick off the 2011 traveling show on February 9 and stay on the road at least until July 31.
While the other members might enjoy more leisure time during the hiatus, frontman Jon Bon Jovi will most likely skip vacation to film star-studded movie "New Year's Eve" for a December release - he has been mentioned...

For the children of rock stars, pink and blue just doesn’t cut it.
So when Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres and his pals started having babies a few years back, he decided to make a line of gear just for them, aptly called rockstarbaby.
“It was all just pink and blue, and I thought, ‘I can’t relate to this!’ ” Torres recalls.
“So I decided to do something with clean white and black — it’s sharper, with more of a hip attitude. I figure parents dress themselves up, so why not have children look that way as well?...

I came across this story about Bon Jovi in the Daily Mail. It is accompanied by 2 photos illustrating the longevity of the New Jersey rock band. The caption on the first photo reads: Rock Gods: Bon Jovi at the Monsters of Rock Festival in Castle Donington in 1987. The caption on the second pic says: Still going strong: The band in New York last year. Just one problem -- in the second photo, band members David Bryan, Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora and Tico Torres are flanking Showtime CEO Matt Blank at last year's premiere of Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful. Bon Jovi has been a quartet ever since former bassist Alec John Such left in 1994. Maybe they've finally found a 5th member.

Jon Bon Jovi is worried about getting old. The rocker - who plans to keep on performing with bandmates, guitarist Richie Sambora, keyboard player Dave Bryan and drummer Tico Torres, as long as he can - is scared about the ageing process even though he still feels like a youngster on the inside. He told Germany's Reader's Digest magazine: "I find it hard to believe I'm 47 already, because I still feel like 18. I don't plan on being the next Mick Jagger and to keep on going till my late 60s. But at the moment I don't see a reason why I should stop." The singer - who was famed for his luxurious mullet in the 80s - has...

Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan, and Tico Torres are All in-house to answer James Lipton's probing questions. Will they give a little performance or two of their greatest hits? At Wednesday night's premiere of Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful, the band tries to quietly sneak to their seats after the house lights came down, but that doesn't fool this crowd. They are here to see Bon Jovi, and to bring home photographic proof. Immediately, a cheer goes out and flashes start a-popping. They don't stop for a solid five minutes, with people from all sections at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center aiming their cameras blindly in the direction of Jon Bon Jovi, Tico Torres, Dave Bryan, and Richie Sambora. The woo-hoos don't stop during the movie either, as this crowd is clearly fired up and ready for a concert. And they are not disappointed. Directed by photographer Phil Griffin, When We Were Beautiful follows the band on their Lost Highway tour in 2007 and 2008, juxtaposing intimate interviews with the band with rollicking concert footage that illustrates the ...

This year's Tribeca Film Festival will be the host for "Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful" premiere. The Hollywood Reporter came up with the story, claiming that the festival held in New York from April 22 to May 3 will "unspool what is described as a work-in-progress documentary" about chart-topping band Bon Jovi.
The documentary which features behind-the-scenes of the band's Lost Highway tour last year will be the fest's center piece presentation on Wednesday, April 29 at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center. In addition to the April 29 screening, the Phil Griffin-directed film will also be screened over the following three days.
Produced by @radical.media, "Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful" has been described as a celebration of the band's quarter-century career. Containing interviews with band members Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan and Tico Torres, it went beyond a traditional concert documentary as it looks at the complex relationships between...
